Haha let's just all get over it 😂

I’m glad everyone is friends again.

I still great to be able to see the figures drop so clearly in this lockdown. I think there will suddenly be a point where the effect of the vaccinations kicks in, combined with the effect of lockdown, and the cases, mortality and hospitalisation figures will drop dramatically. Can’t wait for that to happen

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/01/2021 16:39

@FuzzyPuffling

Still rocketing upwards alarmingly in Cornwall. Almost the same as at our highest peak. We're feeling very overlooked here. HELP! Send Marzipan.
Oh dear

Just try to think of it as that ripple effect. Cornwall is one of the last to feel it but that is good because the wave of cases is smaller Smile

Definitely send for Marzipan with a saddle bag of vaccine Grin

The table of councils on the www.covidmessenger.com homepage is updated with today's data release.

The new barometer on the homepage is holding firm!

I was a bit worried yesterday was an anomaly and the number of "green" councils would fall today.

But thankfully I needn't have worried!

Confusedismyname · 17/01/2021 16:42

How have I only found this thread now! Just what I needed.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 17/01/2021 16:49

Just having a blether with the husband who it turns out is a fucking doom muppet Hmm

I just need a bit of 'there there everything's gonna be ok' but he's too bloody logical and realistic.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/01/2021 16:52

There is a reason for the rapid speed of my London boroughs vaccination scheme.

We have only just dropped down into the nine hundreds and something cases a day. Previously we have been well over a thousand.

Yes they are saying group 4 will get a letter soon. However I fear that is because we have a very high BAME population in this borough. It you look at the news the black and Asian communities are being bombarded with false new and have a lot of reluctance to have the vaccine. I worry that the bad take up in the BAME elderly is the reason we are moving fast.

So what I am saying is everyone and every where has their issues. We just have to celebrate the good stuff when we can.

I was worried you wasted all that work putting it on and it would just go totally green the next day.

Ok I wasn't worried at all. I was hoping Grin Still by next week fingers crossed Wine

FuzzyPuffling · 17/01/2021 17:13

littelowl!, your numbers vary massively from Zoes? (I'm not carping, just wondering)

Your chart has Cornwall at 299 cases per 100,000, Zoe says 630.
Zoe says we're 327 cases up on last week's total, now at the second highest ever.

I'm genuinely wondering how the difference in these numbers comes about. (And which ones shall I look at?)

The logical and realistic outlook right now is that everything is going get a lot better fairly soon, though. Anyone predicting that cases will suddenly start going up again or that vaccines will inexplicably stop working is not thinking of the most likely scenario.
GoldenOmber · 17/01/2021 17:15

Zoe is predicting actual cases rather than just the ones that test positive - could that be it?

thatgingergirl · 17/01/2021 17:22

FuzzyPuffling - government cases thingy has Cornwall and Isles of Scilly on a downward trend (on the map). coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map

Zogstart · 17/01/2021 17:42

7.5% of the U.K. adult population have now had their first dose of the vaccine. From the coronavirus good news Twitter account.

FuzzyPuffling · 17/01/2021 17:44

Zoe has it massively up though. 327 up on last week, current active cases 3521. (highest level was 3,700 a few days ago)

I don't get how different measuring tools can have such extremely different results. I'd expect them to be within spitting distance of each other.

(Anecdotally, it's pretty rampant!)

Miniature animals, daffodils and magnolias - that and the great Covid news on this thread keeps me sane! Thank you!

FourTeaFallOut · 17/01/2021 17:49

Oh, I don't take much notice of the local Zoe numbers. Ours can have 5 figures one days and drop to 6000 the next. Although it hasn't been lower than 5000 since September, I think.
