Went for a drive into town yesterday, past our mass vaccination site. It was heaving. A long, long, queue of white haired old ladies. Sorry for the ageist descriptive, but indicative of the number of second vaccines they are obviously rolling out. Which is a good thing. Only four deaths since 1st March, and none since 22nd March, so a whole month without a hospital death (large main county hospital).

Getting there folks 👍

Vaccine uptake among over 50s hits 95% in England

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/04/2021 18:00

Deaths are down to 7 day rolling average of 22.3 a day

Hopefully we will see that go into single figures soon

OrangeBananaFish · 22/04/2021 18:07

Thank you @Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

I'm struggling a bit. Think it's the weather and I just want to get on with things, but until they start to open more I'm stuck.

We're still going the right way. Not long now.

Some great news on Twitter - the AZ vaccine seems to protect against this Indian double mutation. I feel for people in India right now as it looks awful there but it is also nice to see that we will likely be ok here if it really hits our shores.

Was just coming on to post this.

Need to fanfare this all over Mumsnet!!

Except there will be "buts", "sorry", "I'm afraid " or just plain ignoring

As of this past Monday, everyone in the US age 16 and over is eligible for the Pfizer jab. Moderna was approved for ages 18 and over. We're still doing over three million jabs a day.

I think someone from MNHQ must be cross with me. I posted on here a few days ago and it's already come off my threads I'm on list.

PomLikeTheBattle · 22/04/2021 20:59

@MissConductUS that’s such good progress.
Have you any opinion on when you think USA will allow international travel?

With pcr tests etc of course ...

tobee · 22/04/2021 21:02

Talking of USA just found this on my AP News app:-

It is good progress, thanks.

I think international travel is allowed now, but I haven't been paying that much attention. Here's the current guidance:

www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html

If you wanted to visit from the UK I think it would be fine. If you ring BA or another airline that flies here I'm sure they'll know.

Makemake · 22/04/2021 21:45

I've lurked on these posts for months now, bit I wanted to say thank you for the post about under 45s being able to book. I'm 43 and have been able to book my vaccine, I'm in Buckinghamshire.

OrangeBananaFish · 22/04/2021 22:54

A friend has just posted on FB that she has managed to book. I know her from school as she lives in the local area and since we're rural I assume the same doctors as there aren't any others. She said about being early 40s (I don't know her exact age though) so I'm nearly there

herecomesthsun · 23/04/2021 06:14

I have a Facebook friend I regularly have to hide as she constantly posts stuff like this and gets loads of agreeing comments. Makes me doubt myself before I remember it’s nonsense. Apparently everyone who steps outside their house is selfish and puts money before people’s lives.
