Matt Hancock Crying

I just watched the clip and I thought rather then crying it looked like he was laughing. Anyone else think it was weird. I was expecting him to be quietly emotional after this shit show of a year But no, it looked like he was covering up the giggles. Anyone else think this or am I on my own.

OP posts:
Unsure33 · 08/12/2020 18:15

I think it was just a mixed emotion reaction .

And I think some of the headlines and comments are very bullying.

What sort of example do we set to our children

He is still a human being .

Unsure33 · 08/12/2020 18:16

@Userzzz

And I think you are a nasty person . I can tell by your post .

Does that make it true ?

LindaEllen · 08/12/2020 18:16

@knittingaddict

Perhaps he does the half laugh, half sob thing I do when very upset. Did it while the vet was putting my dog to sleep. Hugely embarrassing, but I was definitely upset and not finding it hysterically funny.
My first reaction is always to laugh when I get told someone has died. It's a horrific reaction! (I do go on to feel the correct emotion shortly afterwards, though!)
Unsure33 · 08/12/2020 18:19

@HighHeelBoots

If you are going to get up on your platform at least get your facts right .

We don’t have the most deaths per 100000 capita in Europe .

Ridcully82 · 08/12/2020 18:19

If you did your best in worst pandemic in living memory (whatever mistakes you made,you did your best) and you're in charge of the nation's health and social care,and trying to fight your corner when some colleagues didn't want to take the steps your experts said,and lost a family member,and been ill yourself,and still had to know 60,000 + people died above average despite your best efforts,I think you're allowed a moment of bloody hysteria,and as he's a cabinet minster who gets interviewed about this,it's not surprising it's come out on camera.

Ravenesque · 08/12/2020 18:21

I thought it was one of the fakest things I've ever seen.

Billie18 · 08/12/2020 18:21

Hmm. Laughing not crying...

ancientgran · 08/12/2020 18:22

And he's just lost family to Covid and got emotional in parliament in last week. He's worked so hard for this moment. Although he keeps telling us about working 24/7 I think he actually has one or two people to help him.

Unsure33 · 08/12/2020 18:23

@Ridcully82

Exactly . Well said .

Unsure33 · 08/12/2020 18:25

@Ravenesque

So why was he trying to fake crying by laughing. ?

It was just an emotional reaction . He never said he was crying I think it just took him by surprise , exhaustion for everything past and joy hopefully for what is to come .

tsmainsqueeze · 08/12/2020 18:26

@SandrasAnnoyingFriend

Gosh I just saw it as hugely insincere. It was odd and didn't ring true. Not because of how I feel about him or the vaccine, because he just came across very strangely!
This is exactly how i felt too .
Unsure33 · 08/12/2020 18:27

@ancientgran

I think he has also had a lot of people feeding him a lot of false information that he relies on . It is not all down to him.

Hapixmas · 08/12/2020 18:27

I laughed uncontrollably when I found out a relative had done something bad enough to end up in jail. Whilst the whole room cried. It was not what I wanted to happen, I was angry and upset. But my body has a weird reaction thing where I laugh in sad/ awkward situations. I ended up Googling it after as I was worried but turns out it is normal.

ancientgran · 08/12/2020 18:28

Unfortunately as Minister of Health it is all down to him.

x2boys · 08/12/2020 18:28

Hasnt he just lost his step Grand Father to COViD ,? So you know he might be feeling a bit emotional about it , particularly now there are vaccines available ,and it looks like things might start getting back to normal in the next six months or so.

derxa · 08/12/2020 18:28

@PrincessNutNuts

This made me snort:
Really? How nasty
Unsure33 · 08/12/2020 18:30

@Returnofthemaccys

You too are WRONG . Check your facts

And it is the virus that killed people so perhaps you might re-consider your wording .

Unsure33 · 08/12/2020 18:32

@ancientgran

Never watched yes minister then ?

Do you think he does not have a team behind him . No human being is capable of dealing with this pandemic on their own .

Use some common sense .

Andante57 · 08/12/2020 18:32

If he isn’t, please let me be the first one to give him a gentle push onto buttered stairs

Centrifugal - so if he isn’t you want him to fall down the stairs? How badly are you hoping he will be hurt?

ItRubsTheLotionOnItsSkin · 08/12/2020 18:34

Oh yes Matt Hancock. Leaving aside the "handling" of this particular crisis, (although anyone suffering with side or after effects of CV may particularly find this useful) - perhaps a reminder of what kind of politician/person he is would be useful.

https://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/24773/matthewhancock/westt_suffolk/votes

In regards to coronavirus, I think there is going to be a fucking huge backlash about (as PP said) about certain very unpleasant aspects of this crisis - the scandals of lack of/supply of PPE, awarding contracts to friends etc. Matt Hancock is a huge part of that and I sincerely hope people realise what and who it is (along with other members of the government).

Anyone applauding him, is applauding this behaviour and it is sickening.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 08/12/2020 18:35

@VinylDetective

You know that saying about not knowing whether to laugh or cry? He epitomised it. It was one of the most honest and human responses I’ve ever seen a politician make. I detest this government and everyone in it but Hancock earned my grudging respect when I saw that.
Same here Vinyl. It looked like he got caught up in a wave of different emotions, hence the laugh and cry.
ItRubsTheLotionOnItsSkin · 08/12/2020 18:36

And @PrincessNutNuts what the fuck is wrong with you, to post horrific stuff like that?

SewingBeeAddict · 08/12/2020 18:36

Ive watched it several times and he was laughing that the man was called William Shakespeare but trying to cover it up.

ssd · 08/12/2020 18:37

Dh thought he was laughing too.

All the way to the bank probably.

Riapia · 08/12/2020 18:47

Ah MN at it’s finest.
