@LolalovesLondon

I know the schools won’t close but will parents send their DC in?
Some will not, but I think it would be less than in March. At my DC's school already about 50% were not in by the time they announced. Not the case this time.

Lockdown only works if

 1. People comply; or
 2. The army shoots the people into compliance.

(2) is unlikely, so do (1) and lockdown doesn't happen.

I'm not doing it again.

dollychopss · 31/10/2020 13:46

@Devilesko

Schools may close with the announcement being today. We can live in hope I suppose. Angry because they probably won't.
Are you kidding my little 6 year old doing so much better going to school and my mental health will not cope !! Home schooling a 6 year old looking after a 2 year old and working all in my own !
Iwantacookie · 31/10/2020 13:46

I feel like were doing the hokey cokey in lockdown out of lockdown shake it all about.
If its anything like the last time boris spoke itll give us more questions than it answers.

Jrobhatch29 · 31/10/2020 13:46

@Delta1

He'd better be dressed up, that's all I'm saying... 🧙‍♀️
Hilarious. Thanks for that laugh!
JacobReesMogadishu · 31/10/2020 13:47

It’s the not knowing which is upsetting me more, dragging it out. I feel quite tearful and anxious and sick now and I’m not normally like this. My mum died this morning though so I’m not in the best place I guess.

DuncinToffee · 31/10/2020 13:47

Press conference will now be at 5pm, not 4

LolalovesLondon · 31/10/2020 13:47

Dopeyduck
They’ll be a pregnancy announcement early January. You mark my words! 😂

1dayatatime · 31/10/2020 13:48

I hope it's a national lockdown because doing exactly the same thing in autumn as we did in spring will definitely produce different results (heavy tone of sarcasm). Complete madness.

dingit · 31/10/2020 13:49
@frustrationcentral I was thinking more Grotbags .... !
Boris dressed as Grotbags 😂
I can SO visualise that

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 31/10/2020 13:49

Yes can’t wait to see him dressed as a pumpkin or will he have gone with the grim reaper costume to strengthen his message?

Parker231 · 31/10/2020 13:49

Apparently news gets leaked so that government get an idea of public opinion before they make the official announcement.

Oh I hope so.

Imagine him saying that everything is shutting or something with a fake nose on.

Polkadotties · 31/10/2020 13:51

I just don’t see what a lockdown will achieve if schools are still functioning as they currently are.

Jourdain11 · 31/10/2020 13:51

The issue with schools closure is that it is so difficult for many parents to provide education.

My kids are Y4, Y3 and Y1. They all would have different work and they would all require some level of support. I'm supposed to be working and it's work that has to take place within certain hours, as a lot of it will be telephone contact. DH will no doubt be in school for key workers' children. So they end up missing out Confused. I would not mind for a few weeks, but not if it is open ended.

Laughed out loud at this
BlueBrian · 31/10/2020 13:52

@CoronaIsWatching

If you look on the Daily Mail online comments, they're calling on people to take to the streets and not comply, and the comments have massive upvotes.
Yeah, the zimmer frame army taking to the streets, doubt if it's actually going to happen.
draughtycatflap · 31/10/2020 13:54

I guess those Tory spies that pretend to be regular mums on here have reported back the rising fury with Boris De Wankmuppet.

SilkieRabbits · 31/10/2020 13:55

Do you think Boris is now going trick-or-treating between 4pm and 5pm now Grin

Doesn't sound shambolic at all.

GhostsUpMePosts · 31/10/2020 13:55

@Chloemol

Whoever leaked it needs finding and removed. It’s led to lots of anger and angst and unnecessary speculation
No way that will happen. The leak was official - it has all the hallmarks - but there has been such a back lash to the fact that it was leaked that now those at the top have to pretent they didn't want it leaked.

It's all about image and self preservation.

No actual substance to the curren government at all.

Shitfuckoh · 31/10/2020 13:55

I'm half & half regarding schools.
I can't see how things will change if schools are all kept open.
On the other hand (selfishly) my eldest is due to go back Monday after his school closed due to an outbreak the week before half term. He knows he's going back Monday & he doesn't handle change well (ASD).
Although after the issue with his school closing & my 3yr old (and myself basically) needing to isolate due to an outbreak at preschool, I don't think schools can keep going as they are. Something needs to give, is a lockdown with schools open enough? I don't know.
