The vaccine rollout in Europe is turning into a complete disaster.

@FatCatThinCat

Sweden have now completely suspended use of the AstraZeneca vaccine pending the outcome of an investigation into the side effects being conducted by the EMA.
It always was going to be a domino effect. Just like not allowing it for over 65's was initially.

This time though there are a couple who have stuck their heads above the parafit and that is telling.... ..

@Gerla

Its quite bizzare what the EU are up to. It's bizarre to blame the EU- are you not following this at all?
I am very much following it

And all the big hitters in the EU are causing a mess

I spoke to my parents in Belgium yesterday. Belgium is continuing with the vaccines and has announced that they are safe. They have also set up a system where people can register for any spare vaccine in advance of their turn so that nothing goes to waste.

I don't always love the guardian but its covid coverage of other countries has been informative.
Not sure whats going on with Germany as watched Dr cambells update couple days ago on you tube and he said 1/3 of modern stock Germany currently has been administered.
So why not substitute az for moderna or phizer?
The other week channel 4 news covered vaccines and there only 1 vaccination site that was offering az in Berlin a airport that was very quiet from the outside and the film crews were not allowed in.
Mayhe its logistic thing.
In France its 2 step process a check up appointment then a vaccine appointment is from my understanding what I have read.
Its great Belgium just getting on with it.
Italy really puzzles me and they seem so keen to work with Russia.
No news on if Australia can have their 250k az doses.
Theres danger more export bans on moderna or phizzer if they stop using az.

@3asAbird

In France its 2 step process a check up appointment then a vaccine appointment is from my understanding what I have read.

That time consuming process was going on in the EHPADs (retirement/nursing homes/care homes) when the vaccination first started but I'm 99.9% certain it's now been dropped as a universal requirement.

I'm expecting the call/e-mail telling me that I'm eligible in the next month or two or...and AFAIK you make an appointment (that's a story in itself from what I've heard) and then rock up as arranged for a quick chat with someone re- medical history and then straight away jab number one...
