Some rather good points raised in the article to be fair

I posted this on the Telegraph Fear thread, so am popping it in here as this is fast becoming my info dump cache Grin

"So, with regards to a timeline as I mentioned before, it seems some commentators have been doing the heavy lifting and I have found and read the following which may be of interest.

ian-js.medium.com/a-national-scandal-a-timeline-of-the-uk-governments-response-to-the-coronavirus-crisis-b608682cdbe

Be warned it's a very very long read.

Interestingly it starts with an overview of pandemic preparedness between 2010 and 2019, which I found helpful for context.

It was last updated on March 27th so nothing about the vaccine passports.

It's from a writer called Ian Sinclair who writes for a publication called By-line times which is based on the idea of fearless investigative journalism covering things not easily found in the mainstream media - I shall be looking further in a minute after I've uncrossed my eyes from everything else I've read.

I've tried to do a bit of due diligence with regards to bias or ulterior motives, having been burned a bit by Spiked on-line, but can't find much other than one comment on an article about By-line by another site where someone accuses them of just picking on all the negative stuff aka the stuff that the MSM ignores / buries IMO grin

bylinetimes.com/about/

The timeline I have posted basically goes through the whole pandemic in the UK quoting salient points from media across the board on a date by date basis, and as I speed read my way through it, I realised how much I have forgotten since those first weeks when we were all wondering WTF this new virus was, and then all the subsequent kerfuffles as it became clearer and clearer the incompetence at play.

While I agree the whole thing seemed to come out of left field at th beginning, and one may have had a smidge of sympathy for the government as they rushed to deal with it, well, this timeline illustrates that actually they didn't - there was more arrogance at play from the top brass which really did contribute to the situation escalating to the point where we lost control very quickly than looking back, can be excused.

Every flip flop, confusion, mixed message and obfuscation can clearly be seen all in one place.

Fear was indeed the only tool they had in their toybox once the genie was out of the bottle, plus the undercurrent of placing the onus on the populous to be responsible rather than looking too hard at the poor beleagured gubmint.

I'm looking forward to see what this publication has to say about vaccine passports etc.

What is clear to me, is that this government has blood on it's hands in spades."

Boris being spectacularly vague at the press conference, not really answering people's questions about pubs, restaurants etc. 'Not planned for the next two stages of the roadmap' to me suggests they'll introduce it from end of June as a way to get around social distancing. They might not make it mandatory for pubs but if they tell them they'll have to carry on with restrictions if they don't implement a passport check then pubs will feel obliged

dividedwefall · 05/04/2021 20:18

Great article thanks @MercyBooth

I came to the same conclusion of the . When Boris started saying that 'there were absolutely no plans to introduce them...... I got a bit giddy. Then he said 'on Monday' Grin what a slippery, devious b*tard he is.

dividedwefall · 05/04/2021 20:20

More worrying is that even the cabinet are not allowed to discuss it. Boris has said he wants it and that's that. I guess he has no choice. Hate to slide into Gates conspiracy theories but that obnoxious bloke decided we were having them at the outset and here we are.

MercyBooth · 05/04/2021 20:21

Reminded me of when Cameron said.......we dont want to cut tax credits.

@reformedcharacters I saw that today That's why it jumped to mind when I heard about Boris saying it was happening, discussion over.

Gates set up ID2020. Pretty lucky for him COVID came along and has given him a completely unexpected chance to try it out. I bet when they ran Event 201 in October (yep, he was behind that too) they couldn't have guessed that all these disparate aims would converge so nicely.

It’s almost a ‘here’s one I made earlier’ moment...

Its been over three weeks since the vigil at Clapham Common. So where is the spike............

Have I missed something?

loulouljh · 05/04/2021 21:27

Thank you to those who have the jab but will not visit places requiring the passport. This is a massive point or principal and cannot be allowed to pass.

Roonerspismed · 05/04/2021 21:34

I agree loulou

What is happening is alarming.

I’m glad I’m not alone in this.

Twoforthree · 05/04/2021 21:44

Well for every person who won't go to the pub etc because of it, there will be others who will go to the pub purely because of it.
Same amount of custom but less chance of being closed down because of a covid outbreak.

It's up to each pub/restaurant as to how much risk they want to take depending on their capacity with social distancing versus non social distancing.

MercyBooth · 05/04/2021 23:15

@loulouljh I will be having the vaccine when its my turn (im 47) but wont be using anywhere that asks for one of these.

Incidentally we already ARE a papers please nation by stealth. Since December i have been carrying a printout of the support bubbles list (cant bring myself to say roolz) in my handbag in case i got/get stopped by over zealous Plod.

HCHY4 · 05/04/2021 23:18

For the economy to get back to where it was, wouldn’t that require every single person to behave exactly as they have done prior to this? I just can’t see that happening. Behaviours will change on the back of this.

Yes I keep thinking about this, will those who are keen to go out do sufficient 'extra' trips to make up for the inevitable group who will go less/not go?

Interestingly one of the test events - comedy night in Liverpool - has been cancelled by the club owners who have released a statement heavily criticising the govt

Yes, there full statement is on their Facebook page. They were never made aware by the government of any involvement of vaccine passports, the media then also ran misleading articles about it. They should sue for their reputation being trashed.

I went to the pub this week. It was great. You forget the simple joys of socialising.
