@PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears

Well that's good. He said there wasn't a threshold on the bottom number.
Interesting. I was told 150/100. Couldn't get it below 100.
PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 21/04/2021 21:58

Well if there's one thing we've learned on here it's that every site does its own thing!

SpeckleDust · 21/04/2021 23:48

@Torvean

When do you go back *@SpeckleDust*?

Thats interesting to know @Monkeygirl68. I need to reread my contract. I was not told anything about being in it for another year.

I don’t have an appointment for going back but I was told they’d send me an email or call to make the 12 month appointment which would be around the end of October.

My arm is really sore this evening and I couldn’t get warm watching tv with two blankets on. Maybe this is the real one after all (no reaction after any of the other jabs).

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 22/04/2021 09:53

I signed a new contract (two identical - one for them and one for me) but I've just realised they didn't give me mine. Maybe I'll get it after my second crossover appt.

Frazzled2207 · 22/04/2021 09:54

4th and final shot done! Have my certificate which is fab except the most impractical thing ever, a4 thick card! Dr Baxter thinks the info will eventually turn up on an app and tells us not to worry!
Approval now expected in May but he can’t think of any reason why it won’t be. Made the point of saying that although no blood clot issues that they’re aware of they really can’t be sure until several million have had it as is likely to be very small numbers.
Back for bloods in the autumn- a year after our 2nd shot - and that’s it. We’ll all be unblinded around then but possibly beforehand if it turns out that that those of us that had it last autumn need a booster (either through an extended trial or the usual way).

Excellent! Thanks Frazzled! Well done!

SpeckleDust · 22/04/2021 10:07

@Frazzled2207 how are you feeling after shot #4?

My arm hurt really soon after and felt worse as the day went on. I'm still not sure if this is to do with the vaccine itself or whether the needle hit something (a nerve?) in my arm which has made it sore.

However I did feel very chilly last night and sort of spaced-out today which is how DH felt after his AZ vax. I'm thinking I had the real thing in the crossover but I guess I won't know for sure until the end of the trial.

Frazzled2207 · 22/04/2021 10:10

Am totally fine for now and really happy. A guy I spoke to like me has had nothing from 3 shots so far so also none the wiser. The nurse thought this was quite common.
Best thing was having briefest of chats with @andadietcoke who is having hers almost exactly now.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 22/04/2021 10:34

I’ve had the 3 shots and no effects of any kind from any of them. Prof Wright did say that they’ve had very few reports of any side effects.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 22/04/2021 14:32

Three shots and zero reaction - I love this vaccine!

Frazzled2207 · 22/04/2021 15:29

Six hours on and I’m fine. I’ve just been for a run though and my muscles definitely felt a bit more tired than usual. I’m recovering from an injury though so could be that. Probably unlikely to be vaccine related after 6 hours isn’t it?

Fourth shot done today for me too. Given the impractical certificate and new covid tests and will also return at the end of November.

There was a debate about which arm to use as my notes stated they used my right arm last time. They didn't. So I ended up with third and fourth shots in the same arm. It's aching slightly right now.

SpeckleDust · 22/04/2021 16:15

I feel ok now (approx 30 hours post vaccine #4) but definitely felt 'not right' all last night until about lunchtime today. Luckily I'm working at home so managed to have a lie-down for an hour mid morning. I've read that side effects can last up to 10 days from other CV19 vaccines.

My injection site still feels like someone punched me in the arm. In fact, if I didn't know any better, I'd think I'd been out on a massive night out last night as I had that hungover/bruised-from-falling-over feeling all morning Grin

MrsHamlet · 22/04/2021 19:50

That happened to me with 1&2.
I've had all three in the same arm.

Torvean · 22/04/2021 23:36

Mine are pretty good at rotating arms. My last will be in my left.

I was listening to the radio today and the presenter was getting his Covid jab tomorrow, he was nervous and wanted advice. A woman phoned in saying she was a vaccination nurse. She told him that he should expect a severe headache and he would probably need the day off work the day after as apparently that's what everyone does ...... Guarantee he will get a headache now as she has told him he will get one.

I know this next link isn't about Novovax but I don't want to put it where the vaccine anxious or anti vaxxers look.

I thought that the pharmaceutical companies had special legal cover due to the emergency need to get a vaccine. I do of course feel sorry for her family.

@BG2015 when you were unblinded. Had you had the vaccine? If so what did they say about follow up?

BG2015 · 23/04/2021 06:20
@BG2015 when you were unblinded. Had you had the vaccine? If so what did they say about follow up?
I was unblinded in March and I had had the vaccine 23rd October then 11th November.

They just said to come back for the bloods appointment (think it's 6th May) I'm at Cheadle.

A letter was sent to me and my GP with the dates confirming but it was an NHS trust letter.

They said nothing about boosters during my unblinding phone call.

Vermutwitholive · 23/04/2021 13:26

Had 3 injections now and no reactions whatsoever either! None the wiser now on whether I had it on October or now!

Frazzled2207 · 23/04/2021 14:59

30 hours on and still fine.
Hope @andadietcoke is ok?

I got to meet actual @Frazzled2207 yesterday so that's my vaccine trial experience made! No symptoms at all so of course it will turn out I had the active vaccination in April!

Loving the certificate. It feels like it needs a frame!

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 23/04/2021 23:41

I'm defo gonna frame mine!

How was your BP today?!

Glad you two finally got to meet!

Torvean · 24/04/2021 03:44

@BG2015 def bring it up at your bloods appointment. I was told if it wasn't available to get the booster on nhs in October then the study site would give it at the 12 month unblinding appt

andadietcoke · 24/04/2021 10:04

@PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears it was okay. The same doctor did my first bit and remembered me and said it would be all fine, and I took my photos of my readings which she thought was hilarious. I took my BP medication late the night before and then again before the appt (not sure if this is cheating or clinically recommended!) and it was fine, and actually really low for me afterwards. I was talking to the nurse that did my 30 minute obs and she said it's really common because of the stakes involved - we desperately want to take part and be protected. The funny thing is that when it's approved they won't even take BP before they give it!

Torvean · 25/04/2021 22:16

I think I'll end up getting booked from the FB Novovax group. This woman from over the Atlantic won't accept anything unless she has read the data herself.
So if I say something my study centre has said, well it can't be right as she hasn't read that.

She then denied that Novovax was being used as a second vaccination in other studies. I think it killed her when I put up the link showing it is happening in the UK.

I also don't believe they all would have done it for free. There was a bit saying there was a slight delay in crossover dates so they get 30$ for the inconvenience...... Arghhh. I had to step away.

Daftapath · 26/04/2021 07:37

It's strange how things are so different in the States. I can't believe how many are so blasé about getting antibody tests and unblinding themselves. Clearly no understanding of what it means to be part of a double blind study!

So, having thought that I probably had the actual vaccine in November, I'm not so sure now since my 4th jab last week! Friday morning I had a high temp and pretty sore arm. I had two naps during the day Blush Sunce then I have had a very large red welt/swollen upper arm. The red patch has now moved to cover the whole of my bicep and is very itchy.
Not a lot was made of recording side effects at the appointment so wasn't sure what to do but I might call them today to see whether I should be concerned that it is still there 4 days later and whether they want to record the effects.
So I had 3/4 jabs that gave me a painful arm! 🤷🏼‍♀️
