So even if you haven't been personally invited, you can use that link?

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel · 30/01/2021 15:46

... meant to add, if you are over 70, of course

Thefamousfivegetcovid · 30/01/2021 15:47

I told my parents based on reading this earlier today and they have now booked in. Thank you everyone sharing this on MN! They hadn't had a letter but the system let them.

Lemons1571 · 30/01/2021 15:47

That’s really good. Do you not need the letter to be issued any more?

Yes!

That's right. It won't be in your local GP surgery but if you don't mind that then it's awesome.

Lemons my understanding is if the website lets you book, you are eligible and your letter has most likely been issued but not reached you yet. If you aren't eligible, the website doesn't let you progress.

Ismellphantoms · 30/01/2021 15:54

The website wouldn't let me progress.

What did it say?

Just be aware that another thread pointing this link out was deleted as people reported it thinking it was a “cheat” and allowed people to queue jump. It is not of course, I checked myself and DH knowing we are both not yet eligible and it said we could not book yet.

I shared the link on my village Facebook page yesterday and several 70+ and CEV people have booked their vaccines as a result, but I still had posts telling me that the link should not be used unless you’ve had a letter 🙄

notevenat20 · 30/01/2021 16:07

@CaveMum That's just a mistake. It's an official NHS website set up to make sure everyone eligible gets the vaccine. I am really happy to hear about the success of your FB post!

Oh I know they’re wrong @notevenat20, it’s just frustrating when you’re trying to help people out and other people are shouting “WAIT FOR YOUR LETTER!” over you.

Hazelflies · 30/01/2021 16:17

Thank you so much OP I have just booked for DF.

I saw this on another thread and booked my parents this morning, they are going tomorrow. It doesn't give the option of local GP hub so they are travelling to bigger centre further away, but they are able and happy to do so.

ssd · 30/01/2021 16:50

This is brilliant, come on Scotland we need to catch up.

55larry · 30/01/2021 16:50

Thank you for the link. Dh who is 74 had his letter yesterday and booked his appointment for Monday. I am 69 but I have diabetes so I decided to try the link and it let me book. You have to put your NHS no. in so they can check your records. I had to chose which of the big centres to to and have to drive for about 30 minutes. I wonder if there are a lot of people who are waiting for an appointment at their GP surgery.

I feel that as I can travel it is better to let people who haven’t got transport have the very local appointments.

Ismellphantoms · 30/01/2021 16:57

Hooray! The link has now worked and I have my jab booked. My DH had his a month ago and since then there have been deaths of friends which has really got to me. Thank you so much for the link. It has made my day.

You don’t have to have your NHS number (in case this puts anyone off checking). If you don’t have it you can still check, it will ask your full name, date of birth and the postcode you are registered at your GP’s under.

It says you have to be registered with GP in England so doesn't apply to Wales.

Yes. Can I gently recommend making as loud a fuss about this as you can. I would start by writing to your assembly member. They really very to pick up their game.
