AZ side effects

AZ yesterday. Have to say I think I’ve just had the illest night of my life. The bed is literally sodden. Chills are an understatement. OH was the same. Headache now but getting better. Don’t want to put anyone off. Delighted to have got it. Just wondered how many were the same? And what the reaction is likely to be after the 2nd jab?

Had mine Friday morning, felt a bit tired in the evening. Sat morning woke up and felt weary and fuzzy all day, which built up to having a nap Sat afternoon. Made it to bed at the normal time and have woken up feeling normal today.

LynetteScavo · 25/04/2021 07:48

On the plus side I'm sleeping incredibly well. I'm sleeping a solid 9 hours every night. I haven't slept this well in years . I would just like my energy back during the day though. I'm a bit scared it will never come back

daisybrown37 · 25/04/2021 09:45

22 hours post AZ jab here. Have felt better, have felt worse! Got the shivers last night but paracetamol helped. Feel like I have a hangover as my head feels heavy.

Able to cope with being up and looking after the kids but not pushing myself too much today. Housework might have to wait!

It does feel like some one hit my arm with a hammer rather than a small needle!

EmmaStone · 25/04/2021 09:53

I had my AZ jab yesterday afternoon at about 3pm. Touch wood, I feel absolutely fine. Woke up with a bit of a headache, but a paracetamol has helped. Arm is a bit sore, but nothing too bad, similar to previous flu jabs.

DH had his on Wednesday, and had a bad night of high fever and shivers, and was lethargic on Thursday, but within 24 hours from onset of symptoms (which started about 8 hours after the jab), he was absolutely fine.

Squidthing · 25/04/2021 10:01

I had jab yesterday morning and had a sore arm for an hour or so but other than that nothing to speak of. I was tired but can't say any more tired that usual with my non sleeping 3 Yr old.

Tal45 · 25/04/2021 10:04

Had my first yesterday with DH, he said 'is that it?' to the pharmacist and I was shocked at how painless it was as i'd just read it was more painful than most injections. This morning I feel absolutely fine and slept like normal (not better not worse) and DH is a bit achey and felt a bit cold when he woke up (but felt hot to me). Neither of us has felt the need to take paracetamol or anything.

Squidthing · 25/04/2021 10:06

Same re the injection, barely felt it.

OublietteBravo · 25/04/2021 10:54

I had my first dose yesterday at 13:00.

Today my arm is a bit sore (but no more so than after other vaccinations e.g. hep A, hep B).

I’m a bit tired (but this could be due to being woken up by DH snoring at 3am and taking an hour to get back to sleep).

My limbs feel a bit heavy. Especially my thighs. Kind of like it’s the day after doing a new type of exercise.

Nothing other than that. If I hadn’t been primed to look out for side effects, I’d probably only really have noticed the sore arm.

Shellingbynight · 25/04/2021 11:20

I posted on the previous AZ side effects thread, as I had my first dose in early March (I'm 63). Within 12 hours I had some of the effects described in the leaflet - no chills/fever but a banging headache which wouldn't shift even with nurofen and paracetamol, slightly dizzy, occasional palpitations, and generally felt like I had a hangover. The headache suddenly spontaneously lifted 24 hours after the jab but I had a very sore arm/upper back/neck and tiredness for a couple of days.

I have 12 friends who have related their experiences (aged between mid 50s and mid 70s) and only two of us had any effects worth mentioning - me and a guy in his late 60s. The rest either felt slightly tired (cured by an early night) or absolutely fine.

I'm not aware of having previously had Covid.

My second jab is due in four weeks and I'll definitely be having it. I'm crossing my fingers that it's true that the second dose tends to give fewer side effects.

BigButtons · 25/04/2021 12:01

I was not aware of any serious side effect before having my first dose. All my friends had been basically ok with it and I’d not read about it on here as it hadn’t occurred to me that there would be any issues to post about.
So I wen to get mine without worries or expectations about what might happen. Perhaps a good thing but it meant I was also hugely Un prepared for what did happen over the next few days.

sansou · 25/04/2021 13:38

I had my first dose Fri lunchtime. Slept fine. Woke up with a massive headache on Sat which stayed with me all day (not prone to headaches normally) so I did nothing but rest. Much better this morning although I still have a slight low level headache which hasn’t stopped me from doing a few chores. I have drank tons of water. Glad I had it on Friday now to have the weekend to recover. No qualms about having the second dose.

Trying81 · 25/04/2021 15:24

Had my first one this morning.

Almost 4 hours in and arm is a little hot and sore, but nothing else of note. I’m prone to headaches / neuralgia anyway so hoping it doesn’t trigger that

Vaccine itself was completely painless

@Lunar567 why are you posting anti vaxx rubbish? Who are you to say people aren't doing their research?

Lunar567 · 25/04/2021 17:38

So anyone who questions the safety is anti-vax?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 25/04/2021 17:46

No, not at all. The tone of your post suggests you are though.

penni00 · 25/04/2021 17:51

I wonder if anyone in the AZ trials refused the second dose if say for example they had prolonged side effects of weeks? Or whether or how many people in the trial had prolonged side effects of several weeks or more. Is it possible to get such information?

BurbageBrook · 25/04/2021 17:57

I was the same OP. Delirious, hallucinating, chills beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. Felt grim for 1 week. Not a hundred percent until 2nd week on. All fine since then though and so glad I had it.

notnowbernadette · 25/04/2021 18:00

I just had a sore arm the day after and nose bleeds in the following week

penni00 · 25/04/2021 18:03

Do you usually have nose bleeds? Is that a common side effect?

boomwhacker · 25/04/2021 18:19

I had it yesterday. I've been really tired today and generally achey and a bit like I'm about to come down with something. My arm is really sore. I've had a few moments of feeling breathless but they've passed quickly.

MsTSwift · 25/04/2021 19:33

Day 4 got my energy back!

NeedingCoffee · 25/04/2021 19:42

I was all prepared for side effects after jab yesterday afternoon (had fever and very sore arm indeed after flu jab in the autumn), but have had absolutely none other than a very mildly bruised feeling in my upper arm.

DH had his jab at the same time and has had a day of “man flu”; needing constant cups of tea and biscuits and unable to do anything other than lie on the sofa and watch sport. But I wouldn’t say he was really ill, more feeling a bit off and taking the opportunity to milk it Hmm

provencegal · 25/04/2021 19:42

Headaches have finally gone people!!
I can't tell you how happy I am.
I am putting it down to a very active and protective immune system for those of us feeling the effects. Now ready for the second dose, and a holiday in that order Grin

penni00 · 25/04/2021 20:41

I am pleased for you, can you remind me how long headache was altogether
