People STILL not wearing masks on London buses

custard6543 · 27/09/2020 14:09

I had to take a journey by bus earlier. There were about 10 people on the bus, three of whom were not wearing masks. Drivers need to stop letting people on without masks - these selfish passengers are putting everyone else’s lives at risk! Sad

Oh great another opinionated idiot with no empathy who thinks those with exemptions should all lock themselves away and never go out!!!

custard6543 · 27/09/2020 14:11

Oh please. As if ALL these people had exemptions! Stop putting other people’s lives at risk and wear a mask.

ChaChaCha2012 · 27/09/2020 14:14

Are you suggesting disabled people should not be allowed to use public transport because a small minority of non disabled people might be breaking the rules?

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 27/09/2020 14:14

That's disgraceful OP. You should call the police next time.

Char2015 · 27/09/2020 14:14

I get more annoyed at those let on the buses without paying and without a mask too. We are well aware exemptions need to be made, but I'm fairly sure there are still a high number of people who have no exemptions and not wearing a mask and therefore putting people at risk.

RubyViolet · 27/09/2020 14:16

It’s so unfair isn’t it. I get such anxiety that l have to get off the bus. Sometimes l feel it is an act of aggression, it’s just a mask it isn’t hard to wear it.
Rather a mask then a ventilator mask.
( Does not include people with genuine medical reasons who can’t wear masks.)

TinySleepThief · 27/09/2020 14:16

Yes some of them are probably not exempt but you have no bloody idea if any of those people fell into this category. By saying all people not wearing a mask shouldn't be allowed on a bus you are actually saying anyone with a disability or legitimate reason for not wearing a mask shouldn't be allowed to go out.
FTMF30 · 27/09/2020 14:20

The media/government have really done a number OP. Do you teally think your life has been put at risk because three people on your bus weren't wearing masks?

Dozer · 27/09/2020 15:04

YABU about bus drivers: they are not police, and it’s already a high risk job, for violence and Covid.

Okaro · 27/09/2020 15:07

You have no idea if they were exempt stop policing others!

FizzyPink · 27/09/2020 15:07

It was the same on the train to work the other day. And then three last night in the petrol station even though there’s lots of signs saying pay through the window if you aren’t wearing a mask.

Strangely all men, id love to know what their exemptions are.

BananaPop2020 · 27/09/2020 15:10

Oh please stop OP and mind your own business.

Gigglr · 27/09/2020 15:15

It's maddening and it matters to all of us. It's absurd to say mind your own business. It's is your business if someone is sat there potentially infecting the rest of the bus. Other countries have managed this much better. No mask, no service, the end. It's not ok to endanger others.

Theworldisfullofgs · 27/09/2020 15:18

It is the ops business to some extent. Yesterday I was on a bus in Norwich and at least 40% of people had masks on their chins.

If people took more precautions we'd be moving out of this rather than going into winter with this hanging over us.

Theworldisfullofgs · 27/09/2020 15:19

In my observation all men. Including the man at the supermarket checkout who had his mask around his chin and then started coughing. Apparently there's a group of them who do it because they think it's hilarious.

TinySleepThief · 27/09/2020 15:22

Other countries have managed this much better. No mask, no service, the end.

Fab good for them. Ehat thoughtful, progressive countries these must be. Thank goodness we have laws preventing discrimination.

Unless these people told the OP they were not exempt then she and others have no rights to say they cannot use public transport.

Our Government might be shit at a lot of things but at least they have the compassion to realise people who are exempt should not be locked up at home and scrutinised by public busy bodies.

ToastedEnglishMuffin · 27/09/2020 15:22

OP you need to calm down.

People will do what they want to do and you cannot control it. Daily I see people without masks on buses and in the supermarket and it is doubtful everyone of them is exempt. Not to mention the 'below the nose' brigade.

All you can do is follow the rules yourself.

annabel85 · 27/09/2020 15:22

Why didn't you call the police?

HeresMe · 27/09/2020 15:25

Why don't we make the mask exempt wear yellow stars on their clothing would that make you happy.

Mind your own business.

Theworldisfullofgs · 27/09/2020 15:41

HeresMe

Quite frankly a pathetically aggressive response.

In my experience the majority of them not wearing them are men. Is that men are more likely to be exempt or part of the group of people who thought it was fun to go and breathe on each other in Trafalgar Square.

If more people who weren't exempt wore them it would actually be easier for those who were genuinely exempt. We also wouldn't be going into winter with tighter lock down hanging over us.

In other countries they ate getting back to a more normal way of life. We, because apparently we love freedom, are prolonging our lack of freedom.

cleverknot · 27/09/2020 15:46

I drove thru London recently & saw lots of masked passengers while waiting in the endless traffic. Didn't notice any unmasked passengers. Weird.

HeresMe · 27/09/2020 15:47

Not a pathetic response have you seen the disabilism on mask threads on here it's worse than anything I have said.

Er people in Trafalgar Square weren't wearing masks because they are against wearing masks it isn't rocket science.

Other countries yeah we want to be like Spain who locked children in apartments for months.

You think other countries went protesting they are.

Youngatheart00 · 27/09/2020 15:50

I’d be really pissed off at this too.

Those with genuine exemptions are in a tiny minority. I’ve seen a couple of people over the past 3 months with lanyards on which identifies that exemption.

There are some people who don’t give a shit about others and see it as some badge of honour to ‘get one over on society’ by not following the rules. Makes me v annoyed indeed.

JKRowlingIsMyQueen · 27/09/2020 15:52

Op stop discriminating towards disabled people, it's disgusting. There are plenty of reasons they could be exempt, asthma, autism, rape, abuse etc. etc.

If you're so scared stay home and hide behind your sofa.

Theworldisfullofgs · 27/09/2020 15:53

Its interesting that Asian countries with a culture of collectivism and 'we' are much better at managing things like this than western individualistic culture.

How do you know that the people on the ops bus aren't anti maskers?
