Have most over 80s been called for vaccine now?

Do you have a family member over 80 who has not had the call yet?

My DF still hasn't heard. All other family members over 80 have had already theirs, or have appointments this week.

He has underlying conditions that would put him at particular risk and he's refusing to shield Hmm so hoping it won't be much longer.

Nope, DM is 80 and nothing yet

Jrobhatch29 · 08/01/2021 08:07

No my nanna is 82 and has dialysis and hasn't been called yet

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/01/2021 08:07

I know quite a few elderly that have now had their first vaccine. MiL has had her second dose postponed and she’s gutted as she now can’t see us for a further 12 weeks as she’s shielding.

Lurkingforawhile · 08/01/2021 08:08

@wellthatsunusual there's definitely still a point in having the flu vaccine - worth chasing for that. January tends to be the flu season and it can be dangerous

User647647 · 08/01/2021 08:09

My FIL hasn’t heard but some of his friends have appointments for next week.

RosesforMama · 08/01/2021 08:10

My mum is 80 and hasn't heard. But as she says, where she lives everyone is 80+ so she doesn't expect it to be imminent.

ChasingRainbows19 · 08/01/2021 08:10

A friends mum in one area has had both injections while my parents in law in their 80s in my local area haven’t had any yet as vaccines delayed and clinics cancelled/postponed. The batches are only coming through in trickles to where they are needed. I think lots are set up ready but can’t do anywhere near as many as they want

So typically a postcode lottery. My hospital trust has received vaccines this week so staff can finally start being vaccinated too.

IPead · 08/01/2021 08:11

My grandmother is 90 and hasn’t been called for hers yet.

thegreylady · 08/01/2021 08:12

Husband is 84 and not been called yet.

Alfaix · 08/01/2021 08:13

I saw 3 over 80s at work yesterday, none has heard.
However the roll out is increasing a lot. I’m getting vaccinator training on Saturday (plus jabbed myself) and have first session booked next week.

CarryOnFestiveNamechanging · 08/01/2021 08:13

Neither of my parents have been called yet. Mid 80s with lots of health issues.

Where I live it seems to depend on which GP practice people are registered with. Those at one have had it or been invited to have it. Those at another have heard nothing.

FippertyGibbett · 08/01/2021 08:13

I have two friends who have got a temporary contract from the NHS to do the Covid vaccines.
They have not got a start date yet.
In my area the jabs are being done by groups of GP surgeries who have got together to run clinics.

rhowton · 08/01/2021 08:14

My grandma 80, still hasn't been called! Her doctors is rated worst in the area and is generally poorly managed and terrible.

sunnyday1976 · 08/01/2021 08:16

My 91 year old Grandma hasn't heard anything yet. All her much younger (early 80s Grin) friends seem to have had it.
Does anyone know if it's random or maybe alphabetical in some areas, as she's very near the end of the alphabet?

ILookAtTheFloor · 08/01/2021 08:17

I think it's a real postcode lottery. My nan is 94 and in East London, she had her 2nd jab yesterday.

We live very close to a GP vaccine hub that are working through their books of over 80s and starting to do house bound and care home residents now they have the Oxford one. I think it really depends on where you live.

user1493494961 · 08/01/2021 08:22

It seems to be a bit of a postcode lottery.

JumboShiitake · 08/01/2021 08:23

Thanks all, if it's only 1/4 so far it sounds like my other family members have just been fortunate then.

Can't see them moving on to the CEV group by Feb at this rate Hmm

DP is group 4 and had an NHS text yesterday to say his is expected mid Feb.

My 92 year old gran in South Wales hasn’t yet. She’s at home, but carers come to get. Getting a bit ridiculous.

littlepeas · 08/01/2021 08:24

Come to HER.

user1487194234 · 08/01/2021 08:25

In Scotland and don't know anyone who has had it unless NHS or in a care home

notanotherlockdownsurely · 08/01/2021 08:28

DP's due to have it today

Seeline · 08/01/2021 08:29

My mum is 83 , south London, hasn't heard a thing. None of her friends have either.

Does the call come from your GP? If so hers is crap, so a bit worried about that.

Whattodoffs · 08/01/2021 08:31

My dad is 83 and had a call yesterday saying he is having his on Tuesday. My mum is 78 and a lot more vulnerable than my dad (lung cancer and had over half her lung removed) and we've not heard anything about her. That being said she can't have the Pfizer one as she has had anaphylaxis before....not sure if the same principle applies to the Oxford vaccine x

Whattodoffs · 08/01/2021 08:33

@Seeline my dad's call came from his GP surgery. A friend's dad had a call from the local council saying to go to the local council office where a station has been set up, to have his.

Not really sure how the logistics of this is being worked out

mummybug355 · 08/01/2021 08:33

My grandmother is 93 with multiple health conditions she is extremely vulnerable she was putting hospital in November because she fell and broke her hip has been in hospital ever since she is still not been given a vaccine and we never even got a you must isolate letter for her
