I'll be watching the announcement on 22nd with pen and paper. My selfish reasons are:

Mam of a 9 year old so obviously invested in schools return plans

GCSE teacher in a college so very invested in the exams farce

Our lateral flow testing plan is already a farce so hoping for more than 'test them if you can'

Meant to be getting married in July (postponed from last summer) so wondering about that too - although already accepted that we'll not be having the wedding piss up we planned

Are you watching for general reasons or specifics?

School

Holidays

Non retail shops

End lockdown!!!

muddyford · 21/02/2021 12:11

My elderly parents live 200 miles away and I haven't seen them since October. And I haven't seen my sister since July.

minipie · 21/02/2021 12:11

I’m only interested in primary schools. If they are not going back on the 8th I will be drinking. A Lot.

Chewingle · 21/02/2021 12:12

I have booked abroad for end of may so hoping!!

Gertie75 · 21/02/2021 12:12

-primary schools and whether it'll be phased or all years.
-when we can have someone visit our home as I really miss having my best friend round.
-is there even a bit of hope that we'll be able to visit our own caravan in Wales at Easter.

Abracadabra12345 · 21/02/2021 12:13

@duckme

I work in a school and it has honestly been a godsend that I've been able to leave the house a couple of times a week to go to school. I can't wait for them to reopen. It makes perfect sense to get all school staff vaccinated, I hope that will be announced. It should help quash the fears and worries of many school staff.

I want to at least know when UK holidays will be allowed (international travel would be amazing but let's not get carried away Wink).

I would also like theme parks and zoos to reopen. They're predominantly outdoors anyway and it'd be something to do that's not a bloody walk.

I want swimming pools to open. My son tries to swim in the bath at the moment.

I want restaurants to reopen. And shops. I don't mind having to wear a mask, but I'd love to be able to go shopping and not have to queue to get in. It takes all the fun out of it!

I agree with all you’ve said here.
Cowmilk · 21/02/2021 12:14

Schools

I want more shops open, even if it means no one is allowed within 3meters of each other. To many people have lost their lively hood.

Some in-laws want to meet ds3. He is 10 months but we both cancelled meeting up few times already. When we made plans, someone from either family were self isolating. Or ds3 was struggling with cmpa.

WineInTheWillows · 21/02/2021 12:17

Got a staycation booked, payment due on the 26th.

dapsdaps · 21/02/2021 12:17

I want to know what to do about our holiday in the Easter holidays which was moved from last Easter, also our summer holiday which was moved from last summer. I also want to play tennis and go swimming again, we have a lovely 50m outdoor pool and I can't see it staying in business if it has another season of not being open; it was closed all last summer.

MyNameForToday1980 · 21/02/2021 12:20

I'd love to have my mum or friends (separately) over to my house. Not my garden (tiny, chilly, uncomfortable) but my actual house (warm, comfortable).

Ditto when I can sit and have a meal with frends / family in an outside space/restaurant.

For the economy, which affects us all, I'd like to understand the timeline for the full return of the hospitality and arts industries. Though personally I want that as late as possible so we don't end up where we were in November, realistically people can't survive without jobs, and hospitality and the arts employs so many (often poorly paid, so without savings) people.

Minniem2020 · 21/02/2021 12:23

I work for a large travel company so I'll be watching with interest to prepare myself for what kind of phone calls we'll be getting on Tuesday

KarmaNoMore · 21/02/2021 12:25

Have they finally got their act together on A levels grading for this year?

PracticingPerson · 21/02/2021 12:26

I just want to know if Johnson has learnt anything from last year's stupidity or is planning on repeating the same mistakes again.

So the things I am interested in are:

  • is it a cautious school opening or a big bang?
  • are there gaps between phases or is he hoping to do it all quickly?
  • is there going to be another fucking stupid EOTHO car crash this year?
  • is his general vibe going to be back to charge of the light brigade dimwittery?

So I'll be mostly trying to interpret the tone.

LimitIsUp · 21/02/2021 12:28

I'll get an edited summary from the news

clto2021 · 21/02/2021 12:28

I work at a school and am currently studying at college so keen to see the plan for education.

Also desperate to see my family who live a 3 hour drive away. Haven't seen them since October 😔 so interested in travel restrictions/meeting people.

Plus really need my hair done!!! 😂

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 21/02/2021 12:29

Plans for gcse grades for my year 11 dc

School returns for the sanity of my primary age dd

Non essential close contact as to whether I'm actually going to have a business at the end of this all and I need to earn some money as all reserves now completely empty Sad

Outside meeting with family and friends as I really miss it.

Livinglavidalockdown · 21/02/2021 12:29

Thankfully my children are adults so not so worried about schools, but I haven't seen my eldest since March so can't wait to be allowed to meet up with him again.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 21/02/2021 12:31

I want a list of “we’ll open this when cases reach x, hospitalisations reach y, and we’ll open that when ...”. An actual plan linked to actual data.

I’m not expecting one, it’ll be “sadly waffle unfortunately piffle we really hope blah blah”.

I’d like to go swimming, I’d like schools to have the same kind of safety measures as a shop or doctors clinic. I’d like to travel to meet friends who live a long way away, to meet halfway for a day outdoors, I’d like Scouts etc. to be allowed to do outdoor activities.

I think we’re getting an announcement on GCSEs on Thursday. They’ve only had a year to come up with a plan, not expecting much ..

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 21/02/2021 12:32

When schools are opening

When I can legally visit my parents indoors

When self catering holidays with more than one household will be allowed in the UK

When they are going to drop the ridiculous, made up, pulled from their arses number 6 for people meeting. Its not even been brought back yet and it fucks me off beyond belief

whataboutbob · 21/02/2021 12:34

Want my youngest to go back to school (year 9) for the sake of his mental health, and I don’t use that term lightly. For myself, I want to go out of London to a place I can see done sky and breathe fresh air.

PracticingPerson · 21/02/2021 12:36

I too would love a plan linked to data - but we are unlikely to change PM before tomorrow, we are stuck with the careless, useless waffler unfortunately.
DumplingsAndStew · 21/02/2021 12:37

@Tara336

I’m supposed to be marrying in Scotland in April, need to be able to travel, visit hairdressers and beauty salons before we go, also need the numbers increased as currently 5 at a wedding rule included the two witnesses and minister which means we can’t have a photographer. Would love gyms to open asap as well I want to exercise and get fit again
We've been advised to not book even UK holidays at Easter as its likely there will still be significant travel restrictions, so I wouldn't be optimistic of this going ahead Sad

I really hope it does for you though 🤞

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 21/02/2021 12:37

I won't watch it because I find Johnson massively triggering (anger). I want to know about schools, swimming pools, second homes and family staying over.

DumplingsAndStew · 21/02/2021 12:38

I'll probably watch, but it will just be for general information. I'm in Scotland so it doesn't directly affect me, but I like to know how things stand for friends and family elsewhere.

CrunchyCarrot · 21/02/2021 12:38

I thought the pen and paper might be for Boris Bingo. Dang. Grin
