I just want my cut and colour.

OP posts:
motherrunner · 10/04/2021 06:18

Wow. And when I (and other teachers) posted how anxious we were about returning to class with no PPE and no vaccines we were told to get a grip and you’re worked up over a hair cut??? I haven’t had my hair cut since August as like most teachers we only have time in the holidays but then I had to isolate at Oct half term and Christmas. More things to worry about that highlights.

BonnieDundee · 10/04/2021 06:29

But there is bound to be a last straw and some moments where we feel completely unable to cope.

Exactly. Those slating the OP, have you never over the past year come to a point where something has been your last straw?

It's like marriages where a partner had been cheating or abusing their spouse for years and the spouse has put up with it. The tiniest insignificant little thing happens and that's it. And the cheater/abuser can't understand why.

Fwiw I agree that the government has psychologically abused us. Vaccines are the way out of this. No, you'll still have to continue restrictions after the vaccine. WTAF.

Are some of you genuinely OK with that?

SpringtimeSummertime · 10/04/2021 06:30

@MercyBooth

Its my last straw moment Everybody has one
I guess IF the government had banned dying hair in salons (they haven’t) it might well explain hairdressers all over the country having a bit of a ‘last straw moment’. But as that has not happened I don’t know what the problem is here OP.

We know that the vaccine potentially stops us from getting seriously ill.
We also know that the vaccine doesn’t stop us from catching and spreading a constantly changing virus.

daffodilsandprimroses · 10/04/2021 06:35

I get it.

I don’t know whether it’s right or wrong. It’s just a feeling.

But I don’t feel like ‘me’ at the moment. And it’s horrible.

fairburn · 10/04/2021 06:39

Hair is everything, Anthony.

@Yapplepearora

Jesus wept

What is the point of the fucking vaccine then you odious twats

Almost half of people haven't had the first jab yet and most people are not fully vaccinated, including probably most hairdressers.

It would be better for younger people to avoid covid if possible in case they had a nasty bout of the illness or worse had long covid which affected their ability to work.

BonnieDundee · 10/04/2021 06:41

We are all in the same boat

Grin

We definitely aren't

beginningoftheend · 10/04/2021 06:44

If you live in a high-income rural area you are in a totally different boat than if you live in a low-income urban area for example.

aretherereally4Hs · 10/04/2021 06:45

I'm having highlights next week. My salon only has 2 stylists so will just have me in it and whoever the other stylist has.

I get this can be a last straw but it's not actually happening it's guidance! Get your knickers in a twist IF it is made law 🤷🏼‍♀️

picknmix1984 · 10/04/2021 06:50

Why don't you just buy a hair dye and do it yourself. I do this and it looked far better and was much cheaper. Easier if you aren't a slave to all that expense and faff really.

daffodilsandprimroses · 10/04/2021 06:51

It’s highlights, not just hair dye. Not easy to do yourself and look nice.

I was asking if people were OK with that ; not a direct regurgitation of what JVT said

Uronmute · 10/04/2021 06:53

Psychological abuse and gaslighting? You’re being bloody ridiculous.

secretllama · 10/04/2021 06:54

All those saying the OP is overreacting, do you genuinley not see why they've reacted this way?

After over a year of having most enjoyable things banned, having to follow rules for every part of life that exists outside your house, being treated like a child by the government etc. Of course people are going to react to something small that finally pushes them over the edge.

Ffs enough with this nonsense.

drpet49 · 10/04/2021 06:56

* Those slating the OP, have you never over the past year come to a point where something has been your last straw?*

^No, I can’t say that I have.

FuckeryOmbudsman · 10/04/2021 06:57

That inews article is the one that's 'gaslighting'

It's taken the perfectly reasonable bit of the guidelines about minimising the length of appointments and turned it into something that it isn't.

There is no ban on any procedure

It's really clear that the instinct to blame the governement, even for the things they are not doing, is really strong.

And it's this sort of misprepresentation that means people become confused about what the government is actually saying

daffodilsandprimroses · 10/04/2021 06:57

Neither did I in the first lockdown dr

It doesn’t mean I don’t understand that some did.

And this lockdown near enough broke me!

BonnieDundee · 10/04/2021 06:57

I get this can be a last straw but it's not actually happening it's guidance! Get your knickers in a twist IF it is made law

I think the problem.the.OP has is the amount of.time guidance has been quoted as if.it was The.Law.

You only have to look at the number of fines that were wrongly handed out to.people for.breaking the guidelines or the "spirit of the law"

Or the people who had curtain twitching neighbours who were.timing them to check they were not out for more than an hour last March

FuckeryOmbudsman · 10/04/2021 07:01

@BonnieDundee OP has cited a news article that has misrepresented the guidance

Highlights aren't banned.

Appointments should be kept as short as possible so no unnecessary hanging around.

Nothing's banned or restricted!

SpringtimeSummertime · 10/04/2021 07:03

They have made it clear that the vaccine isn’t some sort of magic cure. They have made it clear that restrictions will continue despite the vaccination roll out ( for the reasons I stated above) so I have no idea why you feel psychologically abused.

Hesma · 10/04/2021 07:07

First world problems 🥱.
Seriously... get...a....grip.... Talk to your hairdresser, see what they say and stop overreacting! We’re all in the same boat but you really don’t want covid, believe me.... you wouldn’t give a shit about your hair if you did!

Mumoblue · 10/04/2021 07:07

Yeah lots of things about COVID prevention suck but, you know, lots of people have fucking died.

SpringtimeSummertime · 10/04/2021 07:08

Blame.the.tabloids.not.the.government.

(Can’t believe I just wrote something in defence of that shit show but there’s always a first).

Woodpecker22 · 10/04/2021 07:10

It annoys me that these guidelines were obviously designed by a male who has not idea that a haircut might need to take more than 30 minutes. I see there are no equivalent guidelines for how long Boris can take to drink his pint.
