I’ve got my Christmas slot on the 22nd can’t order any actual useful food because it’s still OOS. Bastards.

Next slot they will give me is the 2nd Jan. FFS

978 posts!

There will be a new one, won't there?

(How else would I remember to check the Ocado site at opportune moments?)

Plus, there's that thing happening in January ...

lexloofah · 12/12/2020 10:03

That thing in Jan is why I still have my Christmas week slot, it doesn't have much Christmas stuff, only pate and salmon I think, the rest is our normal weekly stuff as don't want to skip a week, esp of fresh stuff.

I have got lots of lovely Christmas stuff with decent dates from Aldi & Lidl which is where I used to shop regularly. Ocado just handy for school holidays and isolating. It paid off last week as I was unexpectedly in hospital so one less thing for DH to sort was the shopping.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 12/12/2020 10:08

Today’s delivery was missing mince pies.......great. Thanks Ocado.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 12/12/2020 10:33

Hope you're recovering, lexloofah.

Yes ... the algorithm must be scratching its head at my distinctly un-Christmas-y order for next week - dull household goods only. Was tempted to double the number of tinned tomatoes, against January, but just couldn't be bothered.

On other threads people are bored with the regularity and predictability of their deliveries from other supermarkets ... Xmas Hmm Xmas Angry Gin

DobbyTheHouseElk · 12/12/2020 12:04

Checking my delivery and I’ve found a box of coffee magnums that I didn’t order!

EveLe · 12/12/2020 12:30

That thing in January is why I haven’t cancelled my smart pass! I have Reserved orders booked for 2nd and the 9th. I’m hoping that coming from a warehouse items will be more likely to be in stock, and that existing orders will be prioritised if there are supply issues.

But, given how much is OOS for my Christmas delivery, I also have weekly Tesco shops booked for DMs address for the next month! That way I can add to her orders and she can add to mine if necessary.

A thing? What thing?
Egghead68 · 12/12/2020 12:39

I tried the increase the quantity of something and they deleted all of them from the order!! Beware.

About 90% of Christmas food seems to be out of stock

Egghead68 · 12/12/2020 12:42

Stanfordpines a little matter that’s all over the news

gillybean2 · 12/12/2020 12:48

Just had an email from Waitrose saying I can amend my Xmas order up until the 15th. That’s for a 21st delivery. So just be aware the cut off is coming up fast if you have got a Waitrose slot. I simply can’t believe Ocado are going to get M&S Xmas food stock in now given they should know by now how much stock and in progress they have coming through the system. Plus M&S stopped taking orders for in store collection a while back so they clearly know what their stock limits are... I hope I’m wrong for those still relying on an Ocado Christmas slot at this point

herecomesthsun · 12/12/2020 12:48

@Madcats

I had 1 substitution in my Waitrose order this morning. What I had forgotten was that, if something is out of stock and they sub, they charge you the price of what you originally wanted to order if the sub cost more.

I feel a bit stupid refusing to take a £14 beef joint now.

We got a lamb shoulder swapped for 2 joints, 1 week, and they charged us £6-7 in total. I have been happily accepting their substitutions ever since.
Noflora · 12/12/2020 13:04

gillybean2 My email from Waitrose just refers to the Entertaining items in my 21st Dec order. The regular stuff can be edited until 20th. Waitrose have always had an earlier cut off for Entertaining stuff, helpfully this year they have actually told us what it is. In prior years I have been caught out with eg a goose and a turkey in the order.

It feels reckless but I am going to cancel my Ocado 23rd order. There is nothing vital to Christmas in it and because of the crazy OOS situation I have ordered everything Christmassy elsewhere. I am not paying 9.99 and 90 quid min delivery for everyday stuff.

Furball · 12/12/2020 14:57

I did that last year @Noflora, I couldn't stomach they price tag for delivery so had my order on the week before christmas with all the trimmings, then the actual turkey/veg/fresh cream / other fresh stuff needed etc I got locally and it worked well.

That has completely passed me by, can someone tell me?
Madcats · 12/12/2020 15:59

Thanks gillybean2. I've not had an email like that yet, but it is a good reminder to get that order finalised. We've just had a successful festive expedition to Aldi in a nearby town: I realise I've not been in the car/ventured further than a mile from home since 1/2 term!

fuss · 12/12/2020 16:13

@stanfordpipes I assume @Egghead86 means Brexit and the possibility of food shortages.
Not sure why she didn't just say that though.

Ah I see. I thought something was happening at Ocado.

Onceuponatimethen · 12/12/2020 16:46

Ocado have announced they are stock piling long life items for Brexit

And onto the 6th Ocado thread! I have been contributing but had to change my name for a thread where I may have been outed. You’ll find all the new Ocado cheers and gripes here:

I have been a loyal customer for years but I'm getting really annoyed with them now. As well as tomato puree, you now can't buy own label tinned toms (you used to get WR Essentials or Ocado own) or plain flour (you can get 500g bags, but that's a daft way to buy flour), and I'm sure other items too. I emailed them and got a very unsatisfactory reply saying "if there's a product you would like to request, you can do so on our website".
I've started getting my basics from Lidl but I miss the convenience of getting everything from Ocado.
