Me too - everything I want is out of stock

Madcats · 04/12/2020 15:34

@Noflora Waitrose were selling Holy Guacamole at 2 for £3.50 last week (and might still be).

I have started doing a few price checks when ordering especially with biscuits/crisps and (dish)washing tablets/powder. The price variations between shops can be massive.

@Madcats Ocado have the huge bags of Fairy Platinum Plus half price again atm (tends to be on-off-on-off)
They are one of the best performers IME & at half price are cheaper per tablet than B&M!

Irony of ironies ... a tussle with the driver bringing my madly extravagant Ocado'versary wine. They phoned me from outside my home to say I would have to come and pick up the bags from the van because there was a traffic warden about and they "couldn't leave the van". After eleven years of regular deliveries. Xmas Hmm

I was inclined to labour my point, but eventually went out - because of the wine ...

Roll on 6pm!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 05/12/2020 08:02

I still can’t add any Christmas food to my order. It’s all listed as OOS. Will it magically appear nearer the time? Or are we having fish fingers for Christmas dinner?

Nothing in my basket is Christmasy. This is the basket I’m paying 9.99 for on top of my smart pass and £90 min order. FFS what do I do, are Ocado playing who will blink first?

Onceuponatimethen · 05/12/2020 08:34

Really irritating delivery just came! We ordered a big ready meal box set and a few accompanying bits of the same kind. The big box didn’t turn up so now we are left with these random accompanying items

Even dp who normally takes no part in my Ocado ranting has said that they’ve been unreliable lately Grin

MatildaonaWaltzer · 05/12/2020 09:55

I’ve just been to Waitrose. Oh dear god, the exotic spice blends, the duchy artisan bread, caraway seed crackers. It’s just hit home heavily how much better quality it is. M&S has dumbed down Ocado for the TV dinners crowd.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 05/12/2020 09:59

I think I’ll swap in the new year. I’m so fed up with Ocado.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 05/12/2020 10:33

M&S has dumbed down Ocado for the TV dinners crowd.

Awesome summing up.

Although my life is hugely veered towards streamed-TV dinners atm I'm not overly keen to have my current slacker lifestyle underpinned and encouraged via grocery delivery!

Onceuponatimethen · 05/12/2020 10:47

@PoulePouletteEternellement snap!! What I find frustrating is the range of TV dinners / reliability of delivery of them isn’t even up to scratch.

Fuss · 05/12/2020 10:59

Waitrose Indian meals were sublime, the M&S version of butter chicken is quite tasteless I thought. In fact I’ve not found a single M&S ready meal I’ve bought twice. Even a staple beef stew and dumplings is just more of a mush with dumplings.

I have a Waitrose order coming next week and spent an hour creating freezer room yesterday just to stock up on their ready meals.

Slackers unite!

Onceuponatimethen · 05/12/2020 11:40

@Fuss definitely happy to unite!

Whosthatpokemon · 05/12/2020 13:15

@DobbyTheHouseElk Has the Christmas food not already been and gone? I added turkey, party food, sprouts etc when I first did my order but its all showing OOS now.

Shellingbynight · 05/12/2020 14:19

I've just been editing my Christmas order and I didn't see any OOS stuff - there were loads of mince pies, xmas puds, ham etc available to order. Didn't look at turkey, but I know from previous years that tends to go OOS fairly early on.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 05/12/2020 14:30

spent an hour creating freezer room yesterday ...

How satisfying! I stupidly filled mine without defrosting it first - so now we have stand-up fights every time I need milk or bread.

Though I should say, I don't actually buy ready made meals (don't know how I'd get from one end of the day to the other without the rhythm of cooking) but I'm doing an awful lot of eating in front of my laptop ...

PowerslidePanda · 05/12/2020 14:56

Turkey has been showing as OOS for me right from the point I first booked my Christmas delivery. I think I was in the 3rd group to be given access.

Never mind - Sainsburys will bring me one instead. Along with the rest of my Christmas shop!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 05/12/2020 15:47

Seriously?????

It was OOS when I booked my slot in October. I keep checking but it’s all OOS I’m checking most days. Someone up thread gave me hope and said it’s usually ok and it comes in later.....

what the actual F?. It’s never been in stock. Nothing. No pate, cakes, nice treaty food, stuffing, turkey....it’s all OOS constantly.

viccat · 05/12/2020 16:15

I have some Christmas food in my order from when I first placed it (late October I think?) but lots of party food type stuff, desserts, special cheese, brandy cream and almost any other cream for that matter was OOS already at that time. I don't really understand how, with two months notice from the time slots became available, they can't just produce more to meet the demand? It can't be an impossible feat to make more mini burgers or spring rolls or whatever... Seems to be the M&S branded items in particular that are OOS.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 05/12/2020 16:21

Yes, it’s the M&S products. All OOS. I don’t see why they are so badly organised.

Egghead68 · 05/12/2020 17:37

At this rate my £9.99 Christmas slot is going to be all dishwasher tablets and shampoo to make up the minimum spend. 😡

viccat · 05/12/2020 17:45

I had a read through some recent tweets to/from Ocado and they do seem to suggest in some of their replies that Christmas items will be "available soon". Whatever that means...

Also came across this interesting article in the Guardian about Ocado. Fascinating to think they've been going for so long and not really made a profit most of that time.

Furball · 05/12/2020 18:26

Maybe the stock is showing out of stock unless you are editing the actual Christmas week order? As alot of it is only available for the Christmas period. so technically would not be in stock beforehand - although admittedly we are getting close and people do spread the shop load/cost.

I had the Christmas order in edit mode. Everytime I look. Desperate to get one bloody Christmas item!

Why did I pay 9.99 for a delivery? It’s so crap.

didireallysaythat · 05/12/2020 21:07

Xmas stuff isn't in stock. And I still can't get yoghurt, plain boring normal yoghurt in my Xmas slot. I'm going to end up going to my local coop. What is the point of a Xmas slot if you can't get, you know, food?

Furball · 05/12/2020 21:07

Sorry @DobbyTheHouseElk then that is rubbish.

It is difficult enough trying to sort Christmas without any extra worry as to whether you can actually have the trimmings that make the actually meal.
