I just watched the clip and I thought rather then crying it looked like he was laughing. Anyone else think it was weird. I was expecting him to be quietly emotional after this shit show of a year But no, it looked like he was covering up the giggles. Anyone else think this or am I on my own.

This really does bring out the worst in the left. Talking about pushing him down the stairs, saying he has killed over 60,000 people. Dont be so daft. The virus did this. The left were trashed at the last election. They still cannot get over it. Their leader Corybyn has destroyed Labour for a generation and Captain Hindsight is not the answer to their prayers.

Lets call out the people old and young who are crowding into each others houses. Who have illegal raves, who try and storm into Harrods. Who think the rules, SD and no mixing of households is not for them.

And then to top it all they are not that keen to have a vaccine. That's fine - it will never become mandatory in the UK but I dont want you anywhere near me. You will probably be restricted on international travel and will complain constantly re your Human Rights. Well tough.

Despite his high profile/high responsibility job

He’s done a pretty shit job.

Baaaahhhhh · 09/12/2020 10:44

It's a shit job that nobody wants... this is a great article, bit long, but very enlightening:

www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/may/17/whod-be-a-health-secretary-five-former-incumbents-on-the-toughest-gig-in-politics

A widespread wariness about the job was most memorably captured in the response of the pugnacious Labour politician John Reid when appointed in 2003 by Tony Blair. “Oh fuck,” he’s supposed to have said, “not health.”

ParlezVousWronglais · 09/12/2020 10:48

Yes difficult job. But that doesn’t explain why we have one of the worst COVID death rates in the world, and THE worst out of 21 countries.

We have a terrible death toll much worse than comparable countries. This government is directly accountable for that. They are in power and they made the decisions. Unfortunately. (I didn't vote for either Boris or Corbyn).

This situation really does bring out the gibberish in some people. Let's keep the discussion focussed on Hancock, his performance or lack of it, and his choice of cronies for key roles they can't fulfill.

Well done to the international research teams that are getting the vaccines out, though. They are the real heroes of the hour. Amazing work.

It's a shit job that nobody wants How come he's doing it then? Did the Godfather make him an offer he couldn't refuse? Did he wake up with a horses head in his bed? Somehow I think he was keen to do the job but isn't so keen now, bit like Johnson.

How come he's doing it then

It was a piece of piss when he took it on. Privatise as much as you can, cut all the budgets, turn up once in a blue moon for a photo op, pat yourself on the back.

Now he’s got a massive public health crisis on his hands which would test the most competent public servant, which he probably isn’t.

Potager · 10/12/2020 14:55

@OnlyTeaForMe

I genuinely think he is knackered and it was a moment of relief and emotion that finally there may be an end in sight to this nightmare.

I don't tend to buy into all this hate for ministers just because I may not share their politics. I suspect whichever party was in power, there would have been mistakes, criticisms, and sadly, lives lost. At the end of the day, many of them are humans just like us, and subject to the same emotions.

Many of them are humans?? What about the rest of them? LolConfused

Freshprincess it is a "be careful what you wish for" thing isn't it. He obviously did want the job but he didn't realise what the job could involve.
