I think next year for abroad. End of August for UK. What do you think?

I’m really hoping late summer for international travel but who knows. I think leaving the EU will put us at a disadvantage too.

Bottomplasters · 14/04/2020 21:24

I booked three holidays in February, now having to work extra shifts to pay for them knowing we arnt going anywhere.

Just rebooked our planned May trip to Poland to end of August. No idea if it will go ahead or not

Xenia · 14/04/2020 21:29

Not sure. When I was a child I did not have a night away from home until we went to Ibiza when I was 10! so that was 10 years without a holiday - we just did day trips which was absolutely fine as we knew no different. That was 1960s.

Lyricallie · 14/04/2020 21:29

We just rebooked our honeymoon for November to Thailand so fingers crossed by then!

Cornettoninja · 14/04/2020 21:32

It’s hard to predict but judging by what’s going on in countries ahead of us by a decent amount (south Korea, Singapore) I think quarantine restrictions will make international travel prohibitive for a long while yet. If people have to quarantine for 14 days on arrival and then a further 14 on return travelling for leisure would be way out of reach for the majority of people.

Things have changed very quickly and will likely continue to do so as we learn more but I don’t think it’s realistic to consider international travel for at least a year.

MoltonSilver · 14/04/2020 21:34

I cant see any international holidays happening in 2020.

delilabell · 14/04/2020 21:40

What are people thinking about British holidays? I'm worrying even if we can go in August are we going to be allowed to sit on a busy beach?

Felicitycity · 14/04/2020 21:43

We won't be going abroad till 2021. Imho

Youngatheart00 · 14/04/2020 21:46

And here’s a thought - when restrictions do get lifted (including quarantine requirements) I wonder what will happen to pricing. Will prices be sky high as demand will be off the scale with all that pent up demand?

DBML · 14/04/2020 21:47

Sooner than most people on Mumsnet think.

Crimsonnightlotus · 14/04/2020 21:49

Wow, that's very positive. Good for you. I just can't think of it atm.

Mummypig2020 · 14/04/2020 21:51

We had planned a holiday to haven in July, I’m keeping everything crossed for it. I just keep thinking it’s 3 months away, no one knows what will happen and look how much everything has changed in 3 months since January

Exoffice · 14/04/2020 21:52

I am hoping for July/August. I have elderly parents abroad and currently cannot get there as there is virtually no plane connection whatsoever. I am pretty desperate now to see them Sad

sweetkitty · 14/04/2020 21:53

We have the holiday of a lifetime booked for Disneyworld end of July. On one hand we are gutted we probably won’t be going but on the other as long as we all come out of this alive holidays can be rebooked. As long as we get a refund for the flights. Everything else is just deposits.

@Xenia I didn’t go on holidays until I was 19 and paid for it myself.

DBML · 14/04/2020 21:53

Global airline businesses and all those jobs...no way it’ll be any longer than absolutely necessary.

Verily1 · 14/04/2020 21:55

I’m hoping September for U.K. and think 2221 for abroad.

Bottomplasters · 14/04/2020 21:56

2221 😂 no more holidays then!

@sweetkitty

Have you been before? If not you’ll love it. Though, delaying until next year would also enable you to see the 50th Anniversary and a whole host of new rides. It’ll be busy, though it’s always busy. We are annual pass holders, it’s my favourite place in the world. Have you got universal tickets too? Volcano Bay is incredible and the new Hagrid ride outstanding. Well worth the ticket price.
Sorry for the thread hi-Jack.

DBML · 14/04/2020 21:58

201 years! Wow

DBML · 14/04/2020 21:59

@sweetkitty

Also, if you’re not a Dibber, you should be.

Daffodil101 · 14/04/2020 22:02

2022, September 9th.

Seriously. Nobody knows.

wonderstuff · 14/04/2020 22:04

I'm still hoping that we might go on our trip to Disneyland Paris in August. I think its currently 50/50. Planning to go to Florida August 2021, not 100% sure that will happen, but if we're not travelling internationally by then most the airlines will be out of business surely?

Taswama · 14/04/2020 22:07

For the sake of the UK tourist industry and our postponed trip to Cornwall I hope UK travel is okay by July. But I think international travel will take longer and we may have seen the end of cheap flights.

Wauden · 14/04/2020 22:09

August or September for the UK.
