I had no idea. Apologies if this is common knowledge.

FourTeaFallOut. No pat downs unfortunately for him!

He went to a chemist as closest. Outside 3 people. 1 took his temp, 1 took name and address, and there was a man with a clipboard.

Went inside was a man behind a screen asked for his booking number, DOB and address. He didn’t need NHS number, shielding letter or photo ID which I had given him to take just in case.

Then got taken into room where another man asked him questions i.e allergy’s, medication.

Jabbed him, asked him to wait for 15 mins. DH asked if he could wait outside in car and they said that was ok. He was given Oxford, and told he could get called back earlier (his 2nd is booked for April 18th atm)

2 hours later and no arrests from the authorities yet.

Long post, but I sometimes post things I would like to read for reassurance Smile

seven201 · 30/01/2021 19:14

Link didn't work for my CEV (but under 70) FIL. Don't know why!

CaveMum · 30/01/2021 19:19

Try again tomorrow @seven201, the lists will be updated daily as more people get their jabs. They are definitely doing the CEV - my mum (64 but CEV) was done on Monday - but it might vary a bit from area to area depending on how up to date they are with the higher priority groups.

FourTeaFallOut · 30/01/2021 19:21

Actually, that really does help. I have my jab booked for Monday evening, so all of that that is good to know. Especially being able to wait in the car, I hope I can do that too. Thank you.

FourTeaFallOut · 30/01/2021 19:25

@AnnaFiveTowns

Thank you OP. Do you know why the government aren't telling people about this?
Perhaps it is so the whole country doesn't just go on the moment they first hear about it, just to check it out, and unintentionally crash the website?
gisbons · 30/01/2021 19:27

@FourTeaFallOut

Did you get a reply gisbons?
I explained that the information in my threads was accurate and legitimate. I said that I thought the AIBU frothers may have been getting confused between the totally legitimate NHS public booking site and the NHS staff booking site (as the latter had been leaked and some people had booked when they weren’t meant to). I asked them to reinstate my threads and that actually they should be promoting the booking service rather than deleting threads on it. They have not replied yet. I wonder if that is because they would have to admit they acted too hastily in deleting due to “many reports” to “look behind the scenes?”

Anyway, the main - and most important - thing is that the booking link has continued to be shared on the boards, and every hour more MNers are booking themselves and their loved ones on for their vaccinations. That’s the most important thing. Smile

ChessIsASport · 30/01/2021 19:33

@notevenat20 I’m confused. The page that links to the one you have shared still states that you should only use the link if you have had your letter. Where did you hear that it was ok to use?

I don’t want to tell my parents about it until I am sure that it is official.

It is official.

If you are not eligible, it won’t let you book.

ChessIsASport · 30/01/2021 19:37

@gisbons thank you. It’s strange that they haven’t changed the wording. I can imagine that it would put a lot of elderly people off booking.

Mischance · 30/01/2021 19:38

I have no idea why the government did not publicise this fact properly. It is not a cheat - it is entirely legitimate, but we were left to discover this for ourselves.

pinkpip100 · 30/01/2021 19:44

Does anyone know if GP surgeries will still contact people in one of the first 4 groups, even though this link is available? My dm is 78, she received a letter inviting her to book using the link. When she tried, the nearest centre was a 40 minute train ride away (she doesn't drive). So she hasn't booked, and is now waiting for her GP surgery to contact her to book her in somewhere more local. She is just assuming that will happen - but can't actually speak to her GP as their phone message clearly states 'do not call us about the vaccination, wait for your letter'. I'm really worried she'll get 'missed' as they move on to the next group.

MiaMc · 30/01/2021 19:50

Are you sure this is right? If so, why does it say on the link....

“ You can only use this service if you have received a letter inviting you to book your vaccination appointments.” ?

QueenPawPaws · 30/01/2021 19:52

@MiaMc I think that's to stop people freaking out if it says not eligible
People are eligible if there is a letter being produced which is why they can book
It wouldn't let me until this week, and I know I'm eligible for the vaccine, they just weren't up to ECV people yet

PatriciaHolm · 30/01/2021 19:54

@MiaMc

Yes. The letter is simply a way of telling you you are now eligible to book; you are added to the system as eligible in order to produce a letter. You are eligible to book from the moment you are added to the system, but a letter might then take 2/3/4 + days to get to you. Or not arrive at all. So you are eligible to book, even if your letter is only on its way and not in your hands.

If you are not eligible, the system will not let you book.

gisbons · 30/01/2021 19:55

@QueenPawPaws exactly - it's a clumsy way (perhaps on purpose) of saying - don't book until it's your turn. If you are in the top four groups it is your turn!

Posters on other threads have noticed that if you can book on here it means your letter has been generated. We've had quite a few comments along the lines of "I booked my vaccination and went the next day, then three days later my letter turned up."

LizzieSiddal · 30/01/2021 19:56

pink does your mums surgery have a Facebook page? I know ours puts all their info in there. They update everyday on it. Ours are now saying you should phone if your over 70 and haven’t had a letter but I’m sure every surgery will be different and will depend on whose been vaccinated so far.

AlbertCampion · 30/01/2021 20:02

This is brilliant, but it won't let me book - despite the fact that I am CEV. I have only become so relatively recently and I am now worried that my GP hasn't logged me as such because of the pressures they are under. I know we're not supposed to call them to ask though - should I just wait it out?

tangoboxing · 30/01/2021 20:03

I booked my MIL's appointment using that link a couple of days ago! She's 74 & has an appointment on Wednesday (it could have been earlier but she was 'busy' Confused ). My parents (65 & 68) aren't eligible to book yet, it will be interesting to see how it will take to get down to priority 5.

Can you send them an email? or an online query through their website?
Applejack87 · 30/01/2021 20:12

Can the second jab be booked on here ?

Ismellphantoms · 30/01/2021 20:19

The second jab is booked at the same time as the first. I was sent two booking confirmation, one for each date.

Mallowmarshmallow · 30/01/2021 20:22

Thank you so much for this. My parents are delighted to be booked in for the end of the week.

Mallowmarshmallow · 30/01/2021 20:23

@Applejack87, I don't think you can book second doses. I typed in my details and it said I was illegible as I was awaiting my second dose and should contact my GP instead.

Toastandtea1 · 30/01/2021 20:33

Thank you so much for this, got myself booked in! And yes, it doesn’t work for anyone not eligible so it must link up to your NHS details via your number. Pass the link on everywhere!!!

It’s possible your area haven’t quite reached the CEV group yet if they’re still doing the over 80s and healthcare workers. Keep checking every day as each day the list of those eligible will be updated daily.
