I'll be watching the announcement on 22nd with pen and paper. My selfish reasons are:

Mam of a 9 year old so obviously invested in schools return plans

GCSE teacher in a college so very invested in the exams farce

Our lateral flow testing plan is already a farce so hoping for more than 'test them if you can'

Meant to be getting married in July (postponed from last summer) so wondering about that too - although already accepted that we'll not be having the wedding piss up we planned

Are you watching for general reasons or specifics?

OP posts:
KatherineJaneway · 21/02/2021 11:19

I'll be watching for the update as I want to know the plan in general. I'll make a special point to listen out for any indication on when gyms will reopen and when they plan to let people back to offices as that is what at the moment is most important to me and my own health, mental and physical.

yearinyearout · 21/02/2021 11:22
  • I have a holiday booked in July, moved from last July, booked a year before that.

But I don’t want to do all that if it means lockdown 4 by the end of the year. I can’t go on like this.*

Agreed. I can't be arsed with a repeat of last year.

Aimee1987 · 21/02/2021 11:22

Apologies if this is already answered but does anyone know what time were due an announcement on Monday?

PassionPeach · 21/02/2021 11:22

I just want to see my family. My mum and I live in a different county, which is only 25 minutes away from the rest of our family. I haven't seen my sister in September - I saw her twice in the entirety of 2020. I want to see my niece, who I haven't hugged in over a year. I cry thinking about how good it will feel to give her a squeeze.

I also just want to be able to go to my Mum's and spend proper time with her - take her out for dinner, go to garden centres together and go for a girls day out in our home city.

I also want this for everyone else. I hope you all get some answers tomorrow.

Hoppinggreen · 21/02/2021 11:22

DS is 12 and started a new Secondary in September where he knew nobody. He has managed to make a few friends but it’s hard when he’s been there so little and they haven’t done any of the usual “bonding activities “ like the wilderness weekend.
We have a UK holiday booked for Easter
I am bloody bored
We really enjoy going out for meals

Tupperwarelid · 21/02/2021 11:22

Schools and hairdressers for me. Hotels opening for DH as his parents are too far away for us to get there and back in a day.

BellsaRinging · 21/02/2021 11:23

Being selfish I want:-
Clarity about the gcse exam debacle for ds1. This is urgent and the effect the situation is having on all the students MH should not be underestimated.
School would be good for ds2 but in yr 5 it's not so much of a priority.
To know when I can meet up with friends not for an interminable walk without children.
When the vaccine will roll out to those in their 40s.
If I will be able to go on either of the foreign holidays I rolled over from last year to this (rather optimistically as it turns out).
When sports can start up again (for me and the kids).
I am wfh until at least the summer, so the above are my priorities.

frozendaisy · 21/02/2021 11:24

Schools
Kid's sports
Swimming pools

PPNC · 21/02/2021 11:24

To see if schools open, if not I’ll be calling and taking up the keyworker place that I haven’t so far.

To get me back shooting and the kids back into riding lessons.

Meeting friends.

Pubs opening, it’s the heart of this village and if it doesn’t open soon we will lose it and the community connection will be gone.

starfishmummy · 21/02/2021 11:28

Given that we have a CEV adult DS living with us and he has been told to shield until 31 March, nothing is going to change for us anyway. I'll watch if I remember

1990shopefulftm · 21/02/2021 11:32

I want my son to meet my friends and my in laws and just see part of the world, his 3 months and only met very few family members at Christmas

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 21/02/2021 11:33

@ThursdayLastWeek I entirely relate

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 21/02/2021 11:33

The vaccines should role out to all of us in our forties from 16th April when group 9 is done. They will have started in earnest on 2nd vaccines by then so it may be a bit slower unless they find a way to increase capacity significantly.

Re GCSE info - I wasn’t really expecting that to be covered tomorrow. Great if it could be but I think that will come separately from the exam boards and/or department for education at some point in the hopefully not to distant future.

Globe22 · 21/02/2021 11:34

This is what I want to know...
When will outdoor sport restart (not just bloody golf)?
Hoping for no silly arbitrary rule of 6 - 2 households would better and/or for single people to mix in groups of 3/4.
Schools back either fully or on a rota - my child needs to meet other people outside the house (sorry zoom is not enough!)
When will non essential shops open?
Museums?

Coasterfan · 21/02/2021 11:36

Schools, theme parks and U.K. holidays are our main concerns. Also if schools go back it means my classroom delivery programmes for adults may also be allowed to restart. These cannot be delivered on line and I have lost over half my income so it would be nice to at least have a date to plan for even if it’s after Easter.

Lemons1571 · 21/02/2021 11:37

I want to know if we can go to a self catering holiday let over Easter.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 21/02/2021 11:38

It would be nice to have the rule of six back outdoors.

I’d rather schools and travel remain as they are until more are vaccinated and cases lower. I don’t want mine going back to the same situation and having to lockdown again.

TawnyPippit · 21/02/2021 11:38

There is v little noise around universities. I have a DC in their first year who is making the best of a fairly rubbish situation, having already made the best of Gav Grades and CAGs last summer. Hmm. I would love for them to have the summer term with a little bit more release towards normality, even if not full on face to face teaching.

I also have a DC in L6th, and I think they will be one of the priority years if the return is staggered, so I have told her to assume she will be going back on March 8th 🤞.

duckme · 21/02/2021 11:38

@ThursdayLastWeek

I need my kids to not be in my house all the time.
Grin This! I love them with all of my being, but I need to not have them with me at all times! I need the guilt about them being cooped up and not being active enough to go too!
icelollycraving · 21/02/2021 11:39

Non essential retail where I work, schools, sport restarting for Ds. Hospitality for dsis,

user0987654 · 21/02/2021 11:42

Weddings for us, we are only wanting a small ceremony with us and immediate family, but have had terrible luck in that each planned date has been cancelled due to lockdown (May 20, Nov 20 and Feb 21) we rescheduled our last one to the end of March so we are waiting to see if that can go ahead....

Frazzled2207 · 21/02/2021 11:42

desperate for my sons (5 and 7) to be able to return to school. Anything else a bonus but that's by far the most important thing for me.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 21/02/2021 11:42

Timings:

3pm in parliament
7pm press conference

Scarby9 · 21/02/2021 11:43

Travel beyond the local area.

Self catering for Easter? Even one household would do for that at a pinch.

Rule of 6 reinstated (selfishly, rule of 4 would do).

Garden meet-ups rathr than having to discuss my friend's cancer on the public highway.

Outdoor coffee service. Not takeaway and move away.

DrunkenKoala · 21/02/2021 11:43

Schools
Kids outdoor sports
Swimming pools
Seeing family and being able to travel and stay overnight with them (in uk)
