I want the travel restrictions lifted so I can travel to see family. Missing my parents and DD.

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2021 16:39

It's just a plan isn't it?
I really hope it works. I want it to work.
We need caution still , but at least it's something to look forwards to. Not back.

Fembot123 · 22/02/2021 16:39

I’ll have my fingers crossed for you @TwirpingBird and all whose families aren’t near.

userxx · 22/02/2021 17:02

@TwirpingBird Where have you seen 21st June for foreign travel ?

Crazycatlady83 · 22/02/2021 17:06

Helpful little photo (from Twitter) Looks like no foreign travel until 17th May at the earliest

Looks like the plans are now leaked.

and still not hairdressers...looking like worzel gummidge

StarCat2020 · 22/02/2021 17:26

I think the behaviour of the media will be covered in the public enquiry and may lead to Leveson 2
I agree

Jeeperscreepers69 · 22/02/2021 17:29

Think you will find Boris spoke in house of commons today and said all of this @pinkhappy

StarCat2020 · 22/02/2021 17:29

I find it strange that the Government are considering people to have been vaccinated when they have had their first dose.

Surely the second dose is what "seals the deal" so to speak?

mummacello · 22/02/2021 17:30

Do concerts come under theatre?

jamdonut · 22/02/2021 17:30

Hardly leaked when it was on the tv in Parliament about 3:30 from Boris himself! Just going to repeat himself at 7pm

Phew. Worth checking the time of my post.

@Downriver

It was caused by schools. In London and SE everyone I knew with schoolchildren was falling down in December, including me.
Agreed. Major lockdown again for May bank holiday.

PS Incidence is currently 95 where my son's school is in Kent. In Germany it has to be 35 for them to open up.

VinylDetective · 22/02/2021 17:56

They’ll be locked down for ever then because they’re not vaccinating anyone. We’ve done a third of the adult population already.

Totally agree - same timeline in the Midlands. My concern now is that we could be right back there in a couple of months which will kybosh peoples' summer plans.
Owl55 · 22/02/2021 18:10

It’s a complete farce when Boris makes an announcement as every paper in the UK leaks it or gets it completely wrong before his speech!🤮

itsgettingwierd · 22/02/2021 18:18

@SpiderinaWingMirror

Hairdressers in May Fuck me. I'll look like Brian feckin May by then
🤣🤣

Luckily my hairdresser is a friend who's dd is now training. So I'm safe when we can mix 2 households indoors. I may just avoid a Worzel Gummidge look by then!

namechange63524 · 22/02/2021 18:22

@caspersmagicaljourney agree, but I don't think politically he will do lockdown again. NHS won't be overwhelmed, but there will be a lot of unnecessary long term illness and deaths and opportunity for variants to fuck with the vaccination. In essence, a huge proportion of those not vaccinated are sitting ducks. What an irresponsible thing to do when we are so close. Surely a staggered approach or rota system for a short while to stop numbers increasing so rapidly is more beneficial to everyone. Maybe it's because he can blame the rise on Easter holiday mixing! I'm torn between anxiety going through the roof and thinking fuck it. So fucked off agsin at the senseless deaths this will cause.

merlincat21 · 22/02/2021 18:23

Most of that post was wrong never believe what you read in the newspapers

caspersmagicaljourney · 22/02/2021 18:38

@namechange63524 yes I agree that another lockdown would be political suicide and we are wide open to further variants, but like you said he missed an opportunity to stagger the start time for schools going back which may have slowed down the rise in infection levels.
Most of the adult population is still unvaccinated and most of them are working age which adds to the risk.
We will see, but I remain cautious about the summer.🤔

MGMidget · 22/02/2021 18:47

It’s great for now until a vaccine-resistant variant comes along. Then it may take months to develop a suitable vaccine. We will have another “feel-good” summer like last year but next winter is an unknown at the moment!

AngryBananaSund · 22/02/2021 18:47

I’m sorry if I’ve missed this, but when will hotels reopen? Will they be part of the May release?

Shhhhhush with your realism! They won’t hear it here. Prepare for the backlash in 3, 2, 1....
