Welcome to the new thread! I will copy over links from the previous thread soon.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Checking in. I lost track of the old thread completely, it moved so fast!

(I am an oldie on these threads but NC'd since I discovered a close relative on here...)

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/02/2021 14:46

I’ve remembered I’ve got a box of strawberry Lindt balls in the cupboard. As recommended by my waitrose delivery man. Haven’t had any yet.

I can add those to the mix.

Disclaimer: I don’t normally have Lindt balls, so I don’t know why I’m so abundant with them this week.

Checking in! Parents (68 and 65) booked in for jab on Wednesday! 🥳

Flev · 15/02/2021 14:56

Finding my place on the picnic blanket. I have unexpectedly got a jab booked on Wednesday, as my role in social care has just been deemed eligible. Slightly unfortunate timing as my husband (who has been my absolute rock throughout all of this) has been feeling low and starting to doubt we'd ever get a vaccine (he's a healthy 40 year old) - and now we're not "in it together" in the same way. I'm really grateful for this thread, the positivity has helped keep me going, and right now I'm sharing as much as I can to help keep his spirits up.

Fantastic news Fuzzy Grin

Cloudsurfing · 15/02/2021 15:04

My area is now under 100 cases per 100,000 Grin. We were in one of the original tier 4 areas with really high rates before Christmas.

Boredsillyathome · 15/02/2021 15:07

Marking my place! Smile

FourTeaFallOut · 15/02/2021 15:09

Congratulations on all the upcoming jabs. I was chuffed to bits to have mine, all that energy put in to making it, all those brave volunteers who they trialled it on, those manufacturing it, those distributing it, those jabbing it and all I had to do was roll up my sleeve. It was very humbling.

Blerg · 15/02/2021 15:11

Hi all, thanks for the new thread @InterfectoremVulpes

@FuzzyPuffling yay! So glad.

Everyone was really kind when I was fretting about my Mum (78). She has now had her vaccine.

I have contacted my Dr about my BMI. A bit of shame there, and I wasn’t going to but I kept waking up with it on my mind. I checked the advice I could find (not much), but Obesity UK advises telling the GP.

louisejxxx · 15/02/2021 15:13

@Treaclepie19 there seems to be lots of conflicting info re: asthma - I wouldn’t have thought mild would qualify, as the news seems to be reporting today saying you have to be hospitalised regularly with it for it to count.

TalskiddyTreacleMiner · 15/02/2021 15:13

Joining the happy thread! I work in tourism and things have been pretty desperate so I'm hunting out any snippets of good news I can. I do feel that we've turned a corner now. A friend who is an unpaid career for her jab last Saturday so it looks like they are rattling through in this area,

louisejxxx · 15/02/2021 15:14

Congrats on being booked in @FuzzyPuffling

It appears after my excitement the other day that people with brown inhalers who get a flu jab will be included in group 6, it now appears I’ve been bumped back down the list Sad trying to remind myself it’s because I’m less likely to die, but it’s not working yet.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/02/2021 15:15

Anyway before I go completely soft - is it this boozy picnic to blame?

Have a look at this:

www.poundsterlinglive.com/gbp-live-today/14995-pound-to-euro-and-dollar-new-best-exchange-rates/amp

The point is up against the dollar and the EUR. We are benefitting from the confident vaccine roll out apparently. So, that's good news.

Not that I am trading currencies in my spare time, just that this is a good litmus test for optimism.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/02/2021 15:15

Point, not point!

You've just prompted me to check my area - 52!! Grin

P o u n d,

Thanks autocorrect for making me look like a dick, again.

MarshaBradyo · 15/02/2021 15:22

Lovely new thread thank you

The change in weather is just what I need. 14 and sunny by the end of the week. Will let it be a general sign of positivity

MrsBennetsnerves · 15/02/2021 15:24

It's feeling springlike in my area. All the snow a has suddenly melted, and I can see crocuses are starting to flower. Also according to ZOE the cases in my area are now in the 1700s - that may seem high but were over 10,000 only weeks ago so it's a massive drop.

Had my first vaccine three weeks as two days ago so celebrated with a trip to a big supermarket on Saturday, and will be off to b and q on wed for my birthday. When vaccinations were announced I said I would love one by my birthday. Well that was well achieved. Thanks to awesome NHS. I loved the statement today that we would be planning an irreversible way out of lockdown.
