A continuation of the thread for those of us taking part in the Vaccine trial.

The novavax call that they're very excited for in the US is now on Thursday.

I find it odd if they need data from the crossover ? We were not examined by Dr's after our crossover injections. Unless the staff know which you've had and they know you were getting a placebo??
Didn't have to fill in the app either.

I want to know the booster deal. If those of us that were vaccinated last year. That's 8 months ago now. All talk has been yearly boosters. Now no answer

Can we have any booster? I had the vaccine in October.

We need answers to lots of questions don't we.

Cooroo · 05/05/2021 19:31

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I was pleased to find a Novavax frame on Facebook! Worth searching for if you want to add a vaccine frame.

Dreamer1989 · 05/05/2021 20:07

Mine hurt more too! I felt like the nurse pressed the plunger bit of syringe slower, felt horrible and cold. My arm is sore and the headache is starting! Got my A4 certificate, got quite emotional seeing it.

I thought the call was on the 10th. If I was an American on the trial I’d be pretty pissed off because they have been given no interim data at all. Of course they have read the uk interim data which is good but nothing has been released in the US so if it wasn’t for our trial releasing some data they’d have no idea if it was any good.

Think they just do stuff differently over there though. The share price is tumbling. It might be a good time to buy!

@BG2015
What I’ve read suggests that whatever booster shots are given won’t be dependent on what you had in the first place.
Trial have said that those who had the real thing last year will get a novavax booster this autumn.
Meanwhile media suggests that everyone over 50 could be offered a booster. So those of us over 50 might get a choice.

Someone on the Facebook group was saying that the Chorley trial has lost around 85% of participants due to unblinding. That’s not good. I think ours lost about half but no idea where I got that figure from.

OP posts:
andadietcoke · 05/05/2021 21:21

@Frazzled2207 I thought it was about half too. I think I asked Dr Cooper.

First crossover appt Dr Baxter said only 'old people like him' would get a booster and second appointment he said that he thought wave 1 active vaccinations would get a booster in October but he thought there would also be an opportunity for boosters for different variants.

ItsSnowJokes · 05/05/2021 21:26

Bournemouth lost 80% due to unblinding. Such a shame.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 05/05/2021 22:31

The message from Bradford is that those in the first round vaccine arm will get a booster of Novavax in October. Those in the second round vaccine arm won’t but will be eligible for NHS booster at the appropriate time and, assuming the mix trials work out, that booster could be any of the vaccines then in the market. Whether we’ll be able to choose at that point is unknown.
12 hrs post jab, arm is slightly sore but no other effects as yet.

Torvean · 05/05/2021 23:51

Why have so many ppl got unblinded? We lost a few when Pfizer hit the nhs as they were nhs staff. Since then I think we've been OK. Its seemed to be busier at my crossover than at last years vaccination appt.

Thanks for the news from Bradford. I was told at the start that if we had Novavax last year we would get a booster in October but ppl are getting appointments in November/December. Doesn't our contract date count for anything?

Cooroo · 06/05/2021 01:45

Wow. Arm is painful and I feel dizzy and weird. This is the first time I've had more than a tender arm. Now it's aching and I can't raise above my shoulder. Woke up and took paracetamol but temperature not raised.

We have a large elderly population in Bournemouth and they got on with nhs vaccinating really quickly. I am mid 40s and I was called about 7-8 weeks ago for nhs vaccine. I think the older population just couldn't take the chance with novavax and got unblinded. Sad but understandable, especially as that was the horrific wave with hundreds of deaths a day.
Frazzled2207 · 06/05/2021 10:03

agree @ItsSnowJokes
not as elderly a population as in Bournemouth but in my early appointments the vast majority of participants were a lot older than me (42). I think older people would have been keener to get involved back when there was nothing available for obvious reasons and also are more likely to have time available - there's been a lot of discussion about the relative inflexibility of appointment times!
Our doctor was quite clear that we should unblind if we became eligible for the vaccine - for many people this would have been jan/feb.

Ok, that makes sense. I've never even heard of Chorley before.

We seem to be mainly 30s-50s in my study. Only ever saw 1 older person at an appt time. Seems to be more males than females at crossover. We don't have a large elderly population.

Frazzled2207 · 06/05/2021 10:39

@Torvean
We have always been seen in largeish groups so easier to get a feel for who’s involved.

24 hrs post final jab, no side effects. My DDiL is a stockbroker so I’ve asked her to get me some Novavax shares!

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 06/05/2021 11:49

Buy now. Price is low! (Disclaimer: Not in any way a financial adviser, nor do I understand any of the lingo on the investor fb group!)

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 06/05/2021 11:52

Market opens at 2:30 so we’re making the purchase then. Closed at $171 last night. Exciting!

Frazzled2207 · 06/05/2021 11:53

Before I excitedly try and buy some what’s the reason do we think for the recent drop off a cliff

OP posts:
PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 06/05/2021 11:55

Yep. It was up at $2.57 a few days ago. I'm refreshing constantly and waiting for approval announcement.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 06/05/2021 11:57

Ugh, I don't know. That's all the shit I don't understand. People talking and saying things!
Last week's soar was because Biden uttered the word "Novavax" at the end of a press conference. Maybe it's just correction after that peak.

SORRY $257 not $2.57 😂

Because it was likely overpriced when everyone thought approval was imminent. Management team took a big load of value out too so there was a correction but it will bounce back on approval here and in US. I figure that as I’ve got it in my actual body I might as well go all in Grin. DDiL is getting some too!

This might help. Mentions volatility and suggests it’s a stock for aggressive investors- which I am.
