Annoyed by order of vaccine rollout

My mum has missed out on being included in the over 65 group by a few months. People ahead of her include those with self inflicted conditions (such as my morbidly obese cousin) and carers. Anyone else annoyed by the order of the groupings ?

OP posts:

So people who are at higher risk of dying are ahead of her... what bastards they are! Seriously, have a word with yourself.

longtimemarried · 18/02/2021 17:43

My neighbour got upset because i have had my first vaccination, I am in my 70s he is early 50s with no health problems. Sometimes Dreamy you just cant win. Your mum has not missed out she is simply waiting her turn,

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 18/02/2021 17:44

OP won't be coming back. I ate her.

I'm fat. I'm looking after my severely disabled father. I haven't had a break since February 15th 2020.

Fuck you OP.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 18/02/2021 20:16

No, OP, I am not annoyed by the prioritising but that is because I understand the strategy.

Which, tbf, isn’t that hard to understand.

What does annoy me is carping and whinging like your OP.

Amidst the biggest operation the NHS has ever had to undertake.

And is doing it in a way that I understand that the vaccination of your fat cousin is of overall benefit to me.

Whatever9999 · 18/02/2021 20:16

@Ellietheant

Yup I’m right there with you OP. Carers I’m fine with when it’s warranted but my auntie has just managed to get a jab because she lied and said she ‘cared’ for an elderly woman across the road. She’s been bragging about how she’s swindled the system. And yeh I also agree with the fat thing, my cousin is enormous because she can’t stop bloody eating, her Facebook posts are only ever of fry ups, cakes and cheese boards, she’s 32 and just got a vaccine while my husband has a heart condition along with a variety of other conditions which his consultants have said put him at higher risk yet we are fighting to get him a vaccine. So that’s 2 people have have either swindled the system by stuffing their face into obesity or played the system so yes, we have every right to be fucked off. And stop with the whinging about people being fat, they even use fat children in films and commercials now like it’s okay, it’s not okay unless you have an underlying condition which means you don’t have a choice then just stop fucking eating.
I call bullsh*t as far as someone blagging being a carer. I send proof if carers allowance to my gp to get put in group 6. They simply aren't just taking anyone's word for it. As for your comments about overweight people, well they are just vile

I’m a morbidly obese carer, what does that make me?

Ultimately the scientists have decided I am at more risk than your mum so tough.

RedcurrantPuff · 18/02/2021 23:32

@thecatisaliveandwell

OP, I ABSOLUTELY get where you are coming from and I can see why you are so very angry.

I have it on Very Good Authority that those fat bastards need extra large syringes when they get vaxxed and 5 doses per syringe.

This is because the vaccine has to work so very hard to get through their flabby fat bodies.

Jeez

And we also breathe out Extra Covid and have been responsible for the whole pandemic
HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 18/02/2021 23:43

@GCAcademic

Yes, those bloody carers. Damn them to hell. I bet some of them are fat as well.

Biscuit

Yep I am!
Morph2lcfc · 19/02/2021 03:06

My Gp didn’t ask for any proof of being a carer, I just emailed and asked for it to be added to my record and I was invited for vaccine the next week. However I am carer for my own child so I suppose they could have just double checked his medical record at the same practise without having to ask me for further details

LemonSwan · 19/02/2021 03:25

Its an interesting topic. Was recently bought up in america as smokers were added to the 'at risk' list with priority access to the vaccine. Some would argue that obesity and smoking arent 'self-inflicted' but addictions - they probably are both (I say that as a smoker) .

It is also reminding me about something I learnt about a few years back. If a 'sane' person tries to commit suicide and requires a transplant they are not barred from the transplant list; but if a schizophrenic person tries to commit suicide as part of an episode they are automatically barred from the transplant list. Some would argue no one 'sane' tries to commit suicide; I probably agree but equally would argue that a schizophrenic person is equally if not less accountable for 'self-inflication' than someone 'sane'.

Totally off piste but I find it a fascinating topic.

MummyPop00 · 19/02/2021 07:46

Only issue I have with the order is those having had confirmed Covid (like me) should have been further down the list.

Morph2lcfc · 19/02/2021 10:43

The trouble is if they had to individually go through everyone in the country and decide where they are on the list they wouldn’t be vaccinating at the rate they currently are. I was invited for vaccination as a carer. I was in two minds whether to go as I dont feel in my particular situation I am in much as need as perhaps some other carers are. I have a disabled child but he could for example get himself a drink or something to eat out of the cupboard so he wouldn’t starve whereas there are other disabled people that need feeding and changing. His needs are however much higher then the average 10 year old. After asking on another thread I was told almost overwhelmingly that I should go for the vaccine

MrBullinaChinaShop · 19/02/2021 10:44

The best thing everyone can do for the vaccination effort is to go when they’re called and stop bloody whinging about the order.
