What do you think Boris is going to announce tomorrow? Is he going to announce a full lockdown the day before Christmas Eve?

No chance while you can still buy booze

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 22/12/2020 21:21

I don’t know anyone about to get involved in civil unrest.

I’d protest about Boris the knob though!

SakiSiam · 22/12/2020 21:21

Is Schitts Creek netflix? Heard a lot about it but not been able to watch it. I do think the advice to find some easy viewing that doesn't require any thinking is good. A couple of years ago I got into Bargain Hunt, Homes Under the Hammer, and David Dickinson's Real Deal (programmes I'd never watched before) when I couldn't get off the sofa due to grief. I'm obsessed with news, print press and online, and television, but it certainly doesn't help my mental health. The above mentioned programmes take me away from that.

I've also found that writing my thoughts down makes a big difference, particularly if it's likely no-one will read them.

@Arseinthecoopwindow yes exactly a lot were and it's not like a majority of us have that many rights as it is
And people on other threads are moaning at those breaking rules
Then on other threads saying we shouldn't have restrictions etc
Its making everyone very divided

Impatiens · 22/12/2020 21:23

If they're going to lockdown they should do it right now instead of waiting til half the country has got together for xmas day. I'm so SICK of this negligent government.

Lostinacloud · 22/12/2020 21:24

I wish Albert Einstein was still around to take over Chris Witty’s job. Maybe then we wouldn’t keep going in and out of lockdowns to try and suppress a microscopic virus who’s only role in life is to spread from host to host. Seemingly it’s recently managed to bypass all our social distancing, screens, one way systems and masks so time for a new approach perhaps? An approach that doesn’t see the quarantining of healthy people, the closure of whole industries, the loss of stable education, employment and mental health.

@nosswith

More tier 4 areas are coming I am sure. Just a case of where and when. Announcing them tomorrow especially for Hampshire which should have joined Portsmouth/Gosport (as the token member of the public queried yesterday) would not be a surprise.

At least St Peter has one simple decision when the time comes.

Why though? Where I am in Hants, no where near Portsmouth, our case rate is well under 100 per 100,000. It’s so far below the U.K. average that it barely registers.
EmmanuelleMakro · 22/12/2020 21:26

@Impatiens
Completely agree.
More incompetent than the most incompetent people in Incompetent Street, IncompetentTown, IncompetentShire, Incompetentland.

MarshaBradyo · 22/12/2020 21:27

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

But there’s a horrible thread going off on here from people who vehemently oppose another lockdown. The anger in it was scary.
Do you mean the collectively insane one? I didn’t think it was angry. But maybe you mean another one.
Viviennemary · 22/12/2020 21:28

Rumour seems to be many areas going into tier 4 on 26th December. Who knows

MarshaBradyo · 22/12/2020 21:28

I don’t think there will be civil unrest either

I don’t get the wait while a new strain is circulating. If they’re going to do it anyway.

TheOtherMaryBerry · 22/12/2020 21:29

A couple of years ago I got into Bargain Hunt, Homes Under the Hammer, and David Dickinson's Real Deal

I would also say antiques road trip. It's like a sort of comfort blanket for DH and I. Nice market towns and pleasant people. Just anything that's calming.
kittensarecute so much love to you, you're not alone in how you feel and I don't think that Mumsnet necessarily reflects that. Things will get better, this is the (awful) darkness before the dawn.

PinkSpring · 22/12/2020 21:31

Not another one - for fuck sake. I am sick of this now.

We are Tier 2 but the fuckers from London/Kent are coming to their holiday homes and bringing it with them. We had one of the lowest rates in the country until recently.

I am not doing a full lockdown again, I can't do it again.

PilatesPeach · 22/12/2020 21:33

If you are already in tier 4 it is not such a big deal obviously.

Cheeseboardandmincepies · 22/12/2020 21:34

If they shut the schools, I’m getting on that dingy boat and going to France for asylum. (Just a joke before anyone cries.)
But please god don’t let them shut the schools, my mental health can’t take that again.

RedToothBrush · 22/12/2020 21:39

There will be chaos if its t4 everywhere before Friday with an announcement as late as tomorrow.

Do you have space on that dingy for another please?
TheDailyMailIsAFilthyRag · 22/12/2020 21:40

Can I also book a space on the dingy please and thank you? I speak French, so I might be useful.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 22/12/2020 21:41

As long as you don’t try and get in through Calais.... borders currently closed.

designmama · 22/12/2020 21:42

I have to agree 😩

You should squeeze some Monkfish on that dingy and start a new life.

2021 is cancelled

PilatesPeach · 22/12/2020 21:46

I meant for those of us already in tier 4 it won't be a big deal as it won't change anything for US - some of us were tier 2 last week, spent one day in tier 3 then straight into tier 4.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/12/2020 21:46

@SakiSiam we watch Schitts Creek on All4 but I think it is on Netflix too. You need to watch a few episodes before you get into it
