I haven’t had chance to listen but the efficacy after 1 dose is discussed - reported as 89%

InterfectoremVulpes · 18/01/2021 18:42

@TeaInTheGarden

Over 4 million first doses of vaccine given. How long till we get to 5 million do we think? I’m going for Wednesday, and therefore showing up in Thursday figures....
I'm going to stick my neck out and say next Monday will see 7m 😮

Hope I've not jinxed it now 😬

Pomegranatespompom · 18/01/2021 18:43

Just to add not all immunologists agree with the longer gap. I don’t want to be inaccurate.

tootyfruitypickle · 18/01/2021 19:15

@TheChineseChicken. Yes that scenario kept me awake last night! Looking good though !

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 18/01/2021 19:34

I say 5 million by this Friday

They are upping capacity this week. The over 70s should be faster to deal with than the over 80s. That should help.

Plus a lot of 70s are still driving themselves. So can get to mass centres easier.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/01/2021 20:35

Apologies, scratch what I said earlier about Israel, they have added some more cases to the number.

TeaInTheGarden · 18/01/2021 20:37

@InterfectoremVulpes ambitious, I like it!

Where are you finding this information from please - also do you know where I could find a table that shows how many vaccination each country has already done please?
TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/01/2021 20:46

For cases and death numbers by country Worldometer. For vaccination numbers Our World In Data.

MarcelineMissouri · 18/01/2021 20:50

Another positive article on Israel

MarshaBradyo · 18/01/2021 21:02

Love the term exit strategy actually for exiting situation

Good to read re Israel. Fingers crossed we see drops soon too

TheKeatingFive · 18/01/2021 21:09

That’s very heartening news coming out of Israel. Fair play to them for rolling this out so quickly.

‘Regev-Yohai also added that people who received both doses of the vaccine will most likely not become carriers of the virus and will not spread it further due to the high level of antibodies.‘

Let’s hope so, eh?!

This would be amazing 🤩
TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 19/01/2021 08:02

Did we know Mary Berry has had the jab?
As a childhood sufferer from a disease that has been beaten in this country by vaccines she is not surprisingly very much in favour.

Blerg · 19/01/2021 08:48

Amazing news about the data from Israel!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 19/01/2021 10:51

They are saying vaccine will be prioritised to the areas that have been struggling to get over 80s done.

So that is good news. Hopefully it will stop to much discrepancy across the country Smile

Manzanilla55 · 23/01/2021 16:22

Roll on mid February and the 4 top categories of vulnerability are fully vaccinated.

AmongUs · 23/01/2021 20:53

Just heard about this great piece of work going on ....

www.ashfordstpeters.nhs.uk/latest-news/2610-covid-busting-nasal-spray-begins-uk-trials

The first UK clinical trials of a nasal spray proven to kill 99.9% of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 will begin on January 11th at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, in Surrey.

The SaNOtize Nitric Oxide Nasal Spray (NONS) is designed to kill the virus in the upper airways, preventing it from incubating and spreading to the lungs.

The treatment, developed by SaNOtize Research and Development Corp. based in Vancouver, Canada, proved 99.9% effective in killing the coronavirus in independent lab tests at Utah State University’s Antiviral Research Institute. Additional studies in rodents with COVID-19 infection showed over 95% reduction within the first day after infection.

It is currently undergoing Phase II clinical trials throughout Canada approved by Health Canada, and in other countries.
