I just want my cut and colour.

Its only guidelines not law. True yes but how many times have the police conflated the two.

I’m done. It’s not an extreme reaction it’s a reaction to the latest in a long line of lies and dissemination. What next, can’t stay more than 30 mins in a pub or restaurant when they eventually open.

Staffy1 · 10/04/2021 01:07

I'm a lot more concerned that urgent operations have been cancelled and still no news on when they are actually going to happen, if ever. Why aren't people making more of a fuss about that than stupid hair appointments that we can all survive without.

MercyBooth · 10/04/2021 01:13

@Staffy1 I AM I AM ALLOWED TO CARE ABOUT MORE THAN ONE THING 85 year old DM fell over at home and broke her wrist back in Feb due to lack of mobility. 84 year old dad had severe abdominal pain 4 weeks ago and 111 said it didnt warrant an ambulance.

OP posts:
ArcheryAnnie · 10/04/2021 01:17

This, quoted in the article, is demonstrably untrue:

"I don’t think the time a client spends with us makes any difference to be honest. Whether it’s half an hour or three and a half hours, if you’re going to catch something, you’re going to catch it within the first five minutes."

The evidence we have is that the longer an indoor meeting is, the riskier it is.

That said, as everyone else has said, it's guidence, not law. But since I've had covid, and am still ill more than a year later, I'm not pissing about because I can't risk getting it again. A short bob, no colour, it is for me.

MercyBooth · 10/04/2021 01:24

So why is that guidance being issued NOW when we have vaccines but not last summer when there were no vaccines at all.

OP posts:
ArcheryAnnie · 10/04/2021 01:32

Well, the longer covid goes on, the more information we have about it. Eg very early on some sources said it wasn't airborne at all, but transmitted by surfaces, and now we know it's more likely to be transmitted via droplets in air than on surfaces.

I'm keen for this all to be over, not least because my job depends on it, which is why I am still being cautious. It was the government not being cautious enough (eg with the eat out to help out scheme) that led us into a winter spike. The more cautious we are now, the sooner this shit is done. Doesn't mean we have to lock ourselves away altogether, but we still have to be fairly careful.

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 10/04/2021 01:44

Omg without highlights I mean its all over!

MercyBooth · 10/04/2021 01:52

Actually looking on the bright side, i dont go to pubs or restaurants or coffee shops, so this is the only thing that i could possibly need a vaccine passport for should they bring it in. Without this i wouldnt need one at all.

Omg it’s EXACTLY like Gilead isn’t it?

I remember that part in the book when one of the handmaidens booked a hair treatment and then some guidance suggested that hair salons should try and keep appointments as short as possible. Truly harrowing stuff.

MercyBooth · 10/04/2021 02:34

For some of the salons it will be. Colours and treatments are how they make their money.

Honestly it seems some really do believe that these lockdowns can be paid for with magic beans!

@user1471447924

Oh my god what a fuss over nothing. I can’t roll my eyes hard enough.
Agree. Totally losing it over a hair cut is worrying.
Mintjulia · 10/04/2021 02:54

Spoke to all the females in our family today. We've all got appointments at salons next week. All for cut & colour or highlights. That's nine different locations, no restrictions. It'll be fine.

So take a deep breath and then get some sleep. Brew

TheClaws · 10/04/2021 04:03

@AcornAutumn

I hope Mercy doesn't mind me saying this

Mercy has made many measured contributions and absolutely sees all sides in a calm rational way.

In fact, unlike me, I think Mercy did not begin from a place of being anti lockdown?

But there is bound to be a last straw and some moments where we feel completely unable to cope.

Sorry, Acorn, I'd have to disagree with you there. I've always found Mercy's posts to be the opposite of rational. I can always count on her to take the side that tips more to the conspiracy. Mercy, take a deep breath. It's really okay. It isn't - and won't be - Gilead.

Sparklingbrook · 10/04/2021 05:00

It makes sense really. If you can avoid it don't spend prolonged periods of time indoors close to people from other households still. Hence no indoor meeting or no eating inside at pubs. Having a colour you will be doing exactly that with all the staff and other people doing the same.

Some people may feel that's not a risk they want to take, others will feel their hair is worth that risk. Looking at this thread people think it's worth it.

Roonerspismed · 10/04/2021 05:04

The government has lost its mandate.

flatten the curve...they said....and now what kind of hair do you can get after a year. Please please protest to your local MP about this utter shit

emilyfrost · 10/04/2021 05:07

Christ, calm the fuck down. You’ve not been psychologically abused, nor have you been shat on.

You need to take some personal responsibility; if you’ve been comfort eating and gained weight that’s on nobody but you and you need to find a better way of coping.

Im fucking sick of how we are all being shat on and shat on and shat on. The sacrifices the public have made and the abuse from them just keeps on coming.

I’m as pissed off as the next person about the state of my hair (and that of DC1 with their poor lockdown haircut), but the level of hyperbole here is something truly special, even for MN standards.

That is really harsh. Completely unnecessary and devoid of empathy.
FakeFruitShoot · 10/04/2021 05:40

God so many spiteful people on here.

It's shit OP isn't it? It's not something on my radar but if it was something I enjoyed spending money on I'd be angry and upset at the prospect of having it taken away a few days before.

It doesn't sound as though many salons will be following the guidance and I know it's where lots of revenue comes from so hopefully you'll get your appointment soon.

Sparklingbrook · 10/04/2021 05:44

so hopefully you'll get your appointment soon

Isn't OP all booked in for Wednesday?

SpringtimeSummertime · 10/04/2021 05:59

This is really bizarre.
You have been told over and over that guidance is in place (nothing more) yet you’re ignoring those posts.

OP: ‘Hairdressers can’t dye hair’
(Many many people) ‘Yes they can, this is why...’
OP: I just can’t believe hairdressers can’t dye hair!’

😳

Hyperfish101 · 10/04/2021 06:08

When considering how the government may have ‘shat’ on people recently, the denial of highlights is pretty low on the list.
