Is there something else going on

I’m sorry if this is in the wrong place, I can’t think of the right section to put it. I can’t shake the feeling that something deeper is going on here. I’m not sure if it’s my anxiety talking and the fact I have a lot more time to sit and think about it but I can’t get it out of my head. I am thinking something devastating to the planet, asteroid collision or something, with corona as a cover up to avoid mass hysteria in our final days. Why are they still launching Starlink when the rest of the world has completely shut down? Where is all this money coming from that the government is throwing around seemingly without a care to how we will pay it back. Why are they so unbothered by so many members of society who stand to lose everything if we stay shut down for much longer (pubs, leisure industry, travel/holidays, weddings etc). Why do we keep hearing about empty hospitals, bored staff and the empty Nightingale hospitals? Why are we stopping ALL planned surgery’s seemingly disregarding the health of everybody apart from corona sufferers. No plans for if/how/when our children will go back to school. I just can’t get my head around it.

@Conflicted91

What is that site www.secretintelligenceservice.org?

They've spelt accoutrements wrong, anyway.

Asimovsfutureishere2020 · 24/04/2020 02:03

Both Gates and the Rockefeller Foundation and the RSA sent out emails today to members.

Gates' (Gatesnotes) is a very normal, rational explanation of what's happening - similar to that which we are hearing every day here. We forget that we are attuned to the plain facts whereas other countries don't have the openess and freedom of information we have (and honest science).

@Tdaadfb100
Thank you
Will do

Mimishimi · 24/04/2020 03:04

Nothing we haven't seen before. Studying the enabling laws in 1930's Germany might be a good idea.

CaptainMerica · 24/04/2020 06:23

@RuffleCrow - that is what they SHOULD be doing, as a silver lining to the situation. Unfortunately they are not giving it a second thought, I suspect.

BilboBercow · 24/04/2020 06:36

Are you taking something for your anxiety op?

RuffleCrow · 24/04/2020 09:06

Just as an aside, have any of you ever seen a picture of John D Rockefeller? He belongs on one of those "i knew he was evil the moment I clapped eyes on him" threads, and was apparently the inspiration for Monty Burns in The Simpsons

Itsabitmessy · 24/04/2020 09:08

Bill Gates is worth keeping an eye on, he has financial investments in every single process surrounding this pandemic.

He can’t even sort out the viruses on Windows.

Chillipeanuts · 24/04/2020 09:14

It is your anxiety talking, nothing strange going on.
We’ve, miraculously, not had a pandemic in the human population for 100 years. In itself that’s quite astonishing but it’s made us blasé about general good health, it’s the norm for the majority in the UK anyway. So naturally the situation we find ourselves in now is really hard to get our heads around.

We’re just a species suffering from a widespread disease, like most species do on a fairly regular basis.

Smellbellina · 24/04/2020 09:17

There is a huge asteroid due to fly by at the end of the month as it happens.

Naturalbornkiller · 24/04/2020 09:34

I think the real reason hospital have effectively shut down is the lack of ppe. Staff need full suits like the Chinese had to keep them safe - not a plastic apron and paper mask. The gov don't want a load of law suits for making them work in unsafe environments, so they're shutting it down for now.

In regards to the money, paying people wages ect. I'm almost 100% that will not happen and has been said to appese people. Sir Phillip Green sacked any staff he could 1 hour before it was announced the gov would pay 80% of staff wages. Seems like he knew somthing we don't. I think caviats will very likely be put onto it. My guess, only those that would be eligible for uc can claim, and only companies with net provit/worth under x amount. Do you think a self employed nail tech is going to get 80% of income if her dh is still earning £50kpa? What about a HR manager that has £50k savings in the bank?

In regard to the lack of concern over the effect of lockdown. We have an elitist gov. They don't actually care about the little people, we are just numbers on a spreadsheet to them. What they care about is them and their buddies making money and looking good and keeping votes. The rich get richer in times of economic crisis. Who's gonna buy all the repossed homes, who's gonna get a monopoly on businesses, they'll be buying stocks, shares and currancy at rock bottom prices.
The gov went with public opinion. Simple as that. Makes no difference to Boris if people die or there is a ressesion. The only reason we didn't go with the initial (in my eyes more sensible stratagy) is because it wenr against public opinion. The gov arnt brave enough to take a gamble going against public opinion incase it doesn't work and they look bad. If lockdown goes bad they can just blame us - it's what we wanted after all.

The WHO are dodgy as fuck though. I think they are over inflating this so their donors (Bill Gates) can sell vaccine.

If it was an asteroid being kept under wraps, encouraging billions of people to look up at the sky and watch these satellites zooming around would be a bit foolish.

Or, they’ve preempted any ‘what the fuck is that?!’ questions by saying, ‘look at all the lovely whizzy lights! It’s fine, nothing to concern yourself about...’

Conspiracy theorists always massively overestimate the competence of governments.

^^^..This...

Smellbeillina is right about the asteroid flyby, but for the sake of the anxious perhaps it's worth pointing out that at it's closest approach it is going to be about 4 million miles, or roughly 16 times as far away from the Earth as the Moon is as it orbits the Earth..

Bill Gates is worth keeping an eye on, he has financial investments in every single process surrounding this pandemic.

Well, yeah, hardly surprising. In 2000 he set up a the Gates Foundation to research diseases that affect the poor. He has given it billions of dollars. Philanthropy isn't new, many of the super rich have always set up things to help the less fortunate.

If you have a billion dollar health research foundation then of course you'd have partnerships and collaborations with all the type of organisations involved in a pandemic. It would be weird if they didn't. Confused

It's like you saying car manufacture solely exists because the lizard people feed off asthmatics and so they have made a big conspiracy to pollute the air and your proof is your discovery that some car manufacturers have shares in oil companies.

Yes Bill Gates needs keeping an eye on, that Warren Buffett too. Then we should applaud them and hope that all those other super rich want in on the philanthropy too instead of spunking it up the wall on pointless bling.

BigChocFrenzy · 24/04/2020 09:59

"Global warming; I don't believe all that I read on that. Neither do a lot of other academics either"

Justaboy Less than 2% of academics disagree about man-made climate change

However, the huge amounts of money that the big oil interests pump into denying climate change does make this tiny minority sound more important than they are

vera99 · 24/04/2020 10:00

Boris had a cunning plan (seriously) watch this and then like Baldrick's best laid cunning plans he went and got the damn thing. The reality itself is jaw-dropping stuff without the need for aliens, 5G and the like.

Naturalbornkiller · 24/04/2020 10:02

Conspiracy theorists always massively overestimate the competence of governments.

Most the conspiracy theories don't point to governments though. They talk about a secret elite really running the show. Sometimes it includes politicians but never overall governments.

BigChocFrenzy · 24/04/2020 10:04

I'm a great scifi fan, but I never make the mistake of believing any of it is real.

However, I'm sure the "aliens plan to conquer the earth via biological warfare" conspiracy is out there in tinfoil territory

TorkTorkBam · 24/04/2020 10:05

Why are these super competent super elites always evil? My experience of highly intelligent people who know to get shit done is that they are usually well-meaning. They'd be more likely to secretly solve global warming than to cause it if they had all that supposed power.

The80sweregreat · 24/04/2020 10:08

I do like reading about conspiracy theories and I'm sure many more will come out over the years about this pandemic as time goes on.
For now we can only do what we're advised to do and try to lower the risk of getting the virus. I don't trust any governments and this one has been hit and miss with its procedures in place to deal with a crisis.
I think that Brexit was so consuming for so many years that anything else wasn't really considered and the U.K. took its eye off the ball as to regards anything else that might happen to us! Years of austerity also didn't help as stockpiling for ppe etc couldn't really take place without spending money and that was frowned on.
Bill Gates did a talk in 2015 saying this will happen as Ebola had broken out in Africa in 2014 , but had managed to be contained. I can't do links but it's one of the ' Ted talks' and quite interesting to watch on u tube.

We will just have to learn to deal with this infection and live a bit differently for a year Won't be easy , but I think we will get used to it.

Floatyboat · 24/04/2020 10:09

Can't prove you're wrong.
