After they organise the Vac passport scheme will they mark which Vaccine you have had.
Might they then try and grade the person as Safe -Safer - Safest as a way of restricting us?

Baileysforchristmas · 30/03/2021 16:49

@ForeverAintEnough12 i’m not defensive about it, my husband had Pfizer, so did did my parents, i’m just glad we’re all vaccinated, have you been vaccinated yet?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 30/03/2021 16:50

The RR of a 40% mortality rate in a one in one hundred thousand occurrence?

OK! Has anyone worried about that looked at the RR of many other daily occurrences? Using approximate comparisons:

1 in every 200,000 sky dives
or almost 300,000 cycle rides
or 200,000 plane rides,
or more weirdly, 200,000 dance parties.

Interesting article from the BBC

Austria is basing its threat on the argument that the new Pfizer purchase needs unanimous sign-off from EU countries. According to Austria, that’s because the contract requires Emergency Support Instrument funds and legal approval from the EU’s vaccine steering board, which operates on the basis of intergovernmental consensus.

Many others, however, reject Austria’s rationale.

Yeah you would need to be displayed What have you had / when and maybe batches (tho this last one I guess you dont need it for vac passport)

Romania i.e. you need to enter 2nd dose + 10 days I believe, so can't have the vaccine and fly on that day in

They are now finding that the risk of this severe blood clot is as high as 1 in every 100,000 and chance of death as high as 40%. So it seems prudent to amend age range."

If that were actually true, then we would be seeing very high numbers here in the UK given the tens of millions of vaccines we have done, and elsewhere in the world. The numbers are tiny given the overall number.

I just don't buy it at all, and it is the same thing they did last time packaged in a different way. It was only a few days ago Merkel was singing the praises of AZ and saying she would endorse the vaccine.

I have stopped believing anything that comes out of the EU.

There is no link, no evidence and no proof to any of these claims.
Just more wishy washy claims, and never ever about Pjizer strangely.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 30/03/2021 16:57

Yep! Just looking at the millions who have had their vaccination, even just picking the countries with the most reported cases of severe clotting, you can see that that number is a ludicrous over estimation.

FourTeaFallOut · 30/03/2021 17:00

You'd have thought that we'd have vaccinated a great many women under 55 by this point given under vaccination categories in healthcare, carer workers, unpaid carers, group 4 and group 6. If 1in100k were standard/ accurate, there would be an abundance of evidence to point to by now in the uk, surely?

FourTeaFallOut · 30/03/2021 17:00

Slow typing xpost!

Baileysforchristmas · 30/03/2021 17:04

What are the UK numbers now for AZ, isn’t it 20 million? And what handful of people have been severely ill afterwards?

nursejekyll · 30/03/2021 17:20

The majority of those vaccinated in the UK will be over 55 surely?

EasterIssland · 30/03/2021 17:22

@nursejekyll

There is around 6-7 million people under 55 vaccinated

Many of whom have underlying health issues!

yellowspanner · 30/03/2021 17:25

Everyone in my family have had the AZ and 4 of them are under 50. They put their names down at centres and were contacted when there were vaccines over at the end of the day.
We are all happy with AZ as we would have been with any approved vaccine.
The EU are scaremongering. It looks to me as if it bedlam over there which is not good as I want to go on holiday to France or Italy.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 30/03/2021 17:29

I read somewhere that the clot risk might come from some people's immune system overcompensating by producing too many platelets. I do think that's worth looking into. The article seemed to think there was a test that could be done prior to vaccination and if identified, could be corrected with blood thinners.

Itsalonghaul · 30/03/2021 17:30

Everyone I know having the AZ now is under 50!

Who would have ANY vaccine in Germany after this debacle?!

I would be having a confidence issues by now if I was German. The chancellor literally changed the advice every single day or I would think she is a fake Merkel and completely lost her mind. Germany it is not known for its flip flopping!

Dementedswan · 30/03/2021 17:31

I wonder if there is a link between the pill and the vaccine causing this? That may be why it's younger females being effected?

Theyve probably already looked into that tho. I had AZ 20 days ago and so far fine.. I hope!

Thanks for explaining i wonder how thye resolve these issues.

The more news I hear about az pause suspension the more I think eu should just ditch it and send their leftover stock pile to covax.
The messaging is so odd.
Really at a loss of any sort reasonable conclusion.
I feel sorry for countries in 3rd wave right now as their leaders don't seem rational or have any sense of urgency.
I get the germans can be more risk adverse but if they have loads of covid deaths would it have been worth it.

ForeverAintEnough12 · 30/03/2021 17:40

@Itsalonghaul @CuriousaboutSamphire I didn’t make those figures up. They are being reported in the guardian. I’m not sure why news outlets would report made up figures?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 30/03/2021 17:41

Oh! I'm not doubting YOU just trying to plumb the depths of it all!

ForeverAintEnough12 · 30/03/2021 17:41

@Baileysforchristmas I’m not vaccinated yet as I’m my early 30’s with no health issues.

Baileysforchristmas · 30/03/2021 17:43

@nursejekyll We had 9 groups to vaccinate, out of those 9 groups the last were 50 and over.

One dose has already been offered to:

frontline health and social care staff
elderly care home residents
clinically extremely vulnerable people
over 16s with some health conditions which increase their risk from Covid
adult carers of disabled people and younger adults in care homes

Yes I agree.

I have been wondering the similar, I wondered if in some countries they use a different pill more.

I was going to look up most common Pill used in Germany, Norway and UK to see if there was a difference. Probably isn't, but I like to look for answers.

We already know the pill can cause blood clots, and demographic of these vaccine cases would align with the age of taking the pill.
