A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

OP posts:
Khaleesimother · 16/04/2020 21:32

@Meercatmama that sounds good, hope I get to that stage soon. 3 - 4 hours of broken anxious sleep at the moment. Might try an audio book to see if that helps.

Dorual · 16/04/2020 21:33

My little boy has a fever Sad 16 days after my first fever day. We've been locked down a month, not gone any where besides the garden. Scared :'(

Andromeida59 · 16/04/2020 21:49

@schrodingersKitty. Sorry to hear about your DP. Hoping for a swift recovery.

I said I was feeling better. Burning chest back with a vengeance. Glad for this board though.

TheDrsWife46 · 16/04/2020 21:54

@Dorual whats his temp? How old is he and any other symptoms. And my dh is not a dr in case you missed that in previous thread, didnt want you to get your hopes up that i have access to GP here. Xx

TheDrsWife46 · 16/04/2020 22:05

@SchrodingersKitty ive been here for Dh updates. Have you spoken to his lymphoma team yet because that had stalled over easter and you were hoping for an update on Tues I recall. Could his faint be from the lymphoma itself rather than the steroids? Would they want to be informed that he lost consciousness or will the hospital tell his team? Just sending you so much love and best wishes, Coronavirus is consuming the rest of us but I know for you its ended up being minor to the bigger picture of all you’ve been dealing with, which really says a lot about what you have on your plate! Flowers

godhelpusall · 16/04/2020 22:34

I hope you Dh gets the help and support he needs (and you too) kitty

Dorual · 16/04/2020 22:50

@TheDrsWife46 he's 7. He had a headache all day and was teary with irritated eyes. Then fever at bedtime 37.9. It's come down to 37 on its own without Calpol but he's clammy.

onlinelinda · 16/04/2020 23:01

Poor you @SchrodingersKitty. And your DH, obviously. This really has been a terrible month for you. I'm really sorry, and I hope he mends soon. X

stayathomegardener · 16/04/2020 23:03

@Needsomegoodnews oximeters are about £20 on eBay.

@SchrodingersKitty I'm so sorry to hear your update, your DH seems in remarkably good spirits all considered. Thanks

OneDayAtATime123 · 16/04/2020 23:04

@Standrewsschool
Good to hear about your progress and wishing you well. How is your breathlessness ?

Porcupineinwaiting · 16/04/2020 23:28

Dont be scared about your ds @Doural. He's little and likely to have a very mild case. My dh caught it from me (mild case) and ds1 from him (v mild, he's 14). Not even sure ds2 (12) has any symptoms but he must have been infected after a month in the house with the 3 of us.

Dorual · 16/04/2020 23:30

Thanks @porcupineinwaiting

I hope you're right. DH has Type 1 Diabetes so I'm fingers crossed he doesn't catch it :(

Zantedeschia · 16/04/2020 23:39

Hi all, can't believe the thread is now 40+ days. I'm on day 33...day 27-32 I felt fine. Today I felt horrible again...slight temp, headache, couldn't concentrate, chesty, went to bed after work and slept.

Anyone else getting relapses like this?

Also got my period today but it wouldn't normally affect me like this.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 04:52

Just popping in for a handhold. Woke up at 3am with a bad night terror, tried to jump out of bed but my weak/tingly legs gave way and i fell over. I didnt take any kalms but once I was awake I felt awful, like diarrhoea is pending again. Ive eaten the soups and smoothies and now ive got a bad tummy again. I just feel so sorry for myself now. 20+ days and its unrelenting.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 04:53

Ive taken kalms now to see if i can go off again but dh and the dc’s will wake shortly and then im bound to be back off to sleep again.

Tangledyarn · 17/04/2020 05:17

@Zantedeschia Yeah the relapses seem really common for most of us and the recovery is generally very up and down with lots of different phases to it. I think maybe because it's a new virus for our body to deal with. Really horrible.
@Thedrswife46 Hope you manage to get off to sleep again or can at least rest in bed. Its horrible isn't it but you will get better Flowers

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 05:31

@Tangledyarn ive stopped believing I’ll get better. It just doesnt come. When they talk about people testing positive again and that they’ve been reinfected. I dont believe that. I think its people like us who are just taking so so long. I found this youtube guy and he seemed to be the same sand practically scientists to please please take note its taking weeks and weeks and weeks...with no help (safe to click on the link nothing scary in this for news averters)

U

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 05:31
Tangledyarn · 17/04/2020 05:41

@thedrswife46 Yeah I think it just takes weeks maybe months for some people. Probably because it's a totally new virus and hard for our body to tackle. I'm sure in a few months there will be more info on recovery for people but it's very hard for people like us who are early adopters of the virus. I do think we will get better though, we've seen other people on this thread improve a lot and be back doing lots of normal things again after 5 or 6 weeks. It's hard for me as I have lots of underlying stuff so I have to accept that it might take me longer than other people, but its very upsetting, my life was already dominated by my health issues and I've now got another thing to contend with. Its exactly 6 weeks for me today and it's been a really terrible 6 weeks, but I am seeing progress now, it's just very slow and very up and down

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 05:56

@Tangledyarn thankyou for responding im feeling so sad and alone in the dark, the family will all wake up soon and as much as I love then its easier to manage my own pain/distress when they’re asleep but Im lonely and frightened. Can I ask what improvements your getting 6 weeks in? A Mnetter sent me a fantastic video of managing post viral fatigue which has helped me in getting small pleasures like sitting in the sun or pulling the odd weed from the garden. But im too weak and shaky to complete any of my normal daily tasks and its upsetting me a lot tonight/this morning

Egghead68 · 17/04/2020 05:59

Morning. Day27/28 and my headache is back.

How is your DH today @SchrodingersKitty?

Relapses seem to be very common @Zantedeschia.

@TheDrsWife46 I also feel (emotionally) that I will never get better but logically it’s likely that we will eventually. I hope.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 06:05

I just dont understand why theres no information about longer term recoveries coming out of other countries? All the anedotal snippets and most people are well within 2 weeks well what about the people who are actually UNWELL in Italy? Spain? China? Where are their stories?
Someone poster the article from that american author before and she was 25 days and plateu’d but i need to hear about the recoveries from china and Italy months ago. How long did they take?

Casino218 · 17/04/2020 06:19

Day 39. My symptoms are now just mild discomfort in my chest, the odd cough, very tired come the evening but I'm not having to go to bed mid afternoon now, if I walked uphill I would be short of breath. My DH seems to have it worse currently. His chest pain returned last Monday, he was getting low grade temperatures. He was taken into hospital because of chest pain on Wednesday but all his bloods, ecg, xrays were fine. It could just be pleurisy left. He gets chest pain if he tries to do any jobs.

Casino218 · 17/04/2020 06:23

@shrogingerskitty sorry to hear about your DH. I do home you are not still trying to lecture and you are taking some carer leave or sick leave.
