OP posts:

@BonnieDundee

I get this can be a last straw but it's not actually happening it's guidance! Get your knickers in a twist IF it is made law

I think the problem.the.OP has is the amount of.time guidance has been quoted as if.it was The.Law.

You only have to look at the number of fines that were wrongly handed out to.people for.breaking the guidelines or the "spirit of the law"

Or the people who had curtain twitching neighbours who were.timing them to check they were not out for more than an hour last March

The problem is the OP enjoys citing articles - without reading them carefully - and creating a froth about them where none exists.

Temp023 · 10/04/2021 07:18

If it ain’t on the BBC it never happened!

loulouljh · 10/04/2021 07:26

I do think the Government is losing its mind. This is now not about Covid but about control. You have every reason to feel pissed off about it all. It is stupid. Nonsense.

Kimye4eva · 10/04/2021 07:32

I see there are no equivalent guidelines for how long Boris can take to drink his pint.

Not really comparable when Boris will be drinking his pint outside for the next 5 weeks.

emilyfrost · 10/04/2021 07:36

Those slating the OP, have you never over the past year come to a point where something has been your last straw?

@BonnieDundee No. All we’ve had to do is stay at home for a year (not even that, with the break in lockdowns). It’s really not that hard; it’s not like we’ve been through two world wars like previous generations had to.

Parents really need to start instilling emotional resilience in their children because the majority of people are severely lacking an ability to cope.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 10/04/2021 07:39

My hairdresser is doing my usual ballyage and pink highlights next week.

BonnieDundee · 10/04/2021 07:51

Ah that old chestnut. People lived through world wars so we're not allowed to complain about anything ever again.
Got a nice line in gaslighting yourself. People have been asked not to see their families for a long time, indeed not only that but could risk a fine for doing so. And you think thats "not hard" Grin

BruceAndNosh · 10/04/2021 07:56

@PurpleOkapi

That doesn't make sense. Wouldn't multiple short appointments put everyone at more risk than fewer longer appointments that took the same total time? More people coming and going means more risk of exposure.
Thank you for typing out my thoughts!
PissTestRightNowDaniella · 10/04/2021 08:00

Dear lord alive, calm your tits....

I'm booked in for a cut and highlights on Monday - the guidelines say to make things as quick as possible, not that you have to be in and out in ten minutes.

SpringtimeSummertime · 10/04/2021 08:01

It’s an insult to those who have died alone, those have lost loved ones and have been unable to be with them, suffered illness themselves at the hands of Covid, have seen their businesses and livelihoods disappear, those who have been unable to see and comfort relatives in care homes, those who have worked on the ICU wards.

Complaining about hair dye is VERY insensitive and insulting in context.

Exactly.

Not to mention medical treatments being delayed, key workers risking their own and families health etc.

WaitingForNormality · 10/04/2021 08:03

I can't get worked up about this. It's not law. Overwhelming majority - if not all- hairdressers won't follow this Anyway.

Fwiw I'm booked for full head of highlights and cut and blow dry next week and my hairdresser hasn't batted an eyelid or mentioned she couldn't possibly have such a long appointment. Tbh, she makes most her money from colouring appointments so she's hardly going to curb those after having been shut for months is she!

SpringtimeSummertime · 10/04/2021 08:05

DD has an appt. next week for a 3 hr balayage. IF it doesn’t happen (it will because there is no ban on bloody hair dye ffs) the world won’t end.

Atalantea · 10/04/2021 08:05

@MercyBooth

Im fucking sick of how we are all being shat on and shat on and shat on. The sacrifices the public have made and the abuse from them just keeps on coming.
There is no mention of highlighting not being allowed in the link you shared in your op.

Government guidelines state that hair and beauty salons “should keep appointments short and consider providing shorter, more basic treatments to keep the time to a minimum”.

And really, even if it was, I'm not sure how you are "being shat on" because you can't change your hair colour 🤔

SpringtimeSummertime · 10/04/2021 08:08

Not to mention medical treatments being delayed, key workers risking their own and families health etc.

Exactly! If the OP had written a post telling us that her long awaited medical appointment had been cancelled (again) and it was the final straw for her she would have my sympathy in bucketloads.

bumbleymummy · 10/04/2021 08:08

What a shitty thoughtless post. It’s not just ‘staying at home’. You have no idea what some people are going through and their struggles have absolutely nothing to do with not being ‘resilient’ enough.
daffodilsandprimroses · 10/04/2021 08:09

It’s not just staying home for a year though.

savethegrannies · 10/04/2021 08:09

Op.dont you realise people lived through wars 😂😂😂. No really!

TheVolturi · 10/04/2021 08:12

🙄🙄🤣🤣🤣

MandalaYogaTapestry · 10/04/2021 08:12

I am confused. When last year pubs were opened the rule - not the guidance but the actual rule - was that you can only have a drink if you order a main meal. The point was to limit the number of quick customers that only come for a drink and thus reduce the overall traffic.

But with the hairdressers the guidance is the opposite? More people, shorter appointments? Doesn't make sense

HermioneWeasley · 10/04/2021 08:13

People are craving normality and OP had an expectation based on previous information which she was worried would not now go ahead. After a year, it’s a completely understandable “last straw” moment.

I’m astonished how slowly the government are unlocking - I really don’t understand what’s in it for them to have no economy left and peoples mental health completely trashed, but that’s what they’re choosing to do.

bluelemming · 10/04/2021 08:13

Blimey. It's hair.

daffodilsandprimroses · 10/04/2021 08:14

I won’t lie, I’d be really upset if I couldn’t get my highlights done.

Yes, I know that makes me a Bad Person Who Did Not Live Through The War. But there it is.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 10/04/2021 08:15

I realise it’s guidance and not law, but it’s still shit.

Same as the massive ridiculous list of guidance for pubs and restaurants.

Just a huge hassle all round

Carycy · 10/04/2021 08:19

I would rather have 3 or 4 long appointments in a day than multiple short appointments.
The more people you are exposed to the more risk there is. Utter idiocy.
