I’m sorry if this is in the wrong place, I can’t think of the right section to put it. I can’t shake the feeling that something deeper is going on here. I’m not sure if it’s my anxiety talking and the fact I have a lot more time to sit and think about it but I can’t get it out of my head. I am thinking something devastating to the planet, asteroid collision or something, with corona as a cover up to avoid mass hysteria in our final days. Why are they still launching Starlink when the rest of the world has completely shut down? Where is all this money coming from that the government is throwing around seemingly without a care to how we will pay it back. Why are they so unbothered by so many members of society who stand to lose everything if we stay shut down for much longer (pubs, leisure industry, travel/holidays, weddings etc). Why do we keep hearing about empty hospitals, bored staff and the empty Nightingale hospitals? Why are we stopping ALL planned surgery’s seemingly disregarding the health of everybody apart from corona sufferers. No plans for if/how/when our children will go back to school. I just can’t get my head around it.

Humans try and make sense of their world. The changes are immense at the moment, we can't comprehend them so we start to think about what could gave caused them.

For the record the virus is real, it is different to previous illnesses seen before the chest xrays I've seen show that. Also I was reading about 1918 flu this morning and again all over the world the same measures were taken against it in terms of social isolation and lockdown and those communities that ended their lockdown earlier had more surges. The nurses were similar ppe albeit cloth not plastic and makeshift hospitals sprang up in leisure spaces.

It is what it is. There's no need to break out the tinfoil hats. It's a small blip in the lives of young children. Worrying for the adults responsible for them and trying not to show it, yes. A lot of people say we were due a plague, if so I'm bloody pleased that it's not that bad (compared historically) and we have up to date science on our side. It's scary and it's challenged life as we knew it but it won't last forever, it's only been this bad for a couple of months. I'd be more prone to severe anxiety if it came in waves under years of lockdown and release. Some say it will, I'll save my panic for then. Knuckle down and cope as best you can. We're all in the same boat but let's not let our minds run away with us. If you and your kids are safe and healthy then that's the most important thing. If you or yours are ill then of course, lose your shit. That's natural. Just ride it out as best you can and count your blessings.

Hospital management and the school dh works for are all floundering on how to manage this as no-one has experience of it before. Look at how much has changed in recent weeks in the supermarkets with regards to the process of shopping as companies work out their procedures and learn more about how the dan safely operate.

I'm not by any means a crackpot but I agree it's not totally unreasonable to think something bigger is happening. Truth is stranger than fiction these days.

Do you have a level-headed and non-judgemental friend you could speak to in real life about this? The rapid changes in a few short weeks have been pretty surreal and I believe that speaking to a friend would be helpful to you

An asteroid strike on land would make sunsets very red all over the world due to dust in the atmosphere. An asteroid strike in the sea would cause tsunamis so big New York would be out (it isn't) or LA would (it isn't. My mother's there. I talked to her this evening. Then again, i could be part of the conspiracy, and lying to you. Sorry.) But honestly- it's just a virus.

I find it amazing that the country is coping so well, this is the same country that comes to a standstill when it snows heavily. Op you do have a point about money though, suddenly there is money for every local authority in the land, they have managed to house the homeless etc. Where is it coming from?? I know this is a result of too much time spent thinking about shite, but I have half convinced myself that of course the virus is real, but governments around the world are jumping at the chance to see how obedient the general public is..and also, possibly trying to help out with global warming...all the changes going on will help massively towards that, especially the lack of travel going on. I don't actually think I would be pissed off if it turned out that was part of it either..
