Have most over 80s been called for vaccine now?

Do you have a family member over 80 who has not had the call yet?

My DF still hasn't heard. All other family members over 80 have had already theirs, or have appointments this week.

He has underlying conditions that would put him at particular risk and he's refusing to shield Hmm so hoping it won't be much longer.

My aunt hasn't heard yet. I think most efforts have been focused on care homes so far.

mumpleasemayi · 08/01/2021 07:48

No, my grandma age 90 is in hospital for the second time in as many weeks has not been given or been called for her jab yetHmm

NewIdeasToday · 08/01/2021 07:48

I think the NHS is still working through over 80s. I have one family member called a few weeks ago and another just called for next week. Both over 80.

starrynight19 · 08/01/2021 07:49

Two elderly grandparents age 98 and 93 neither heard anything yet.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 08/01/2021 07:49

I think they said yesterday in the press conference that 1/4 of over 80s had been done so far.

FippertyGibbett · 08/01/2021 07:50

My 75 year old DM was called yesterday.

GoldenMalicious · 08/01/2021 07:50

My 90 year old mother hasn’t been contacted yet. We have chased up as she lives with us and my two teenage kids, so while schools were open I was deeply worried that they represented the biggest risk in terms of bringing COVID to our house. I need mum to be vaccinated well before I’d feel comfortable with the kids going back to school. GP surgery just said they’d only had 250 vaccines at that point and were selecting patients at random to be vaccinated.

Stinkyjellycat · 08/01/2021 07:50

No. Only 1.5m vaccines have been done so far but a lot of these (most?) are NHS staff and patients in hospital according to the reports I’ve read. There are 6.1m people in the first two categories (and over 80s are the second category).

My PILs are both over 80 and haven't heard yet. Also my friend's dad who is 89.

RoseAndRose · 08/01/2021 07:51

The said, only a day or so ago, that they've done about a quarter.

FippertyGibbett · 08/01/2021 07:51

And my 94 year old MIL was called before Xmas.

CrunchyCarrot · 08/01/2021 07:51

Yep, that's what I heard them say. It's slow-going at the moment. Hopefully will speed up with the Oxford vaccine being deployed too.

Aramox · 08/01/2021 07:52

No, my mum’s in her 90s and her surgery say they’re’waiting for instructions’

satnighttakeaway · 08/01/2021 07:52

Nowhere near all of them have had it, less that 1.3millions in total and arent there something like 4million over 80s?

nitgel · 08/01/2021 07:53

Nothing for my dad (90). Others at local surgeries have been given appointments but not his yet.

wellthatsunusual · 08/01/2021 07:54

Not amongst the elderly people I know. (Some of them haven't even been called yet for the flu vaccine they were meant to get in October, although I'd guess there's no point in that one at this stage. ) My mother is in her late 80s and hasn't heard anything about the vaccine yet, nor have any of my friends parents who are over 80.

MaudebeGonne · 08/01/2021 07:54

My Grandma (early 90's) had her second jab yesterday.

RMarieClaire · 08/01/2021 07:54

DH'a gran - in her late 80s - hasn't even been able to get her flu jab yet!

nitgel · 08/01/2021 07:55

Maybe we can update this thread when they do hear as it's making me a bit anxious.

LadyPenelope68 · 08/01/2021 07:56

My Mum is 85, she hasn’t heard anything yet.

CeeJay81 · 08/01/2021 07:57

My 92 year old gran still hasn't been called for vaccine appointment. She's in Scotland, so don't know if they are behind England.

SusannaSpider · 08/01/2021 07:58

My Dad and my auntie both have had it. They have been working into the evening at Dad's health centre, he had his at 7pm.

Jocasta2018 · 08/01/2021 07:59

Family member turned 80 in October 2020. Has just had his 2nd vaccination. He's in the Reading area & had been shielding throughout.
Have an aunt & uncle who are 90+ - haven't heard from them whether they've been called in. They're in Glos.
I think it depends on the CCG for your area.

Pippioddstocking · 08/01/2021 08:00

It’s a bit of a lottery at the moment to even get the vaccine. We’ve only been given 150 vaccines so far and we have 8000 patients .
We’ve no idea when we are getting our next batch in.

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 08/01/2021 08:05

My Dad aged 85 with heart problems hasn't heard anything yet.
