Welcome to the new thread! I will copy over links from the previous thread soon.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Lowest cases since 2nd October. Halloween weekend, several weeks later, we visited my brother for a couple of days and went to restaurants etc. with them. Feels like a long time until we’ll be doing things like that again

Eaumyword · 15/02/2021 16:17

♥️ Marzipan. What a beautiful little palo.
If possible, more pix please!

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2021 16:22

Not sure what the point of my post was as it’s not very good news-y!

DayBath · 15/02/2021 16:22

Israel's stats are great but I need you lot to give my head a wobble. They did the recommended gap between dose one and two didn't they? I have creeping doubts about our 12 week plan, it's been proven to work for Oxford but as far as I know the jury is still out for Pfizer.

I don't suppose it's been long enough to get immunity stats from the first cohort yet. Anyone know of any data from other countries for Pfizer in terms of longer gaps?

Inastatus · 15/02/2021 16:26

I’m back from fighting doom muppets on the frontline - Make room on the picnic blanket please. I need cake!

2020CanDoOne · 15/02/2021 16:26

Just plonking myself down on the picnic blanket next to all you lovely people. I’ve brought Irish coffee as a mid afternoon pick me up!

FourTeaFallOut · 15/02/2021 16:27

Lowest cases since 2nd October.

That's amazing, do you have your hands on a chart that says where we were at at the beginning of September TheChineseChicken?

It is in a way. It goes with the following interesting post from the data thread: ‘interesting tweet from RP131 - 86% of the population is now at rates at or below what was previously classified as “tier 2” twitter.com/rp131/status/1361014559058911232?s=21’

It shows how far we have come and is reassuring in terms of how low numbers will be by the time we open up.

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel - oh Champagne 😀 don’t mind if I do! Let’s toast @FuzzyPuffling’s great vaccine news 🥂

Shehz21 · 15/02/2021 16:38

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel

Hi all. Apols but we'll have to take these threads down if they're used to discuss other threads/users. It's not really in the spirit of the site and we'd appreciate it if you could keep things civil. As always, please do report any concerns - we're always fine to take a look.
Peace and love,
MNHQ

Frazzled2207 · 15/02/2021 16:41

the 7 day rate of case decline is speeding up too. 29% today, I think it was 28% yesterday and not long ago 22%.

Inastatus · 15/02/2021 16:42

Well that’s me told 😂

MichaelMumsnet · 15/02/2021 16:43

We're all for picnic blankets of hope and good company though : )

FourTeaFallOut · 15/02/2021 16:47

The thing about picnics is that you need to watch out for grass snakes, especially with all the day drinking.

Frazzled2207 · 15/02/2021 16:49

@Frazzled2207

Also if you look at the reported cases every day, they seem to be currently at about 50% of the rate of exactly a week ago. In a few weeks at this rate we will be looking at really low levels. Vaccine won't help transmission rates much don't think but hopefully will make a massive difference to hospitalisations and deaths .
tobee · 15/02/2021 16:49

Excellent to hear your jab news @FuzzyPuffling! And about George of course!

Oi! I tried to click on alreadytaken's link on the previous thread expecting to see a hunky athlete being jabbed and it just said "error forbidden"!

tobee · 15/02/2021 16:50

@FourTeaFallOut

Indeed.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/02/2021 16:51

Actually, at this risk of being contrary, I do think that the vaccinations may well have an effect on the case rates if only in terms of hospital transmission.

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2021 17:02

@FourTeaFallOut

Lowest cases since 2nd October.

No, I just stole that fact from the BBC site Blush
FourTeaFallOut · 15/02/2021 17:04

No worries, I was being lazy. I'll have a look for myself.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 15/02/2021 17:05

A snippet of good news from the BBC website: Covid-19: Vaccine as good in 'real world' as in trial in Israel "More data from Israel's vaccination programme is suggesting the Pfizer jab prevents 94% of symptomatic infections. This indicates the vaccine is performing just as well in a larger population as it did in the clinical trials."

Pomegranatespompom · 15/02/2021 17:15

What a shame this thread has reported when I’ve seen far worse on others. Fair idea where this stemmed from 🙁

Have a margarita @Inastatus

The briefing is quite cheerful. I do find Sir Simon quite cheering too 😳
