Agree, also those predictions of people 'dropping like flies' once schools opened didn't happen either thankfully. If only there was a system where people who have needlessly caused stress and anxiety (plus some blatant lies) would come back and say, sorry. So vocal when making the predictions, strangely quiet now...

PomLikeTheBattle · 23/04/2021 10:04

@MissConductUS Thank you for the link.

Not Covid related, but from the same lab as Oxford/AZ vaccine. You have to applaud these scientists. A vaccine for Malaria would be truly groundbreaking..... they have been trying for 100 years!!!!! I hope they get recognition for this, after all the bad press from the Covid vaccine.

😉

herecomesthsun · 23/04/2021 11:05

It's interesting that all parties probably feel they were right!

I'm really glad we have been going with a cautious approach with testing and some mitigations like masks in secondary schools alongside the vaccine roll out, and that things have gone well so far!

herecomesthsun · 23/04/2021 11:07

By the way, this is not supposed to be a thread for right wingers who want to take pot shots at other posters, it is supposed to be a "good news" thread for people who want to be "positive".

There isn't much positivity in sniping at people who are posting good news?

herecomesthsun · 23/04/2021 11:08

I raise you
"Chris Whitty was right to advise caution and we are seeing the benefits now! Grin

Bordois · 23/04/2021 11:11

Right wingers 🤣

PomLikeTheBattle · 23/04/2021 11:11

Right wingers?? @herecomesthsun what an unpleasant comment to make. Perhaps optimism is the word you were looking for ?

As someone who likes a plan - I stuck the road map on the fridge 😂

Agree - scientists are amazing.

herecomesthsun · 23/04/2021 11:13

We can agree in admiring the scientists Grin.

PomLikeTheBattle · 23/04/2021 11:19

I think this thread was very good for balancing all the unnecessary negative threads which had no evidence base.
Absolutely correct to provide reassurance about other threads which were causing anxiety.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/04/2021 11:56

@herecomesthsun

Not sure you get the idea. It would have to be

WHITTY IS A TORY MINION AND DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT

or

MY HUSBAND/BEST FRIEND/NEIGHBOUR IS A EXPERT AND SAYS WHITTY IS WRONG

I get the idea though 😊

Bordois · 23/04/2021 11:58

WHITTY JUST WANTS TO CLING ON TO HIS FAME AND THE MONEY HE IS GETTING!!!1!11!1111!!!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/04/2021 12:01

I think people get the wrong idea and think the good news thread is about being blinkered and positive bunnies all the time. When actually we tend to try and offer a more balanced approach. Granted mostly the positive angle but I feel posters are pretty honest about things.

Plus we like to prat about sometimes Grin

PomLikeTheBattle · 23/04/2021 12:04

@Bordois and yet he looks like someone who wants to avoid fame at all costs ...
Tracey from fb all over again 🤣

I’ve just been for a run - I don’t think I can get on my summer clothes.

Good one 😂

That fame hungry Whitty. It was a twilight zone moment when posters started that argument

PomLikeTheBattle · 23/04/2021 12:05

I quite like Chris, Patrick and Sir Simon 😳

Must be my right wing ness

Bordois · 23/04/2021 12:08

Is it time for this again?
