Mam of a 9 year old so obviously invested in schools return plans

GCSE teacher in a college so very invested in the exams farce

Our lateral flow testing plan is already a farce so hoping for more than 'test them if you can'

Meant to be getting married in July (postponed from last summer) so wondering about that too - although already accepted that we'll not be having the wedding piss up we planned

Are you watching for general reasons or specifics?

Not watching, half the folk will say it's not enough, the other half will say too much too soon, just carrying on and not interested

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 21/02/2021 14:16

Want to know when we’re allowed to travel from Kent to Devon to see my parents, or vice versa. And want to go away In my camper van for a week or so. And to have friends round for a coffee/glass of bubbles, even if it’s just in the garden.

dingoesatemybaby · 21/02/2021 14:17

Schools and seeing family first and foremost then; Gyms, soft play, hairdressers, shops and foreign travel.

AveEldon · 21/02/2021 14:19

I will watch at 3pm - mainly about schools - will we be back before Easter?
I have reached the point where I've had enough of shielding/the rules etc

Holothane · 21/02/2021 14:19

Won’t watch I simply can’t be bothered now our home is our sanctuary I’m concentrating on that as no holidays or outings this year. Would love to see in-laws again but can I hug them they’re vaccinated now.

8bitgame · 21/02/2021 14:27

I'll be watching

My selfish reasons are I don't want to get COVID so I am hoping that the easing is very cautious and any return to schools is gradual and phased.

I have a 9 yo DS so whilst I want him to be back I do not believe a mass return is safe.

I also work in an FE College so want to know if I will continue WFH or if I will have to put myself at risk again by going in.

Freud2 · 21/02/2021 14:46

I can’t wait for non essential shops and restaurants to be opened. Also loos - fed up with having to rush home as they’re all shut.

MrsWhites · 21/02/2021 14:47

Is the schools return date still up in the air? The daily mail (I know they aren’t the best but are a Tory paper) seem to suggest it’s a done deal, all kids back on 8th March?

Outside of schools I really want to know when hairdressers will be allowed to reopen and outdoor attractions like zoo’s can reopen, would be so lovely to get out for a nice day out!

WarriorN · 21/02/2021 14:49

I'm trying not to get too sucked into debates for mh reasons; just here to say I love your name @Workyticket.

It's used a lot round here!

Workyticket · 21/02/2021 14:57

@JoggingNovice

My purely selfish things are:

I'm hoping 6th formers (yr12/13) doing practical/vocational subjects will be able to go back to college.
Dd's course is supposed to train her up enough to go directly into a job in her chosen field. It should be mainly practical using equipment at the college.
Obviously she's been unable to do any of the most important aspects of the course during the lockdowns.

Also driving lessons / theory tests please.

And being able to travel slightly further for exercise.

My dp teaches a practical subject (joinery) in a college - he's back in tomorrow teaching face to face!

Disclaimer: its not selfish to want anything from your old life back, be it theatres, pubs, restaurants, seeing friends. Its human nature.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/02/2021 14:59

I’m with you @Workyticket - via weddings

Meant to be getting married in early may

This we changed last March after being postponed /cancelled

We didn’t expect booking a date nearly 15mths later still be in the crap we are :(

Fab vaccines rolling out. Yes can still get COVID but likely to be mild and not die /tie up nhs

But I can see this virus being around for years

We can’t lockdown every year, three times a year

Both df and I are self employed. This year has financially killed us :(

Tho know obv lucky to b3 alive anD not lost anyone close to COVID

Sad to say it’s mainly the old /I’ll/vulnerable who if get COVID then need nhs or die

Do we say these have to stay inside while the rest of the country /world carries on

The amount of money is staggering paid via furlough etc

I chose it as my Mam called me it over the phone after I was telling her I'd kicked up a fuss at work as usual over the shite approach to lateral flow testing

I will be watching and then will read the details carefully. I want to know when I can visit my mum, and secondly when non-essential shops and other things may re-open (which may influence when I visit).

Scottishskifun · 21/02/2021 15:12

To work out when we can travel south to see DH very elderly (fully vaccinated) grandparents and both sets of parents. It will probably still be "illegal" under Scotlands road map but we will be armed with one of the exemption reasons as at 93/94 we don't have the luxury of time to just sit and wait til they decide to change the legislation in Scotland!

Andbearsohmy · 21/02/2021 15:14

Praying for news about weddings. I've had two cancelled due to covid 😭

G1nF1zz · 21/02/2021 15:23

I live in Wales so the announcement won’t really affect me. We have to wait for Drakefords announcement.
May be worth remembering if the Uk holidays are in Wales the rules may be different. (probably the same for Scotland) Hmm

LaylaRawlings · 21/02/2021 15:43

@ThursdayLastWeek

I need my kids to not be in my house all the time.
At last! Honesty!
Wotrewelookinat · 21/02/2021 15:44

My selfish reasons are:
Climbing centres reopening for my daughters
Meeting up with my elderly parents
Desperate to see my sister
Outdoor swimming group meet ups.
I’m assuming none of those things will be happening anytime soon.

mootymoo · 21/02/2021 15:46

As long as I can my 19 year old dd has don't care. I think it's cruel that young adults have been completely ignored and are suffering severe mental health issues consequently

Jtblmb · 21/02/2021 17:38

Things I'd like to see changed in the next month :Rule of six reintroduced. Allow to meet in a private garden not just public space. And for children to return to school. The social impact on my children has been huge.

Going forward, by Easter I would like travel restrictions to be lifted to allow free movement around the whole of the UK. We have a static caravan in wales (we live in England) that we can't use currently.

I would like to see attractions opened back up particularly ones such as theme parks and zoos which are outdoors.

LouJ85 · 21/02/2021 18:45

My reasons are I'm having a baby in 8 weeks and I want my family to be able to meet her. Confused

Welikebeingcosy · 21/02/2021 19:01

I want the USA embassy to be able to open so I can get a visa to take my daughter to see her father there. Would also like some other support to open for new mums such as group support or in person counselling or even church to be able to have a service. Not holding my breath though for a while. The embassy opening would be a relief.

MorrisZapp · 21/02/2021 19:09

I'm in Scotland but surely tomorrow's road map will set the tone of what we can expect too. NS hasn't diverged significantly from UK policy.

Dustyboots · 21/02/2021 19:11

I want them to call off lockdown completely.

I realise this won’t happen. I don’t think it’s the ‘answer’ either. But I don’t think lockdown is a solution to sorting out Covid. It’s a waste of time life and money.
