@JacobReesMogadishu

It’s the not knowing which is upsetting me more, dragging it out. I feel quite tearful and anxious and sick now and I’m not normally like this. My mum died this morning though so I’m not in the best place I guess.
So sorry to hear this @JacobReesMogadishu Flowers Do you have someone with you now?
JacobReesMogadishu · 31/10/2020 14:22

Yes, dh is here thanks. I’m seeing friends later.

Hmmph · 31/10/2020 14:24

@JacobReesMogadishu I am so truly sorry for you. I have lost one of my parents and it is absolutely horrible. I can’t imagine how extra horrible it must be with a potential lockdown which may or may not happen hanging over you. I know I’m a stranger on the internet, but I’m thinking of you Flowers.

You poor love, I hope you have some support with you?

My mum died very suddenly a few weeks ago and grieving in covod times is hard. I couldn't be with my family (all separate households) funeral numbers are limited and there is virtually no scope for a wake / commemoration. We bent a few rules because we needed to be together.

There is a lovely thread in the bereavement section, if you fancy a chat or just a handhold. Flowers

He's just rung Nicola and the Welsh one for advice.

Emmie12345 · 31/10/2020 14:28

So ridiculous to expect young people to put their lives on hold .my dp son has it at mo and it’s literally just a sodding cold

knittingaddict · 31/10/2020 14:30

It had better not be some kind of wishy washy pep talk. Angry

It's no fun to be told that another lock down is happening, but I'd rather that than a week of speculation and uncertainty.

But it's not a cold for everyone. 28 year old friend here, no prior health issues has been left with lung damage - looking like it's long term too.
the80sweregreat · 31/10/2020 14:34

I'm really on the fence about another lockdown. I've known of three deaths from covid so I'm not a denier at all , but I am concerned about the economy and people's mental health and just how they can pay for all this. Hospitality and retail are the backbone of a working economy for the NHS and schools. Without people working there won't be any public services.
I honestly can see all sides , but it is worrying and whatever they do will not please everyone of course.
Scientists and politicians are paid regardless. It'll cause a shed load of problems. What can they do realistically?

Chickenandrice · 31/10/2020 14:38

Surely he will be announcing something substantial if he has Whitty and valance with him because they have made their feelings on the matter well known

Not for everyone, that sort of selfish idiocy isnt going to help

Well that's ok then. Because it’s not like it’s contagious or anything, or dangerous to older people, people with pre existing health conditions, people going through chemo...
Ohfrigginghellers · 31/10/2020 14:46

Maybe he should wear his clown costume.

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 31/10/2020 14:47

@Jourdain11 from the papers it looks like Voldemort Cummings might still have a few questions to answer on his movements based on car registration data and phone records. Slippery shit that he is.

MrsKingfisher · 31/10/2020 14:47

@Madcats

I think they should simply rename the Houses of Parliament "The Leaky Cauldron" and have done with it.

This is brilliant and I will now forever call it the leaky cauldron Grin

Maybe you should tell Derek Draper that!
EstuaryBird · 31/10/2020 14:49

@NorthGirl2

I really hope it isn't as dramatic a lockdown as the first time. I live in an area with very few cases and surely it makes more sense to do local lockdowns where the numbers are high and offer those areas more economic support. Locking the whole country down seems to be a bit 'misery loves company' tbh.
The trouble with local lockdowns is that people in Tier 3 bugger off to stay with people in Tier 1.

OK maybe not everyone but last night my neighbour’s brother, SiL, Auntie and 2 children turned up to stay for a while......they should be in Bradford, which I understand is due to go Tier 3 In a day or so?

None of my business and I don’t do ‘reporting‘ but I’m a bit pissed off tbh.

Anyway, this is one reason why local lockdowns will never work 🤷🏻‍♀️.

kirinm · 31/10/2020 14:50

Oh FFS, teaching unions calling for schools to close. Fuck this.

Oh right so the 45,000 that have died haven't actually died then? Who knew.
JamminDoughnuts · 31/10/2020 14:57

5,00 pm now, for the er um

islockdownoveryet · 31/10/2020 14:57

Oh ffs 🤦‍♀️ mind you glad it's today , just got a letter from work about the new job support scheme as the industry I'm in has ground to a halt they may as well shut down .
Schools I'm on still on the fence as I would like to keep my dc in school as long as possible but I do think they are one of the main causes of spreading .
If it's a 1 month lockdown and no more then it's doable but with Christmas coming it's the most profitable time of year for a lot of places it would be madness to shut in December.
