A continuation of the thread for those of us taking part in the Vaccine trial.
Never had a thread continue to part 2 before so quite excited.

Wishing those who have had side effects for a speedy recovery!

Torvean · 29/04/2021 17:51

Thank you for the kind comments.

Yesterday I just felt so drained after dinner I sat on the couch to watch something about 9ish. Woke up at 01:30 soaked , temp was 38.2. Took more paracetamol. Had a shower put PJs on went to bed, woke up today absolutely fine .
All very weird.

On a different note i put up a picture of the vaccine sheet with a note saying I'd finished the study. Nothing boastful and barely anyone bothered to even make a comment. I didn't do the study to look good. However I thought ppl might have said well done. Quite sad, but it upset me and normally I don't care if ppl like what I post.

At least I know I've done something positive to help fight Covid. Not a single friend or family member has (only a few genuinely couldn't ).

Oh that's sad that people haven't congratulated you. I've had a lot of positive comments.

We all know how fab you are though 🥰

Torvean · 29/04/2021 18:53

Thanks @BG2015.

I will be very proud when Novavax is released . Hopefully sent to India and as boosters. Then I'll def know I've helped ppl. That's why I signed up.

Short term I think I'll just break from using my own FB page. I'll stay involved in groups.

CardinalCat · 29/04/2021 19:15

I've also now have vax#4 and after three complete non-events, I definitely feel some effects from this one. Sore achey arm with a swollen welt at entry point, and I felt shivery and knackered within 12 hours of the jab. So interesting how many people had nothing with 1 of 2, but side effects with the second.
My centre had no info on certificates/ passports and nothing on whether we might get boosters. It was all very underwhelming and a bit concerning tbh- they couldn't even tell me if I was supposed to inform my GP or if they would!

Frazzled2207 · 29/04/2021 19:20

@Torvean
That sounds rough but pleased you are ok now.
I know how you feel. A lot of people in RL are impressed that I put myself forward as a guinea pig but my dh is annoyingly “meh” about it all, both this and the fact that I am occasionally volunteering at the actual rollout. He’s even a bit “meh” about his own appointment next week.

I think back in the autumn people I spoke to were quite impressed with my efforts but so many people have been vaccinated now, it’s slightly old news. But frankly we are only in the position we are now because thousands of us put ourselves forward. We did good.

Big round of applause for all the participants on here!

I can understand your disappointment. I would be to. I was thinking of doing the same thing when I get my card, but I'm having second thoughts now!

I think Frazzled is right - it's old news now! There should be a flurry of excitement when it gets EUA, especially as AZ is under a bit of a cloud. I can't wait for the Novavax roll out, straight out of Teesside!

ItsSnowJokes · 30/04/2021 06:15

Did some of you not get your A4 "certificate" when you had tour 4th vaccination?

We got one that lists all the dates of when you are vaccinated and explains you have had a full course of treatment over 4 vaccines you just don't know when.

I have woken up this morning still feeling rough but not as bad as yesterday so far. Still got a slight fever at 38.2 and feeling very very flu like but not as bad. I hope it dissappears soon.

CardinalCat · 30/04/2021 10:19

No a4 certificate for me, and they looked at me blankly when I mentioned it! I'm going to email the centre as I'm a bit dissatisfied at the fact they just shrugged when I asked the question.

MrsHamlet · 30/04/2021 10:21

Gah: my 4th jab is on Wednesday but they've just called to cancel it. It can be moved to one of two days, neither of which I can do.

Frazzled2207 · 30/04/2021 10:35

@CardinalCat
That’s bonkers you should definitely get one.

@MrsHamlet
Oh no! What are you/they going to do?

OP posts:
MrsHamlet · 30/04/2021 10:49

They're only doing Tuesday and Friday - but I exclusively teach exam classes so I can't miss lessons. If they won't move it back to where it was, or see me after 5, I will have to drop out.
It's really frustrating.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 30/04/2021 11:00

Oh no. Doing you after 5pm doesn't sound beyond the realms of possibility. Fingers crossed.

Frazzled2207 · 30/04/2021 11:10

@MrsHamlet
hopefully they will agree to see you after 5.
If you drop out and get unblinded and have only had one shot that potentially puts you in a tricky position does it not? If this happens I think you need to ask for very clear direction as to what you should do with regards getting a vaccine and how this would affect your passport/certificate (if it does). Hopefully it won't come to this though.

I thought that but they apparently don't work that late!!!
MrsHamlet · 30/04/2021 12:14

They've just called back and offered me the appointment they cancelled! Apparently that slot was free. You couldn't make it up.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 30/04/2021 13:07

God knows what was going on but what a relief!

Frazzled2207 · 30/04/2021 13:20

Phew! They hopefully realised they were unreasonable to just cancel you at this point.

MrsHamlet · 30/04/2021 18:00

It was really very strange. I had to grovel to get the morning off when I'm free so the thought of having to do that again was unappealing

Torvean · 30/04/2021 22:11

I got my A4 sheet.

My brother got hist first today. He's early 40s and got Moderna. He had to travel from Norwich to Great Yarmouth to get it.

He's 15 months younger than me. I live in NE Scotland and haven been called for my first. Theure focusing on the most vulnerable getting 2 jabs. So most over 50 have had 2 but 48 and under have had 0 unless you're as Islander or CEV/Carer etc.

Can you believe this is how they're trying out the first big event.

MrsHamlet · 30/04/2021 22:40

I heard about that on the news tonight. It sounds insane!

ItsSnowJokes · 01/05/2021 07:41

Finally woken up feeling relatively normal. Arm is still very swollen and sore but at least the fever, chills, shivers, aches and pains have all gone. 60 hours from vaccine to feeling normal (ish). If I find out it was the placebo this time I will look a fool, but i have honestly not felt this ill for years.

Frazzled2207 · 01/05/2021 11:12

Sounds rough. Hopefully that really is it now.
When I was at my last appointment the nurse told me I didn’t need to record side effects unless I was seriously unwell in which case I should call the on call doc. Only use the app if I actually thought I had covid. That’s wrong isn’t it? They need to know when people have been ill like you have.

Frazzled2207 · 01/05/2021 11:15

I’ve had an official letter and text asking me to book my nhs vaccine. I am going to email the centre to ask for reassurance that I shouldn’t.

Americans on the Facebook thread seem to be doing this (they have no medical advice either way) as they seem to think they won’t get their “CDC card” otherwise which apparently might be needed to actually get in places (not just travelling) soon. I don’t think that sounds very wise but it’s right to want to know what’s going to happen.

OP posts:
Frazzled2207 · 01/05/2021 11:16

The americans are going for other vaccines I mean despite having already had novavax
