There aren't any covid passports at this time.
No one's suggesting people need covid passports to go to the hairdressers and even some of the other things you mention are only in the discussion stages and might not happen at all.
Even if a proof of vaccination is requested to attend a gig or other event it doesn't impact on how affordable it is to go.
There are people who can't afford to go to the hairdressers either.
Your bringing up not having gone abroad since 1986 is irrelevant.

I totally agree, I'm completely sick of this situation as well. You can't travel anywhere, have to wear an uncomfortable mask all the time, and can't get NHS dental treatment due to the backlog. And the government seem to keep introducing arbitrary Covid rules to follow. But even worse than this is that so many people seem quite happy to give up their freedoms & follow these crazy rules. Then we've got brexit ruining the country, and again a lot of people seem quite happy with this! This country seems like a completely alien place to me now.

I really struggle to see your point of view here. I don't think the government are sitting around plotting how to "gaslight" and "abuse" the nation. Yes, we have had lockdowns like most countries around the world, and each time we have had a lockdown the number of infections has dropped. So instead of the victim mindset why not just take it on the chin for what is really a matter of a few more weeks?

I'm with you on this, OP. Lockdowns I can cope with, it's the hope then despair of constantly moving goalposts that I find difficult.

Fair enough if there was any truth in it, but nobody is stopping hairdressers from doing highlights so it's a load of hot air and people threatening to shave their hair off for no reason

And once more for the seats at the back..................HOW MANY TIMES HAVE POLICE AND OTHER OFFICIALS CONFUSED GUIDANCE WITH LAW.

Are they going to patrol salons and ask for a time log for each customer? Fine them if highlights take 20 mins more than the average time? Obviously not.

Have you actually RTFT? I guess ever changing goalposts and rules, restrictions and guidelines that have no basis in science and feel purely like an experiment or exercise in control hold no concerns for you?

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind I agree with you totally. Right from the beginning, many of the "rules" didn't seem to make any sense at all. For instance, you couldn't have a one-to-one visit your elderly relatives, but said relatives were perfectly ok to go shopping in a crowded supermarket & mix with hundreds of people. Given the track record of the current administration, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were conducting some sort of social experiment to see how compliant people can be. Unfortunately, the answer seems to be very compliant...

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind yes, I read the thread hence referring to OPs later comments about abuse and gaslighting. I think a lot of people just love the drama of it all and love to point the finger at everyone else. Nothing horrendous is being asked of you. It is to keep the numbers low (although with everyone rushing out to get their highlights they won't stay low for long) and protect us.

There is no evidence that people getting highlights is going to be majorly responsible for a surge in numbers. That's ridiculous and makes a mockery of risk assessment.

The vaccinations will help along with other measures as the lock down restrictions ease. I don't see what's chilling about the confirmation that the lock down measures have been effective.

I can't understand how we can get our hair washed, cut and coloured which involves at least 1 person getting close to us and yet can't meet with people indoors even if you sit 10 feet apart.

My hair desperately needs cutting and colouring but I won't be going for quite a while yet. My appointment always takes a minimum of 3 hours and in that time my hairdresser will have at least another 4 customers. The shop is quite small so no way can they all keep a safe distance

I’m really surprised at that. Are you sure they haven’t made any amendments to the number of clients they book in at a time?

I haven’t been yet unfortunately but certainly prior to this recent lockdown my salon made quite a few adjustments to limit the number of clients in at any one time. They reduced the number of stylists working each shift so fewer clients in and I don’t think they had any assistants (so one person washes, coloured and cut your hair).

My hairdresser is fab. Its on two floors which makes it easier. And its like being in a scene on Silent Witness with all the PPE.

My hairdresser works alone and I will be the only client there when I go.
