Boris announcement

What do you think Boris is going to announce tomorrow? Is he going to announce a full lockdown the day before Christmas Eve?

OP posts:
Changeismyname · 22/12/2020 22:12

@SakiSiam

Is Schitts Creek netflix? Heard a lot about it but not been able to watch it. I do think the advice to find some easy viewing that doesn't require any thinking is good. A couple of years ago I got into Bargain Hunt, Homes Under the Hammer, and David Dickinson's Real Deal (programmes I'd never watched before) when I couldn't get off the sofa due to grief. I'm obsessed with news, print press and online, and television, but it certainly doesn't help my mental health. The above mentioned programmes take me away from that.

I've also found that writing my thoughts down makes a big difference, particularly if it's likely no-one will read them.

It’s on Netflix and E4

Telegraph reporting it too

"Tier 4 to be widened on Boxing Day"

Those yellow circles are quite vague! Can’t really tell if our area would be included or not...

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 22/12/2020 22:14

I read the Torygraph to know my enemy - they deffo get leaked to

onedayinthefuture · 22/12/2020 22:15

OP I completely understand where you are coming from and you have young children. Mothers and young children shouldn't be hidden away for the best part of a year with no social interaction. It's a fucking disgrace. I have a 5 year old and a 1 year old and every day is the same. Tier 4 here too and I could literally jump off a cliff. I love my kids so wouldn't but we've been doing the same fucking walks for months and they need their wider family.

CoffeeCreamandSugar · 22/12/2020 22:19

It’s really a no win situation whatever you do. I dislike the Tories and will never, ever vote for them because my values don’t align with theirs but they are damned whatever they do.

I don’t particularly like starmer either. I feel politically bereft at the moment Confused

I’m not sure if my own mental health could take another lockdown with the children at home... and I work in mental health Sad

Something needs to change

CoffeeCreamandSugar · 22/12/2020 22:20

Are they going for tier four so they can abdicate giving financial assistance?

telephonebox · 22/12/2020 22:20

Yh I think it would be tier 4 announcement for most areas and maybe a few updates with the lorry issues. I've never so badly wanted a vaccine in my life. I hope we get an positive update about the vaccines too.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 22/12/2020 22:21

So all speculation at the moment then ?

Tangerines2021 · 22/12/2020 22:23

@donewithitalltodayandxmas

So all speculation at the moment then ?
It seems more of a concrete leak (as we’ve come to expect) that some more areas are going into Tier 4 on Boxing Day with lockdown coming in New year/soon after.
Randomrebel · 22/12/2020 22:25

Bloody sick of these leaks!! Surely once is a mistake twice, is unfortunate but now it just looks shoddy, underhanded and incompetent.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 22/12/2020 22:25

@Tangerines2021 yes seems we learn a lot thru papers apart from tier 4 , amendment if xmas one
Not surprised really

Tangerines2021 · 22/12/2020 22:26

Yes I think it’s just the way they operate now... to kind of elongate the time period that the announcement happens over? Or something? I actually have no idea Confused

Polkadot89 · 22/12/2020 22:26

Has anyone got an idea which areas might go into the tier 4?

Tangerines2021 · 22/12/2020 22:27

There’s a list in various papers... seems to be areas on midlands and maybe east ?

willsantausesantatize · 22/12/2020 22:28

I may mock Boris's hair, but I wouldn't want his job either and his surrounded himself with the likes of Grant Shapps who looks like he couldn't care less most of the time.
However, Sir Kier Starmer is a disappointment and I am not sure he really wants his job either. He isn't who the Labour Party needs.
The pandemic and Brexit is a perfect storm of trouble and it's all so grim! I dread putting the news on most mornings now.
Seems it's going to be tier 4 for more areas : can the economy take this hit?
I'd say no. Not a long lockdown anyway.

Em777 · 22/12/2020 22:28

Ha, me too. I will say, as loopy right wing as many of their opinion pieces are, they do a better job of providing a range of perspectives than most these days.

But mostly I subscribe for the leaks.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/12/2020 22:28

I can't believe it's just going to be more tier 4 areas, I just don't think these tiers are working. I'm in tier 2, and today had people on holiday from tier 3 visiting the shop I work in (I know because they told me).

Bathroom12345 · 22/12/2020 22:28

Gov need to announce if more Pfizer vaccines have arrived. They have 800k and have vaccinated 500k. If there is a supply issue they need to tell us.

Where is the Oxford vaccine. I know, I know 28 December but what is the difference between tomorrow and 28. It would give everyone a massive boost. Otherwise we feel like we are in a black abyss

Smallgoon · 22/12/2020 22:29

that he's stepping down hopefully...

PigletJohn · 22/12/2020 22:29

Leaks from Downing Street are deliberate, to test the water and see how they are received.

Sometimes they deliberately leak a false story (e.g. "bread will be rationed from tomorrow") so that the real story (bread will be in short supply) looks like good news.

Bathroom12345 · 22/12/2020 22:32

Did you see the news with that silly bint at the zoo stating that there was nothing to do in Manchester and after all it’s Christmas as her reason for travelling to a lower tier.

Parker231 · 22/12/2020 22:35

www.walesonline.co.uk/news/uk-news/44-parts-england-risk-going-19502245.amp

Areas most a risk of going into tier 4.

RememberSelfCompassion · 22/12/2020 22:39

Whats the difference between tier 4 and lockdown (I'm in a tier 2 that I imagine will change)

Randomrebel · 22/12/2020 22:42

Not sure maybe just a different name. We are still tier two but have a feeling that may change if the yellow circles are anything to go by.
