London Tier 2 Lockdown?

daily fail link

This sounds pretty definite (yet another leak) - so no mixing of households inside at all from today in London?

RedMarauder · 12/10/2020 14:04

@Devlesko the leaks are deliberate and the Mayor supports the restrictions anyway as he wants the number of cases to go down.

IamPickleRick · 12/10/2020 14:08

I live 1/4 mile from the London border in Hertfordshire. My kids go to school in London. I don’t know how this will work for me. Confused

Humptytheboiledegg · 12/10/2020 14:09

Just announced Manchester will be in Tier 2 so it seems surprising London will be Tier 2 too... but likely perhaps considering the number of leaks saying the same thing.

myhobbyisouting · 12/10/2020 14:12

@Humptytheboiledegg who has just announced that?

myhobbyisouting · 12/10/2020 14:13

Johnson isn't addressing the commons until 3.30

Nousernameforme · 12/10/2020 14:15

From whats been hinted at recently then anywhere with 100+ per 100,000 is tier 2. You only go up to tier 3 if it's deemed to be growing at an uncontrollable rate.

You can check your areas number here if you want.

Red

I know, you know, but some people do believe it's actually leaked and we shouldn't know Grin

(Council leaders told, who told the papers I guess)

I wonder if it will affect us going on holiday from
London to Cornwall

With another family in half term Sad

myhobbyisouting · 12/10/2020 14:19

That's not an announcement

Humptytheboiledegg · 12/10/2020 14:24

@myhobbyisouting

Yes ok sorry ‘reported’. But I don’t think council leaders are going to be making things up and telling the guardian! Reliable source I would say. Most of it gets leaked before the official announcement tbh but you can always wait for that if you prefer (personally I can’t stand watching BJ even for five seconds) Confused

The mayor has said several times now that he wants restrictions before case numbers accelerate.

And that London will be treated as a whole, as it is so interlinked. Though we have yet to hear how it will be defined (whole boroughs or M25, or something else)

If I were you, I'd be working on a Plan B.
DramaLlama12 · 12/10/2020 14:28

I live in tier 3 ( based on being under 100 cases per hundred thousand) but work in the neighbouring borough that has 106 cases per 100,000 , (so I’ll assume that’s tier2 ) I work for the leisure industry, this will be interesting if I have to work more locally and not enter the neighbouring borough
I think we can speculate at the moment but won’t be certain until boris comes on at 3.30pm
I was in the pub Saturday , it was rammed , but socially distanced , however I was asked to give my details to track and trace which I did , I put Tyrone down and the fella behind me picked it up to write with it ... I went to the toilet as we were leaving and a woman followed behind me , my point being , touch points there was 1 member of staff on the floor taking orders , no one going around cleaning handles and touch points , the table just down below got up, and the next lot sat , no cleaning at all going on . They were seating and taking orders that was all

DramaLlama12 · 12/10/2020 14:28

I put The pen down , not Tyrone 😳

LaurieFairyCake · 12/10/2020 14:39

JamieLeeCurtains

Plan B is to scream!!! 😱 I'm going to be apoplectic if we can't go

Our only holiday of the year - all other holidays cancelled including a huge family weekend away. I've not had one day off all year and practically been isolating for 6 months (work in mental health). Same as Dh - he's a teacher who worked through Easter/May half term and most of the summer setting up half a dozen plans for September

It's so shit !!!

ajandjjmum · 12/10/2020 14:42

We are adjacent to an area of high infection, although not strictly speaking part of it - we pay our rates to a different council! But I think it would be irresponsible to take advantage of that - we are treating it as though we are also in the lockdown area.

Can't believe the number of people who are manipulating situations to their own benefit - whilst others are making their lives a misery, trying to comply.

Surely there has to be a mid-way?

I was wondering how Tyrone felt about being dumped! Grin
JamieLeeCurtains · 12/10/2020 14:44

Laurie I'm going to be watching parliament at 3.30, I'd like to know what the rules are going to be, too, and where. I'd particularly like to see my DD more than once this year, or yes there will be 😱😱

Are you travelling down in separate vehicles?

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 12/10/2020 14:51

Im wondering if it will affect thise of us visiting london too

My area has just lept to over 100 but wasnt a few days ago. So wondering if that will put us into tier 2.

I do wonder if all the "leaked" ideas are worse than they're planninv so we all go, "oh thats not so bad after all."

LaurieFairyCake · 12/10/2020 14:56

Yes, separate vehicles - do you think that will make a difference?

Both families live in London

ImSleepingBeauty · 12/10/2020 14:59

We live in a London borough with low numbers but fully expect to be put into tier 2.

This will mean not being able to see our elderly parents inside for God knows how long. With this shitty weather it'll likely be a quick wave through the window once a week.

We will comply as both sets of parents are elderly but I wouldn’t blame those who don’t.

Humptytheboiledegg · 12/10/2020 15:39

Latest speculation is that London will start at Tier 1 before moving to Tier 2 this week - so a few days to adjust I guess
