Welcome to the new thread! I will copy over links from the previous thread soon.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Great news @FuzzyPuffling I am so pleased for you!

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2021 13:37

@FuzzyPuffling

Thanks for the new thread InterfectoremVulpes.

Today I took DH for his blood tests at the GP. It was done (in the car) by a lovely HCA, who knows our medical history and is a general good egg. DH said I was anxious about vaccines and asked if she could check that I had been flagged as Group 6, so I could be in line after the over 65s are done here.

We got home...an hour later the phone rings..."I've booked you in for your vaccine (at the town with a Waitrose Dobby) next Saturday morning".

How bloody, bloody brilliant is that? She needs to run the whole NHS, she's so efficient, kind and understands chronic illness.

And it's 11 degrees ans sunny here today.

All in all I could cry with relief.

Hurrah!

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel

Thanks for the new thread Interfectorem. I am enjoying imagining a magic picnic blanket which expands to infinite size for those who like good news but if you doom monger your part disappears from under you leaving you sitting on mud.
Amazing

@FuzzyPuffling Very pleased for you. And I can now say that a relative (under 50) has been offered a jab. More than slightly confused by this as while there is a health issue wouldnt have thought it qualified them as clinically vulnerable. Anyway they are gratefully taking up the offer. They are in London, looks like the doctors there are being generous over who they invite.

Also OH has a friend being jabbed soon and under 60 wife has been invited too. Pleased for them as their work involves a lot of public contact, guess that may be why they are included.

@LivinLaVidaLoki

For the first time in months, I've felt bright and hopeful this weekend. Didn't Jonathan Van Tam say last year that non pharmaceutical intervention would be personal choice in the spring? Vaccination is going well, infections are falling, hospitalisations are falling and this is a seasonal virus. For the first time in MONTHS I don't feel "grey". Even the doom mongering berk from imperial college has said this will be the last lockdown. But out there.....why are they so determined that this will be our lives going forward. That we will be back in lockdown as soon as we are out of it like back in the winter? Despite us being in a completely different place now? Im staying here and sticking with good news only. ((plants arse firmly down on blanket))
He is a berk in some ways but on that podcast I REALLY enjoyed how he was so scathing about Cummings. Made me chuckle
LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/02/2021 13:41

In the spirit of sharing good news, my family in Greece are reporting now that a lot of the hotels that remained closed last year are having their contracts fulfilled/signed by tui and jet2 and have set about recruiting.
There was uproar with the way a lot were treated by tui last year but they are all making very positive noises at the moment.

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2021 13:42

@Treaclepie19 when you go in, let them know you are a bit nervous. I'm sure they expect this and it has happened to many other people so they will put your mind at rest

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/02/2021 13:42

Fuzzy so pleased for you!! I had a little tear reading your news. Roll on Saturday. I will be thinking of you.

The sun is shining and the daffodils are almost out. I feel 100x better than yesterday.

Iamclearlyamug · 15/02/2021 13:47

@FuzzyPuffling I’m sooo happy for you 😍😍

@InterfectoremVulpes thanks for the new thread - one of only two threads I allow myself to listen to on MN 😂😂

All aboard the magic picnic blanket - wine anyone? 😁😁

Treaclepie19 · 15/02/2021 13:49

Thank you @FuzzyPuffling, that made me tear up a little bit. I will be having it regardless of what my brain tells me this week. It does take some will power sometimes to push myself.

@TheChineseChicken thank you, I will do.
I'm speaking to the doctor tomorrow about something else as well so will talk it through with them if there is time. Might help me to just calm a little.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/02/2021 13:49

I’ve got a box of Lindt balls here....I’ll pass them round ....

Ooo my favourite. The mint ones are especially good
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 15/02/2021 13:51

Did anyone bring Marzipan?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/02/2021 13:54

TheChineseChicken sorry no mint ones. I have Hazelnut, milk, white and dark chocolate it’s a massive box of assorted.

I must get some mint ones. I didn’t know of these.

carolinesbaby · 15/02/2021 13:56

Loving the thread title, and the OP!

I'm WFH today with the back door open listening to the birds sing. Spring is definitely on its way.

Wonder what De Pfeffel will have to say later?

Autumn101 · 15/02/2021 13:56

Really needed this today!! Was feeling low and a bit teary but you’ve all helped

JemimaPyjamas · 15/02/2021 13:58

Checking in!

Shehz21 · 15/02/2021 14:02

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Can I come and join you? Most of this place has gone batshit crazy.

I'll bring cake?

I know what you mean.

Oooh I'd love a hazelnut one 😍

ACovidofWitches · 15/02/2021 14:06

Checking in. I love that meme on the first post. Just brilliant.

I do feel lighter today. The first 6 weeks of this year have been so so tough but we are officially over the worst. It's never going to be like this again (with this pandemic, I feel I should add in case doomsters hear a klaxon and come running) with this level of lockdowns/deaths/casesa nd general bleurgh. Whatever restrictions or difficult times are ahead, they will be far milder and shorter.

I'll force myself to scoff some
Jay2020 · 15/02/2021 14:22

Is it too early to open the champagne and strawberries at this picnic?

Arghhh wasps!!

Love this thread

Pomegranatespompom · 15/02/2021 14:25

Wine would be lovely, in the absence of mint Lindt I’ll have hazelnut please. I can offer giant chocolate buttons. Too early for a margarita? There’s a definite spring feel so maybe not ???

Pomegranatespompom · 15/02/2021 14:25

Don’t know how I missed the champagne and strawberries- perfect ❤️
