Stay at Home........

I’ve stayed at home throughout for the most part but I’m concerned that I didn’t stay “the fuck” at home. I understand it’s important from posts I’ve read on here. Does that mean I’m going to get Covid? Can anyone tell me how I can make my staying at home more “the fuck”?

I think you are doomed OP I’m afraid. Staying at home only counts if you “the fuck” the shit out of it. :(

TheSockMonster · 03/03/2021 13:08

@Chunkymenrock I’m sorry you’ve lost someone Flowers

This thread is championing staying at home and quietly following the rules. The mirth is firmly aimed at those who’ve weaponised following the rules into a game of social status climbing.

Mrsfrumble · 03/03/2021 13:12

I wouldn’t be so sure @kungfupannda. Derbyshire police seem to be so intent on overreaching their remit we might well find them in Hackney when they’ve run out of dog walkers with take out coffees to intimidate on their own turf.

(And yes, I have lost a loved one to Covid. I still find this thread funny, because I can grasp that it’s not mocking victims, but the performative and pointless nature of social media sanctimony.)

Curlygirl06 · 03/03/2021 13:14

@MaudesMum

I failed to take a selfie when being vaccinated earlier this week, so I couldn't post it on social media, whilst also changing my profile picture to an I've been Vaccinated sticker, and expressing exceptional gratitude to all concerned. This was because I was in and out of a suburban pharmacies side room at the speed of light, and no-one even gave me a sticker. I should have stayed the fuck at home...
I had my vaccine yesterday and whilst waiting for my friend ( sorry, she should have walked the 7 miles to the centre, rather than me giving her a lift as she can't drive, selfish bitch) and I was surprised at how many people were taking selfies of themselves with the vaccination centre in the background. Does that make the vaccine work better? Asking for a friend.

NRTFT sorry - can't take it anymore - but the OP made me laugh a lot so thank you 😊

KeepWashingThoseHands · 03/03/2021 13:28

@TheSockMonster

You can’t just simply buy “damn” masks. When behaviour is worthy of full STFAH status you’ll be notified with coordinates of a pick up spot. Included are instructions on how to identify other damn mask wearers in the supermarket (look out for the sign, they’re waiting Wink)

FlowersInSpringtime · 03/03/2021 13:32

@Chunkymenrock

It's easy to take the piss isn't it, when you don't know anyone who's died or been seriously affected. Hmm
I'm also sorry if you are grieving. Believe me I have been affected also which is I try hard to get a sense of perspective (and this thread is taking the piss out of the extreme end of the scale, not the ordinary people behaving themselves and just quietly getting on with it the best we can. I think we can all strive for that and still try and laugh?

I really could have done with a thread like this in the first lockdown when the government (I'm CEV) put the fucking fear of God into me with their "if you sit on the doorstep stay 2m away from your neighbours" and "get your end of life plans ready".

I would guess the overwhelming majority of people on this thread and actually following the rules and guidelines ourselves. I think we are taking the piss out of people who are also doing this but performatively (is that a word, I'm sorry if not!)

My mother died of covid March 31st so am I excused or do i have to wait until I'm "allowed" to smile again????

How about a FB update like this? Or better still, a profile pic?

Stay at Home........

I think it's also very cathartic to express my bitterness feelings about not being able to STFAH as my family are facilitating others to be able to do this (on minimum wage with no job security). It does rankle when people make a fucking huge fuss about staying at home (a lot of them with much higher incomes) and judging those who don't. These people exclude from their judging though "well known" keyworkers like nurses and teachers and simply don't think about the huge numbers of people picking your bread and milk from supermarket shelves and delivering it to them so they can make a huge big deal of how virtuous they are staying at home. They don't think of someone at Amazon picking your ink cartridges or coloured pencils in a huge warehouse and putting them on a conveyor belt (and repeating this for ten hour shifts) so other peoples' DC can print out their homework and draw rainbows for their windows.

Fuck me I am bitter Blush

Understandably so. I think this every time I see a field full of East Europeans picking cabbages in the pouring bloody rain.

It's almost as if the stay the fuck at homers NEED lower class poorer foreign poorer paid other people to facilitate them staying at home and therefore saving the NHS. Who'd have thought?

I don’t blame you for being bitter, to be fair.

VERY true. I don't think you sound bitter at all.

There are lots of industries that have continued to operate throughout and people have continued to go out to work, being unable to STFAH even if they had wanted to!

LucilleTheVampireBat · 03/03/2021 13:58

Bold fail.

Neverspeakofthisagain · 03/03/2021 13:59

@Chunkymenrock

I'm sorry you've lost someone. I am attending a funeral tomorrow - the second one I've been to and the third Covid related death that has touched my life.

That doesn't stop me rolling my eyes at people who are doing 'Performance Rule Following'.

TheSockMonster · 03/03/2021 14:03

@KeepWashingThoseHands oh dear, looks like I’ve only managed to stay at home rather than STFAH Sad

To inspire us all to do better I am uploading screenshots of a local Facebook buying and selling page admin who has definitely been Staying The Fuck At Home.

In the last week she has also listed her car for sale (to Key Workers only, one presumes) and mercilessly flogged the craft shit she makes. As far as I can tell else has their posts declined and a public reminder to just Stay The Fuck At Home.

She is an inspiration to us all (and doubtlessly has a whole drawer full of Damn Masks)

Stay at Home........

I wear a facemask at home. If you don’t wear a mask in the shower and in bed you are murdering old ladies!

Floral ones.

Jourdain11 · 03/03/2021 14:13

I'm literally sobbing and shaking as I read this. Don't people realise that we need to stop being so selfish and STAY AT HOME? Every time you go out you're potentially killing someone, or you might catch the virus and take up a hospital bed! Maybe when you're on a VENTILATOR you'll take it seriously? Why can't people just STAY THE FUCK AT HOME AND SAVE LIVES? How hard is it to sit on your arse and watch Netflix? Just think of what it was like for people in the war! The government should only allow people to go out once a week and the army could do food drops for necessities.

Jourdain11 · 03/03/2021 14:20

Is that good enough for a badge?

trappedsincesundaymorn · 03/03/2021 14:37

You missed "WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A GLOBAL PANDEMIC and "I DESPARE"...but other than that, spot on, you're medal is on its way...make sure you wash it with bleach before you wear it though, cant be too careful. Grin

Thank COVID that the selfless admin of that fb selling page is saving each and every one of the "vunrable" people. Imagine buying yourself a chester draws and finding it riddled with rona.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 03/03/2021 14:57

Actually, if you're going to do it properly, you need to quarantine it in the garage for at least 3 days and then give it a "jolly good wash with hot soapy water".
