AZ side effects

AZ yesterday. Have to say I think I’ve just had the illest night of my life. The bed is literally sodden. Chills are an understatement. OH was the same. Headache now but getting better. Don’t want to put anyone off. Delighted to have got it. Just wondered how many were the same? And what the reaction is likely to be after the 2nd jab?

@Shopaholic100

Has anyone noticed their blood is more runny/thinner after having the AZ vaccination? I had the vaccination on Sunday and cut my finger this morning and it took a lot longer to clot than usual also the consistency seemed a little different. My friend experienced the same. Anyone else?
I’m a bit late to this but I had my (first) AZ jab 10 days ago. Yesterday I was flossing my teeth and I have slightly inflamed gums which occasionally bleed when I floss. This time they bled quite a lot, much more than usual and for what felt like a much longer period. I also wondered if the jab had affected blood clotting, but I feel ok otherwise. Only symptom after the jab was a sore arm for a few days, and perhaps a little more tired than usual.

@Shopaholic100 also just spotted this Norwegian study so it seems it could be related:

apparently a delayed rash is something a few people have had - apparently it's known as 'COVID arm'!
I know a couple of people who had this but they're fine now.

I had my first one (AZ) Friday, have been a little achey and headachey on and off, slight nausea and unsettled stomach at times, and am still getting tired quickly/by late afternoon, but nothing unduly worrying.

Think I'm coming to the end of symptoms after 12 days.

First 48 hrs, achey and ropey but pushed on through. Then ok till day 3 when headaches and treacle brain plus tiredness started.

Day 7 full day in bed with awful headache but also body ache - tension headache? Fuggy brain. Each day after till yesterday, day 10 mild headaches and treacle head that came and went. Sometimes paracetamol helped sometimes not.

No headache today but very achey night last night and arm hurting again Confused

Very weird do. However out of several colleagues it's a real mix of symptoms, some have none at all, others very unwell but just 48 hours. I have asthma and hypothyroidism, no idea if any link.

I had:

Stomach cramps and diarrhoea for 5/6 days
Tired, achy and brain foggy for 2 days
Still have a big bruise (was done 12 days ago)

I had Covid back at the beginning of the year.

@HoxtonBonnet

Yes, I got this "covid arm", I was terrified by this last night, contacted GP, She seems know nothing about it, I also uploaded the photo of my swollen arm to show her. She keep saying it's infection, prescribe me some antibiotics.

I wouldn't take this antibiotics anyway because googled "treatment of covid arm" is not supposed to take antibiotics.

By the way my covid arm also appeared 8 or 9 days after first jab, it's a delayed symptom.

ChocAuVin · 07/05/2021 22:57

After having reacted awfully to a flu jab in 2019 I was apprehensive to have my first AZ jab on Monday evening this week. I had basically stockpiled pain meds but decided not to take any precautionary dose overnight because of curiosity Grin

Despite my direst expectations... I was fine. Bit of a sore arm and and felt ever so faintly hungover... bit disappointed 😂

Moonpeg · 08/05/2021 00:52

Had mines at 10.30 this morning and feel awful now. Also had little pins and needles over my body, but Iv had this before. Without jag. Feeling like a bad case of the flu.

Rockbird · 08/05/2021 07:27

Nothing at all with the first jab. Had the second yesterday evening and woke up today with the worst sore throat I've ever had. Not sure if it's coincidence or a side effect. Otherwise ok though.

yoshiblue · 08/05/2021 11:12

Had AZ on Weds, so I'm 3 days in today. By 12 hours I felt like I'd been hit by a bus - very bad aches and pains, feeling tired, headache. Slept half of Thursday but had childcare the rest of the day due to Polling Day and school being shut :-(

Day 2/3 and the aches have subsided but I have a sore throat, cold, still headaches and fatigue. Trying to get on with it, as I have kids to look after.

In some way I relate to the poster that Covid for her was less than the side effects of AZ. I know you won't know this until you have it, but in one way I wish I hadn't had it.

Mrsfrumble · 08/05/2021 11:19

Had the jab at 11 yesterday morning. Felt great until a headache kicked in at about 6pm, and the shivers at 9. I couldn’t eat and didn’t even fancy the glass of wine DH poured for me. I slept quite well but feel fragile this morning; mostly tired and achy. My period started yesterday too, which always makes me feel rubbish at first (I often get “period flu”) so it’s to tell how much is side effects.

DH had Pfizer and had no side effects, so I think he thinks I’m milking it a bit. Still plan to spend the day in my pyjamas though. Thank goodness it’s a Saturday and the weather’s crap!

yoshiblue · 08/05/2021 12:12

@Mrsfrumble my DH also had Pfizer and thinks the same so I sent him on a link to this thread - that shut him up! Grin

Nickinoo30 · 08/05/2021 14:53

I had Az at 3pm yesterday. All fine until 2am when i woke aching with a headache. Took some paras and managed to doze off again. Thats been the story of today, ache, paras, sleep, repeat. Trying to build the energy to have a shower and get clean pyjamas on! Thank goodness its a rainy saturday and god bless Minecraft for entertaining the kids Grin
