Annoyed by order of vaccine rollout

DreamyDreamer333 · 16/02/2021 19:58

My mum has missed out on being included in the over 65 group by a few months. People ahead of her include those with self inflicted conditions (such as my morbidly obese cousin) and carers. Anyone else annoyed by the order of the groupings ?

Yes, those bloody carers. Damn them to hell. I bet some of them are fat as well.

OpheliasCrayon · 17/02/2021 08:10

These threads are just ridiculous. . This level of envy and jealousy is not becoming

SinkGirl · 17/02/2021 08:12

@bababra

damn those carers for looking after vulnerable people for a pittance. Ffs Biscuit
Don’t worry, many of us carers don’t even get that pittance and our GPs won’t give us the vaccine either!
SilverGlitterBaubles · 17/02/2021 08:16

The nit picking and spite about vaccines is truly shameful. Do people realise that most other countries have barely started their vaccines, have limited supplies and some countries will have none for a long time to come? What is happening is truly amazing and everyone will get a vaccine for free, close to home in the next few weeks or months for the youngest. I get it that we are all desperate to get out of this but really this needs to stop.

Crazycatlady83 · 17/02/2021 08:17

But OP if you mum hadn’t of missed out on group 6 by a couple of months, I assume you wouldn’t have given a shit about the order?

Crazycatlady83 · 17/02/2021 08:18

@bababra where do I go to pick up my pittance? I don’t even get that Grin

Okokokbear · 17/02/2021 08:19

You sound fucking awful

Okokokbear · 17/02/2021 08:20

Imagine being this vile

No

TankGirl97 · 17/02/2021 08:54

@avenueq

I'm a fat carer Grin
😂😂😂

I'd be happy to get bumped even further down the queue for keyworkers to be given the vaccine first too. The rollout is going amazingly well and we will all get it soon enough.

MordredsOrrery · 17/02/2021 09:01

I'm annoyed that lots of horrible people with vile opinions are likely to be ahead of me in the queue. But it's based on medical criteria not moral ones so I guess I'll have to put up with it Smile

frumpety · 17/02/2021 09:04

I am a morbidly obese nurse, do I win ? Grin

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 17/02/2021 09:12

Coming back op?

MsMiaWallace · 17/02/2021 09:19

People goading about being fat is interesting especially the obese health professionals.

AnniversaryScaresMe · 17/02/2021 09:26

If the vaccine priority is on risk of death, being released from lockdown should be based risk of harm from lockdown.

I can accept obesity is mental health related in many instances, but as someone suffering hugely from lockdown, with pre existing MH issues, who happens to be good at keeping fit/slim, it's really frustrating that obese people's mental health is so defended whilst those of us harmed by lockdown are ignored.

Also horrendous that "pre existing conditions" related to death stats cover a lot of conditions that dont get you an early vaccine - why? On this thread we have carers for autistic people getting early jabs but not autistic people themselves.

Colourcones · 17/02/2021 09:42

Of course carers should have the vaccine early. However I'm suprised at the number of people who almost seem to be boasting of their obesity on this thread. We've all had a year to do something about our weight. A difficult year I agree but alot of us have tried very hard to sort out weight problems. Sitting back and taking the vaccine without having made any effort at all to sort out your obesity is not ok .

SinkGirl · 17/02/2021 09:44

Everyone with learning disabilities of any severity should be in group 6, due to the significantly higher death rate in this group (according to an article last week, 30x higher in 18-35s IIRC - might have been 18-39).

My children obviously wouldn’t get the jab regardless but if DH and I get COVID and get very sick our kids would be in serious trouble. There’s no one who knows how to look after them. When our boys had to isolate recently after another close contact at school, I asked our disability social worker what would happen if we both got very sick and they had no answer for me at all. Just “lets hope that doesn’t happen”.

I’ll never forget when all four of us got norovirus at the same time but they were only just 2 then and easier to contain.

I know there are lone parents who like us literally have no one to call on to help with their child(ren). It’s a massively stressful situation and I think there should be prioritisation of those in this position after the clinically vulnerable, but no idea how this would work. I’m having a hard enough time getting our practice to accept we are carers to our children when both of our children are registered at the same practice and it would take 5 seconds to confirm what I’m saying.

BruceAndNosh · 17/02/2021 09:48

I'm the same age as OP mum, and current projection mean I should get my vaccine before the end of March. It's a few more weeks only.
My DH isn't 65 until next month but he's been invited already.

And I'm sure most morbidly obese people and carers would prefer not to be in either category

flobberdobberrr · 17/02/2021 09:53

Jesus Christ
I've been on mumsnet 9 years and it gets worse every time I come on.

I can imagine the OP has come on to vent because she's fed up and this is the thing that's tipped her balance this week. Enough to have a little rant about it somewhere anonymous. - Fine

Yet there are so many people so wound up and triggered by one AIBU comment, they feel they can be nasty, cruel and sarcastic to someone just here to vent feeling worried.

I know who the people actually being unreasonable here are and it's not the OP. Maybe you all need to sit in my kids internet awareness zooms - if you have nothing nice to say.. scroll on past. Or a simple YABU would suffice.

What a fucking pile on.

flobberdobberrr · 17/02/2021 09:54

Would mumsnet be mumsnet these days without an ambush

LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone · 17/02/2021 09:57

I'm glad your Mum is healthy at her age.

My DH is 60, has one lung, and has a liver and pancreas that's full of cancer. But he's not on the vulnerable list just because he's not having "active treatment", but only because there is no treatment for his type of disease. But his fault I suppose!
He's waiting his turn like everyone else. He'll get jabbed eventually.

Now calm down.

AnxiousAlpaca · 17/02/2021 10:10

Yeah those selfish unsound carers how day they choose to do so BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit
