Boris announcement

What do you think Boris is going to announce tomorrow? Is he going to announce a full lockdown the day before Christmas Eve?

OP posts:
NetballHoop · 22/12/2020 20:54

Maybe he'll resign? That would bring a bit of Christmas cheer to the nation.

Mind you, we'd then be left with the misery of trying to find a new leader from the cesspit of arses in Westminster.

There are very very few people I would wish bad fortune on. Mr Johnson is top of the list. He has caused more damage to this country than even Mr Trump has done to the US.

willsantausesantatize · 22/12/2020 20:55

@wanderings

The word "plunged" is overused.

Is someone writing Boris's resignation speech? Is the Queen about to give him his marching orders? Or is that too much to hope for?

Nah, just more misery to come.
Unsure33 · 22/12/2020 20:55

@willsantausesantatize

You do realise the state of his hair is genetic. If you said that to certain other sections of society you would be racist.

yearinyearout · 22/12/2020 20:55

He can just fuck right off to be honest. I'm sick of his stupid hair and bullshit.

willsantausesantatize · 22/12/2020 20:56

His hair is falling out. It's all the stress probably.

Goatscheesewithhoney · 22/12/2020 20:57

@kittensarecute - Keep your support bubble no matter what restrictions are. If you are in crisis, you can go to another person to seek support and so you have a safe space. And of your dad is not available then you can go to another family member of friend to keep yourself safe. This has always been the case even in the first lockdown and it is awful that people who were suicidal stayed at home alone because they were too scared to break what they thought were the rules.

If Cummings was fine to drive across the country, you are fine to go to a family member or have a family member come to you if are having thoughts of suicide Flowers

medusawashere · 22/12/2020 20:58

It's so scary. This may be controversial (and I really don't want to upset anyone) but there are no half measures with Covid. The virus isn't going to take a day off. It doesn't give a shiny shite that it's Christmas Day. You're just going to get a load of people travelling out of county at silly o'clock Christmas morning and then back in the evening. I think it's a terrible idea. The best thing they could have done (if they're THAT set on the idea that the virus is super deadly and transmissable) is tell everyone to stay at home this Christmas - Except established support bubbles, of course.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 22/12/2020 20:58

Someone on her yesterday referred to his hair as a dandelion clock with pomade😂

Yeah full lockdown l think.

It’s really not. He looks tidy when he has it cut shorter. I’ve also heard he messes it up deliberately as part of his ‘look’.

yearinyearout · 22/12/2020 20:59

No it isn't 😂 he has a deliberately shit haircut and I've seen footage of him deliberately ruffling it in all directions before doing on camera in order to look like an affable buffoon.

Makingnumber2 · 22/12/2020 20:59

@kittensarecute Flowers I know it all feels bleaker than bleak at the moment but there is absolutely light at the end of the tunnel. Talk to friends and family, take each day an hour at a time if you need to and remember (in words of Florence and the machine) it’s always darkest before the dawn.

MadameButterface · 22/12/2020 20:59

@ineedaholidaynow

I would second watching Schitts Creek for escapism
Thirded
OrangeBananaFish · 22/12/2020 21:00

I'm watching the Gilmore Girls for escapism.

Kittens I have seen you on other threads too. TBH I think you need a MN break. Lots of doom and gloom on here.

medusawashere · 22/12/2020 21:00

@kittensarecute I'm so sorry that you feel this way. Definitely keep seeing the family members in your bubble. You know you can also talk to us if you're having dark thoughts. Mumsnet was a lifesaver for me through a terrible breakup where I was suicidal and I'll never forget the help and advice that came my way.

PortiasPlumUpduffedPudding · 22/12/2020 21:01

He is not an affable buffoon he's just a scheming twat!

RichardMarxisinnocent · 22/12/2020 21:01

Support bubbles have been there from the start . They won’t go
I agree that they won't go, but it's incorrect to say they've been there from the start. They started on June 13th. From 23rd March to 12th June I didn't go within 2m of another human being, and spent the vast majority of my time alone in my flat.

Clawdy · 22/12/2020 21:01

The colour of his hair may be genetic, but the style certainly isn't! My BIL went to a meeting with him years ago, and his hair was flattish, but as he walked out to meet photographers, he ruffled his hair up.....It fits with his image I guess.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 22/12/2020 21:01

He will definitely resign once no deal Brexit it is done. Not before. Then he's offski to live on the money he's making from his superrich pals.

It will be T4 all over. Schools will close but we won't be told that till w/b 4 Jan.

ilovesooty · 22/12/2020 21:02

@Unsure33

Support bubbles have been there from the start . They won’t go .

But I think it might be full lockdown . Makes sense while schools are off . Wales especially are in big trouble ( not boris fault) the army are in .

I'm sure there weren't support bubbles in the first lockdown. Not at first anyway.
willsantausesantatize · 22/12/2020 21:03

The army are in wales?

Thismustbelove · 22/12/2020 21:04

The Irish Gov has announced Ireland is going into lockdown from Christmas Eve until Jan 12th.

Travel restrictions from UK to remain until at least 31st Dec.

There are rumours that lockdown will extend to the end of Feb.

raffle · 22/12/2020 21:04

@Unsure33 is it?

Frazzled2207 · 22/12/2020 21:04

@willsantausesantatize

The army are in wales?
Yes, some of them helping with ambulances in particular as so many off sick and so many people are calling them. This was several weeks ago but my aunt had a heart attack and was in an ambulance outside the hospital for 6h before being allowed in.
Crazycatlady83 · 22/12/2020 21:05

@Unsure33

I wouldn’t have sat on my arse for the last 9 months and suddenly be surprised when the shit hits the fan come flu season!

I would enact proper support for people most vulnerable and the elderly so they can properly shield. I would ensure people stayed at home for the full isolation period when they had received a positive test. Not fines if they leave the house with threats of the police but proper benefits for people to ensure they can still feed their families and pay their bills.

I wouldn’t have scared the public absolutely senseless for a disease most will get mild symptoms (a massively unpopular view on MN - I’ll have the world shouting “long covid” within about 3.5 seconds)

Now BJ only option is to ramp up vaccinations before he completely destroys the economy so much so that we won’t be able to afford the NHS after all this mess has finished (our national debt is currently 97.5% of our GDP)

Quite frankly, I’m not scared of the virus (don’t know anyone that’s had it), I can see compliance is way down (from normally law abiding socially conscious people) They have had enough of a virus that probably won’t effect them, they want to pay their bills, see their family and live their lives.
