I had no idea. Apologies if this is common knowledge.

I've just booked my CEV DH in for tomorrow. Yay!

It's true it won't let you do it if you're not eligible - it accepted his nhs number but rejected mine (I wasn't going to actually have it - just testing the system)

pinkpip100 · 31/01/2021 00:06

@LizzieSiddal

pink does your mums surgery have a Facebook page? I know ours puts all their info in there. They update everyday on it. Ours are now saying you should phone if your over 70 and haven’t had a letter but I’m sure every surgery will be different and will depend on whose been vaccinated so far.
Thanks @LizzieSiddal - I'll get her to check.
JaniceBattersby · 31/01/2021 00:09

Those who are being told they are not yet eligible (but believe they are), keep trying. Different areas are being opened up gradually so you will be able to boom in the next few days.

The official comms are not being done yet as they are stress-testing the system but it is 100% legitimate and the authorities are very, very keen for people to keep trying to book.

I have this from the horse’s mouth Wink

ShakeTheDisease · 31/01/2021 00:17

I had no idea. Thank you, thank you @notevenat20 for posting this. Me and my family member, both CEV, booked in for next Thursday. Only about 5 miles away but I was happy to go wherever (as a car owner) and at whatever time, with the most local venues left for people who can't travel as easily. I am so relieved to get a date!

JengaJanga · 31/01/2021 00:17

First thread was deleted by mumsnet and wont reinstate but theres also another thread about that thread...

Due to the original thread, iv booked , CEV and had my jab today.

Shadeelane · 31/01/2021 00:53

Sorry OP but this article says different. It's a loophole that the NHS are asking people not to use.

JengaJanga · 31/01/2021 01:04

@Shadeelane

That is weird because the dr who done mine at the hub was encouraging this and also when i spoke to 119 yesterday.
You cant book if your a fit healthy 20 year old.
Only if your in the top 4 groups

daisypond · 31/01/2021 01:12

The link specifically says:
“You can only use this service if you have received a letter inviting you to book your vaccination appointments.”

I tried to book using the link for my elderly parents -late 80s- and it said they weren’t eligible! So there’s clearly some glitches in the system.

JengaJanga · 31/01/2021 01:20

@daisypond

Yes, but it will only let you book ‘if’ the letter has been generated on the system.

Keep trying, it will allow you.

I checked with 119 (Covid helpline) and the doctor at the Covid Hub today and they both said they welcome people doing this

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 31/01/2021 01:25

Off the back of @gisbons original deleted (why?) thread I am booked in later today :) I am ECV and travelling 45 minutes for it. This is 2 weeks ahead of my expectations and it makes a massive difference to a change in my medical treatment.

gisbons · 31/01/2021 01:57

Yep, and the only reason I started the thread was because 119 told me they were trying to publicise it! And I also checked with the vaccination centre who said the same...

MrsFezziwig · 31/01/2021 02:38

It’s not quite my turn yet, but I’ll start checking in the next couple of weeks as I’ll have no problem getting to a mass vaccination centre
and will be treating it as a bit of a day out

Chattercino · 31/01/2021 07:14

Parents booked in! Thanks so much OP!

NeverForgetYourDreams · 31/01/2021 07:40

@gisbons

Hopefully MNHQ will keep this thread up! Anyone would think they actively didn’t want the vulnerable to be vaccinated 🙄
Thanks to you my parents have had the first vaccine. Ironically they each got a text that afternoon from doctors inviting them to book in for one. Different doctors as divorced.

Proves that the link will ONLY work for those that have been loaded on but have had a delay in receiving a letter or text.

Thanks again. X

TammyTwoSwanson · 31/01/2021 08:17

I'm CEV (40ish) and the link works for me, it lets me go through the whole booking process with my NHS number, but I still haven't booked because literally everything else I read about this on Google/NHS sites etc say "wait until you've had your letter!"

Will I definitely be okay to book, and I'm not taking the vaccine of someone more needy?
I've been isolating since March and before that I was isolating due to cancer treatment so it seems too good to be true!

chestnutSquash · 31/01/2021 08:22

If you are eligible of course you should book. We need to get all the vulnerable people done asap, then we can move on to the next group.

Jinglealltheway22 · 31/01/2021 08:32

@TammyTwoSwanson
I spoke to 119 yesterday and they said you can only book if you are eligible, so it was fine to book

Good luck! X

TammyTwoSwanson · 31/01/2021 08:52

I booked! Getting my vaccine tomorrow!!!

I tried to book for non CEV DH, and it wouldn't let me. I wouldn't have confirmed obv, but testing it made me feel better.

Cannot believe it. So happy!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 31/01/2021 08:54

Thank you so much OP! I passed the link onto my 73 year old mum and she's been able to book an appointment for next Friday. We are relieved beyond words!

Smoothyloopy · 31/01/2021 08:57

Thanks for that, my DM now booked. My DF had his last week but as she's a couple of years younger hadn't been called yet.

She now off to tell all her friends.

Wheezyfreespirit · 31/01/2021 09:00

Thank you @notevenat20 💐

TammyTwoSwanson · 31/01/2021 09:02

Yes, thank you OP! FlowersStar

blametheparents · 31/01/2021 09:08

Making sure this thread stays in Active Conversations by logging on to say ‘Thanks OP’ - I forwarded the link to a few friends who managed to get their parents booked in.

Skipsurvey · 31/01/2021 09:10

do you have to work out the second vaccination date or do they work it out for you?

lotusbell · 31/01/2021 09:13

Just wondering if I should mention this to my 72 year old DF. He would be able to drive to a central vaccination centre for it if that is where the mentioned link will take him, but think he'd prefer to wait for his letter and have it done locally but I might try, he may surprise me Wink
