Annoyed by order of vaccine rollout

My mum has missed out on being included in the over 65 group by a few months. People ahead of her include those with self inflicted conditions (such as my morbidly obese cousin) and carers. Anyone else annoyed by the order of the groupings ?

@MsMiaWallace

People goading about being fat is interesting especially the obese health professionals.
The only person goading is the OP, who should be ashamed of herself.
chaosrabbitland · 17/02/2021 10:16

@Armi

I’m going to have another cake now, to celebrate my morally reprehensible fatness. Cheers, all!
lol , and iv just had my 5th fag of the morning !
Mumof3andlovingit · 17/02/2021 10:16

Sorry haven’t read the FT, but have they started vaccinations for carers? My DH is a carer for his autistic brother. He is coded now as unpaid carer at the GP Surgery, but we haven’t heard anything yet.
Btw OP my mum still hasn’t had her vaccine as she’s 64 with no underlying health conditions. I do believe she will be called soon. Soon all adults will be offered the vaccine eventually.

FuckingFabulous · 17/02/2021 10:18

People ahead of your 64 year old mum are carers. Shock horror. What will happen to your mum's dependents if she is in hospital with Covid? Oh, wait. She's 64. She's unlikely to have any dependents living at home with her....... I see. Well......Is your mum going to step in and provide personal care to someones profoundly disabled child if the parent ends up in hospital with Covid? Is that why she needs a vaccine before carers do?

Spikeyball · 17/02/2021 10:19

"Would mumsnet be mumsnet these days without an ambush"

Would it be mumsnet be mumsnet without someone having a go at carers.

FuckingFabulous · 17/02/2021 10:21

@RigaBalsam

Self inflicted carers. My sister would give anything for my nephew to not be autistic.
Exactly. I've not been called for my first dose yet, but when I am, I'll take it in a flash, no matter how self inflicted my caring duty might be. Damn me for having children without a thought for what obscure conditions one would one day develop! And I'll be taking it without a second thought about all the people in the queue behind me, because they'll get their turn!!
frumpety · 17/02/2021 10:23

However I'm suprised at the number of people who almost seem to be boasting of their obesity on this thread.

Not boasting, just being honest. I got the vaccine at the same time as all my healthy weight colleagues because we do exactly the same job. The last time a GP weighed me was over 5 years ago, I weighed a lot less then, so my medical record wouldn't trigger me getting the vaccine. Personally I would have prefered DH to get the vaccine first, he fits the profile of a lot of ICU patients, but hopefully he will be getting his in the next few weeks.

Give your head a wobble and realise how pathetic and childish you sound. Biscuit

DumplingsAndStew · 17/02/2021 10:27

Wow, were you this much of a dick pre-covid too?

SpringtimeBluebells · 17/02/2021 10:28

No @DreamyDreamer333

The order of the vaccine roll out makes sense to most of us.

SpringtimeBluebells · 17/02/2021 10:32

@BlueTimes

What a wonderful comfort to you to know your mum isn’t in a high risk category.
Indeed, imagine how vile someone must be to be jealous of people with serious health conditions or jealous of people who spend their entire life being a carer....

Wow @DreamyDreamer333 ..... I pity you

Maybemay123 · 17/02/2021 10:56

If those carers who save the NHS and social services millions don't get vaccinated then ecv will be at increased risk and if the carer gets ill who's going to care for the patient and who's going to pay for it?
It's also a postcode lottery my relatives who are 61are getting vaccinated next week my ecv dc is still not vaccinated because of where we live. Your dm will no doubt get vaccinated in the not to distant future.

Livpool · 17/02/2021 11:04

But she isn't 65 so can't go in that group.

I have severe asthma and haven't had the vaccine yet but I don't think I should be included before people whose need is greater. Whatever the reason for that

They have in some areas. I'm north essex and getting mine tomorrow.

You're seriously annoyed that carers who are looking after potentially very vulnerable people are ahead of someone with a lower risk factor?

Not all cases of being overweight and obese are self inflicted either. Many are due to other health conditions.

Many people aged 65 and over are healthier than the CV group, plus are often less likely to need to go out to work and mix as much with large numbers of people.

However, the research done in the last year shows that regardless of this they are still more likely to suffer serious complications or die if they catch covid. Hence they are higher priority than under 65s even if those under 65s have a number of health conditions.

The priority list isn't done on who you think deserves it most.
It's done based in who might become most ill and need hospital treatment, and is designed to help reduce the impact on the nhs and our hospitals.

Group 6 is a large group and for some reason can only access the vaccines via their GP. They cannot access them via the national web link like groups 1-5 can.

This means there will be a massive difference in vaccine times for this large group.

I asked at a nurse appointment yesterday. My surgery is in an area with a large older demographic. They were still on groups 1-4 and only just starting to send out letters to group 5 this week. It will be a few weeks until they reach group 6 apparently. I'd been hoping to have mine (I'm CV) before I went back to school in March 8.

My younger colleague in another part of the same city had her vaccine early this week. Other people I know in group 6 have also already had theirs in the past couple of weeks.

They need to find a way to add group 6 to the national web link especially as these often allow you to book at the vaccine hubs, and quite often the people in group 6 are far more able to travel further and with shorter notice than the older patients.

WonderLandWoman · 17/02/2021 11:25

Carers should absolutely go ahead of someone aged 64

Aposterhasnoname · 17/02/2021 11:27

Wow, imagine being this much of a twat

DollyParton2 · 17/02/2021 11:42

I think the OP is just being honest. Honest that to her family, her mum are most important. To her it seems unfair that obese people who 99% have inflicted this on themselves are being put infront of her mother. Why the big outcry?
Also for all those saying “it’s only a few days/ weeks difference” a close family friend was in a carehome caught Covid and died recently. He was under a week away from getting his vaccine. It CAN make all the difference.
Just wish people would refrain from shooting down people who dare be honest about their feelings here.

CavernousScream · 17/02/2021 12:04

@DollyParton2 ‘feelings’ aren’t really what matters. Your, and OP’s ‘feeling’ that fat people don’t deserve protection against dying, for example, is certainly your ‘feeling’ which you’re entitled to express. And the rest of us are equally free to assess that that makes you a pretty terrible person. Just being honest about our ‘feelings’ hun.

SimonJT · 17/02/2021 12:05

It’s your mums fault for not being born prematurely.

The above does use your logic.

JaneNorman · 17/02/2021 12:08

Also for all those saying “it’s only a few days/ weeks difference” a close family friend was in a carehome caught Covid and died recently. He was under a week away from getting his vaccine. It CAN make all the difference.

This is exactly why is needs to be done in priority order based on risk.

Sleepyblueocean · 17/02/2021 12:16

"I think the OP is just being honest."

As are those that are responding.

pinkearedcow · 17/02/2021 12:40

OP if you insist on being a goady fucker, at least come back to the thread.

thecatisaliveandwell · 17/02/2021 13:17

OP, I ABSOLUTELY get where you are coming from and I can see why you are so very angry.

I have it on Very Good Authority that those fat bastards need extra large syringes when they get vaxxed and 5 doses per syringe.

This is because the vaccine has to work so very hard to get through their flabby fat bodies.

Jeez
