By "work" travel, they mean wealthy businessmen. Not you. Work meeting in val d'isere, anyone?

Yep @PicsInRed
It's not essential travel is it.

Wrt the French rules. We're already getting threads here asking if people will comply. Non compliance is one of the reasons it drags out. Let's hope people don't abuse our system.

Mishmased · 31/10/2020 20:36

@JacobReesMogadishu

It’s the not knowing which is upsetting me more, dragging it out. I feel quite tearful and anxious and sick now and I’m not normally like this. My mum died this morning though so I’m not in the best place I guess.
So sorry for your loss ThanksThanks
notimagain · 31/10/2020 20:54

The French approach is probably better.

The French attestation system didn't stop the micky taking over restrictions but they made you think about exactly why you were going out of the door..

It possibly also helped.. just a bit Wink.. that the government could and did deploy best part of 100,000 Gendarmes and police to monitor this..there was a fair chance that you would be stopped when driving, walking or running and asked to produce the form..

....And then the politicians went and blew away all the hard work by encouraging people to go on holiday Angry

Yep.

I said it earlier but it's so frustrating.
It would've been so much cheaper if we'd restricted the borders at the start and given the travel industry a financial support package. Instead of extended furlough - including the millions wasted on fraud (or is it billions?), EOTHO, etc.

@Mrsemcgregor

Philip Schofield came out quicker than this.
😂😂😂😂😭

This is going to last much longer than a month , with schools etc being left open.

Goes without saying but look what happened when they closed!
‘Those lazy, good for nothing teachers and their unions causing the economy to collapse’!
Who will everyone blame now?

I also agree with this:
I am a teacher and would MUCH rather be in school teaching my class than preside over the car crash of inequality which is access to online learning.

Othering · 31/10/2020 21:43

@Sweetchillijam

I am not a bojo fan by any means but he sounded a bit more proficient tonight so he’s obviously been practicing (which was probably why he was so late out).
We said the same. He was almost an approximation of a prime minister tonight.

@Chickenandrice

Hairdressers?
According to the uk gov website hairdressers, nail places, beauticians etc all have to close

Also I was shocked to see no weddings allowed

Chickenandrice · 31/10/2020 21:55

It is quite a strict lockdown then. I hope it works

It really isn’t and it won’t.
