What do you think Boris is going to announce tomorrow? Is he going to announce a full lockdown the day before Christmas Eve?

@Frankly321

Hopefully Boris and co will implement a tough proper lockdown for the first time. Right through till Easter in order to save lives and protect the NHS.

No one leaves home unless they are a genuine key worker. Supermarkets closed with the army delivering food parcels. No construction or manufacturing.

No one goes out for walks or to the park.

Army on the streets issuing £5000 fines to non key workers seen out. Straight to prison for treat offenders.

It worked fine in China so unfortunately you may be right. Unfortunately the British public and some politicians are proving incapable of following the rules. I was a great libertarian before this crisis however the last 9 months have shown the British public can be very selfish and self centred and all about "my rights" rather than collective responsibility.

More areas into tier 4 from Boxing Day adding to those which already are.

In southeast England: London, Kent, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey (excluding Waverley), Gosport, Havant, Portsmouth, Rother and Hastings
In eastern England: Bedford, Central Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton, Peterborough, Hertfordshire and Essex (excluding Colchester, Uttlesford and Tendring).

@Parker231 did he mention Sussex? I thought he did but obviously the gov website won’t be updated yet

nickyschof · 23/12/2020 15:30

A third variant of covid had been found...even more transmissible than the second 😒.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 23/12/2020 15:31

Yes he said Sussex.

Parker231 · 23/12/2020 15:32

@Ilovemycat13 - Sky News have updated

Health secretary Matt Hancock has announced that Essex, Norfolk, Sussex, Surrey, Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire and Hampshire will enter tier 4 restrictions from Boxing Day

Parker231 · 23/12/2020 15:33

Cheshire and Warrington to move from tier 2 to 3.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 23/12/2020 15:46

@nickyschof yes i read that apparently poss from SA
The whole world needs to stop non essential travel until each country gets on top if this surely

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 23/12/2020 15:48

I am in somerset we are moving to tier 3 , no real surprise there though
Can see another lockdown coming unless these tiers begin to work
Missed the bit on schools ?

the infections map is getting very dark

the darkest section shows areas with 800 or more positive cases per hundred thousand.

Since not all infected cases get tested, it may well be that they contain a thousand cases per hundred thousand inhabitants

i.e. a 1 in a 100 frequency.

which is startling.

It gets worse and worse and worse. What's the point of easing restrictions just to bring more in a few days later. People are going to stop listening.
