I just want my cut and colour.

I've a 3 hour appointment booked and paid for at a huge high street fancy chain next week 🤷‍♀️

TheClaws · 11/04/2021 05:03

New guidelines say all hairdressers must reduce the time customers spend in their chairs so any services offered should be "short and basic" treatments- but hairdressers say that will disadvantage black customers

Mercy are these rules or guidelines? The excerpt you posted does not make it clear at all.

beginningoftheend · 11/04/2021 06:15

It is quite sobering to read those guidelines, I think there must be a lot of concern still, the whole vibe this year is so different to the EOTHO period.

Oblomov21 · 11/04/2021 06:22

I too think this is ridiculous.

Some of the rules and guidance are really starting to piss me off now.

And camping. 1st May bank holiday. Email today re our caravan site. Saying we can use the toilet, wash up our dishes and use the washing machine. But no shower. What a wierd rule!!
But, you can use the shower if you go to a gym? Eh? What's the logic of that? Hmm

Againstmachine · 11/04/2021 08:13

These rules discriminate against black people.

Crying discrimination really isn't helpful, when people of any colour can't have long treatments.

Carycy · 11/04/2021 08:22

I’ve got a 4 hour appointment booked. Sod these ridiculous rules.

FuckeryOmbudsman · 11/04/2021 08:29

The guidance is here

www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19/close-contact-services

It doesn't say what the media articles are purporting that it does.

I suspect the hairdressers who are commenting have not read the updated guidance

All it says under the 'mitigating actions section' is

"keeping the activity time involved as short as possible"

So if it's a six hour treatment, don't take six and a half.

It doesn't say that treatments must not be longer than a specific cut off time.

People of any colour can have long treatments

AnimalLover6 · 11/04/2021 17:20

ha ha ha ha ha seriously...i hadn't seen this news....no highlights 😆

nannygoat50 · 11/04/2021 17:21

My hairdresser says I have to have a skin test before she will colour . Despite the fact I’ve had same brand in colour on for years!!!!She said it’s because COVID can make you react snd her insurance won’t cover her 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️WTF

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/04/2021 17:28

Mine hasn't mentioned a skin test and I won't be asking!

MercyBooth · 11/04/2021 17:31

My hairdresser has always done skin tests if a customer hasnt had a colour for three months +

OP posts:
mooonstone · 11/04/2021 17:36

@nannygoat50 isn’t it common knowledge that you can suddenly have a reaction to a product you have used before? Essentially your body may no longer tolerate exposure to it, COVID or not. So that’s a completely normal policy 🤦🏼‍♀️

MercyBooth · 11/04/2021 17:37

@Oblomov21 Yeah preventing someone from showering. Thats deffo good virus prevention and all about the hygiene Hmm

OP posts:
JBEM4 · 11/04/2021 17:38

Jesus fucking christ people what is wrong with you?

 1. don't believe everything you read - stylists can do highlights/colours with added precautions taken.

 2. if you feel so outraged that you possibly couldn't have the treatment done imagine how awful it would have been for your stylist, losing a massive amount of income

 3. give your sodding heads a wobble! The correct info is readily available if you bothered to look for it and it would have taken less time than having an embarrassing meltdown on a public forum.

nannygoat50 · 11/04/2021 17:39

moonstone ,No it’s not . I’ve never had to have a skin test before except the first time and she told me that it’s because of covid and her insurance cover!!!

Lizzyblue · 11/04/2021 17:39

I'm shocked by some of the responses here. I don't think it's an overreaction at all actually. I think it's over a year of restrictions and it's just come to the surface of enough is enough for OP.

Just because you may be coping well during this, doesn't mean everyone else is or has to. It is hard. And for the ww2 comments, erm how everyone feels is personal and allowed. If she needs to vent she needs to vent.

Be kind everyone.

Fembot123 · 11/04/2021 17:42

@TheWaif

You just scared the shit out of me. Click bait nonsense, thanks.
Are you a hairdresser?
Boujee · 11/04/2021 17:47

Hairdresser here, l will be doing all hair as usual with the relevant covid 19 rules, however skin testing is absolutely necessary as people have had very bad reactions to colour after Covid and some with the covid vaccine, it only takes a minute, any Hairdresser not doing this is absolutely crazy imo.

SmashedAvocado · 11/04/2021 17:48

DD is having highlights done tomorrow at our local salon. She’s been in this week for an allergy test which they did regularly even before Covid.

Salons will probably interpret the guidelines as they want to. Would they make more profit from doing 4/5 cuts and blow drys instead of one cut and colour? I’m sure there’ll be no shortage of just cuts wanted.

nopuppiesallowed · 11/04/2021 17:54

Look. We all hate this Lockdown. It's absolutely foul. It's had an adverse effect on the mental health of some people and made the rest of us sad and miserable and angry - and when we're sad and miserable and unhappy, the next step is angry. BUT don't go running away with the idea that Britain is handling this worse than any other country. I have a brother in the States. Boy - is he mad at how it's been handled there and the people who insist if you have a strong immune system, you are immune to Coronavirus and refuse to wear masks. My brother in Spain is amazed at the number of people there who don't wear masks and social distancing is a dream. Madrid, anyone?Did you know that all intensive care beds in Germany are full according to a journalist I know very well who has also covered the story in Brazil (Manaus, Rio). I don't expect we'll hear much about the bed situation in Germany from the BBC.....In some third world countries where the numbers are lower than you'd expect may have overcrowding, but they also live outdoors a lot (transmission is lower outside) and the population is younger. So be angry about your hair - I was so mad about mine, I cut a chunk off in a rage. But anger won't help. I've learnt that....

TheWaif · 11/04/2021 18:05

@Fembot123 No I'm someone with a desperately needed highlights appointment booked for next week.

RollWithThePunches · 11/04/2021 18:11

Lucky you can get a cut! Our devolved government hasn’t even had a meeting yet about reopening hairdressers. My hair’s so thick that I look like Crystal Tips at the minute. (Sorry Millennials you won’t have a clue who that is!!)

DHdweller · 11/04/2021 18:39

😂😂😂😂

Fembot123 · 11/04/2021 18:42
@Fembot123 No I'm someone with a desperately needed highlights appointment booked for next week.
Ahh I see 😄

Sinthie · 11/04/2021 19:08

I -understand the rage, but it’s just the usual Tory BS to cover their backs. Book with someone who will do your usual - I’m sure most will.
